Btw, anyone knows how do I see the actual bike mileage? Yesterday after a short ride in heavy traffic the panel said 27 km/l. And today after a long ride on mostly open road with mild traffic the panel displayed 41km/l.

Not having the bike on your name can be troublesome for insurance purposes.

The only reliable and accurate method will be the tankful to tankful one. The next time you go to refuel, fill it to the brim. Set the trip meter(either trip 1 or trip 2 doesn't matter). The next time you go to the pump, note how much fuel was needed to get a tankfull. So this quantity will tell you the fuel you burnt since the last refuel. Use this and the trip meter figure to calculate the mileage.AS accurate as it getsThe hero always RIDES into the sunset!

For the past few days I am having issue with my bike. when I turn on the ignition key and kill switch on my bike nothing happens, no display, self start doesn't work.Checked for blown fuse but fuse seems to be ok. Tried push start but still no go. Disconnected the battery and took it to a nearby battery shop found that battery is totally dead. Contacted the service manager and took the battery to the service center. They said that it needs to be charged for 10 hrs. Called them the next day, the service manager said that the battery has gone bad and can be claimed under warranty and asked to bring the warranty card and other relevant documents.
Now what do I do?
Has anyone experienced the same problem?
What did I do which has made the battery to give up? I haven't installed a loud horn or haven't done any alterations to the electrical components, so why me?
Does the SVC needs to provide an alternative battery while I am waiting for the battery to be replaced?Last edited by Ri$hi; 02-14-2013, 10:04 PM.

I believe D200 comes with MF battery. In this case, what I suspect is that the battery had served its life and was not manufactered during the same time as your D.Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostFor the past few days I am having issue with my bike. when I turn on the ignition key and kill switch on my bike nothing happens, no display, self start doesn't work.Checked for blown fuse but fuse seems to be ok. Check out the warranty duration of the battery(which will definitely be more than the duration you have bought you D) and if it is dead, claim it from the manufacturer of the battery via KTM Store. Else, if you need to get it done by yourself, get something in written from KTM SVC as a proof of it, more like a death certificate of the battery.
Normally, batteries come with 1/2 year warranty. Since D200 was launched in March(I guess), and your bike hasn't done more than a year, you can very well claim it.
My P150's manual has this entry page about the battery. Check out your manual for similar page and as they said, go to them for resolution.Regards,

The machine arrived...Midnight Black! Hassle-free delivery at Khivraj was a pleasant surprise! Rode it back to office with a wide smile across my face.
The mechanic who handed over the bike warned me about shutting the fuel cap. He said it shouldn't be pushed down directly like most other bikes and that the key will need to be turned first and then the cap lowered to its place. Supposedly, if not handled correctly, a plastic ring at the opening of the tank might get damaged and the whole tank will need to be replaced then! Whoa! Really?

Im having the exact same issue right now. I dont know what the problem is, but the bike seems to have become a little slower lately, although this could be because its almost time for the next service. Yea i know the reply would be "Show it to the SVC" but the thing is I want to know the cause of it, because want to be prepared incase the SVC gives some rubbish reason or say "No problem sir, It will be fine". Anyway if anybody has any idea about the cause, please help. I want to fix the problem before it grows to a bigger one.Originally posted by abhic View PostGuys i need your advice yesterday i noticed oil leak from right side cylinder head area. I am now worried about it. Please help me on this.

Hey, thanks a lot for replying.Originally posted by ynike99 View Post1) My riding will be mostly in stop and go traffic, so what kind of FE figures can I expect?
28-32 kmpl
2) In freeways, if I ride it sanely (60-70 kmph), how much will it return
I've got 42 for sane riding(80-90-sometimes 100).60-70 will return similar or better figures.
3) I'm a college student, so it should not be too heavy on the pocket. Can you please give me some idea about the maintenance costs, price of spare parts, durability?
Regular service would be in range of 2-2.5k per 4 months.
4) Is there any problem, particular to this bike
Many, search through this thread, but the most irritating is urge to stare and ride anytime without any reason. On a serious note, heating in traffic is biggest problem.
5) I intend to use this bike for at least 6-7 years, will it last that long? I will not abuse my bike and will service it regularly. Has anyone here, clocked more than 20k kms on their Duk
n.a(im 8k on odo)
6) Is there any extended warranty scheme provided by KTM/Bajaj for the Duke
NO.The standard warranty is 2yrs/40k kms.
Is the R15 a better buy when it comes to mileage and durability?
Your call.dont want to start a duke vs r15 war.
Hi bro, thank you! The FE is not what I would like it to be. But no bike is perfect. Have to sacrifice something for the awesome experience the bike gives. >DOriginally posted by vikundefined View PostI had r15 for 3 years and trust me its a fantastic peace of machinery, but when it comes to duke r15 is no comparison. I am myself thinking of getting duke and will buy it in 1-2 months. and about ur queries...
1) u can get anywhere between 25-35 in stop n go traffic depends how u ride( i used get 35 on r15 in mix riding)
2) in freeways u can expect more than 40kmpl at that speed
3)i am a college student myself and both duke and r15 would not be heavy on your pocket(duke's maintenance should be marginally expensive)
4) there are few small niggles but rest assured of ktm after sales service
5) as long as u maintain your bike properly your bike will serve you well
6) not sure about the extended warranty
ride both the bikes and then decide which suits you better.
One thing that i would like to ask you. Did you experience any wrist pain on your R15?
Yes bro, i'm the one who asked the question on Yahoo Answers!Originally posted by Edd View PostHey, are you the guy who asked question regarding R15v2 and wrist pain on Yahoo Answers?
Anyways, as for FE, I ride in Mumbai traffic i.e. Stop and go and have been getting a mileage of about 35 Km/L.
On highways you will get better mileage of around 40 Km/L.
It's a low maintenance bike so wont be too heavy on pocket. Just do a proper engine break in and get the first three services done on time. Also lube the chain every 500Kms.
The major concern when you get this bike, but you get used to it after a month or so. It's not really a problem, such bikes are bound to heat a lot.
Six to seven years is too long to predict but yes, you should be able to use it comfortably for at least 4 years. KTMs are very well known for their quality.
No such scheme as of now, however you get 2 years or 40,000 kms of warranty when you buy the bike.
In terms of durability, yes its more durable than R15. Not sure about the mileage though.
What's your name there? Thanks for replying.

r15 and duke are performance bikes. if mileage is a concern to you there are other more practical and fuel efficient bikes out there (pulsar 200ns perhaps?).Originally posted by anishbora View PostHi bro, thank you! and in any case the r15 and duke are two very different sort of bikes, comparing there mileage doesn't make any sense. you will need to first decide what sort of bike you want.
i have never had any wrist pain on the r15. you won't either if you use proper riding techniques such as using the knees and core to support your upper body, no weight on the bars etc.

And I wasn't told about any such precaution while closing gas cap. I have been just pushing it down and taking out the key. Thanks for the heads up. Will be sure to follow this from next time.

Hi all, am riding a pulsar220 dtsi and very soon am about to replace the bike. Pretty much interested in Duke 200 as i will mainly use my bike for city rides and occasional highway rides. One thing i wanted to know was whether this bike will be stable at the speeds of 110-120kmph on highway rides. If yes, then i am going with this bike straight away without looking at its competitors. Experts, please throw some light on this. Thank u

I recently had a few one day 500+ km trips where I rode the bike non stop at 110+ kmh speeds, and once even redlining it at 134 kmh for almost an hour. All that with a tank bag and saddle bags.Originally posted by seahorses View PostHi all, am riding a pulsar220 dtsi and very soon am about to replace the bike. Bike behaves great, no problem with stability or engine running at high rpms for long time.
Of course, Duke doesn't feel as firmly planted at 120+ kmh as let's say CBR 250 (which is basically MADE for touring at those speeds), but at no time it felt even close to unstable or wobbly.
While sitting FULLY upright bike will easily and very quickly reach 125 kmh (even with pillion and bags) but then it'll take time to go above that because of wind resistance which becomes just too much if you're sitting fully upright.
So, if there's one drawback about Duke at high speeds that's you get more wind blast than with some more sporty seating bikes.
But if you bend forward just little bit the bike will reach 134 kmh redline easily, and the ride also becomes much more pleasant because of less wind resistance.
So no worries, Duke will give you a big grin at highways as well...
After 5 months of ownership my only "problem" with Duke is I can't stop that damn grin whenever I ride the bike...
