That is good na..you can 'take off' if you ride quick on a runway.
Not only that, you can race on the rail tracks too.

      but couldn't resist posting!

While i was fooling around on FB. Race Dynamics is now testing their new ECU both RC and RR units on track for KTM Duke 200. Now if i have heard the rumours correctly, the extreme tune can generate a lot of power, remove the rev limiter and offer programmable maps and also provide different settings to select from(the RC model). I believe Race Concepts is also jointly developing power up kits for the same. And expected power bump for the extreme tune along with RC kits is around 30+ BHP.

Please do verify the bhp claim and don't come after me later

BTW tried my hands on the Duke 200 once again, it is indeed a HOOLIGAN!! wish i could have somehow mounted this engine on my FZ!!

      Cheers,
      That is so not OT!!

And this is sweet sweet news indeed. I was planning to get Kiiru's ECU remap done right after my 1st service, but it looks like i can get one better.

        • Hi all,

Was just wondering, what fuel is everyone using these days for their Duke? The normal unleaded petrol or the unleaded petrol with additives (speed / premium etc). I was using the one with additives (here in Delhi) but it's gone up from Rs.72 to approx Rs.78 so thinking of switching to normal unleaded. So what's everyone else using?

p.s. Any Delhi Dukers going on short rides? I'd really like to go for a short day ride somewhere close, have never been. If any group is going, do let me know, would love to join!

          • Since it has been less than a month for mine, i've only filled up 3 times. Speed 97 all 3 times. Although i'm sure 91 octane without additives would be perfectly fine as well.

            • First service done!
Just got the first service done today at 900 kms.
Good experience at the SVC, guy there was pretty knowledgeable and helpful.
Shift light is now set at 10000rpm.
Couldn't help redlining it on the way home, the entire character of the bike changes when you pin the throttle, it sounds like a mad demon at higher revs and just blows past everything on our Indian roads.
Total cost of service - 750, including oks chain spray.

On another note, the max. fuel average shown on the MFD was 55km/l, very sane riding that day.
Usually get around 40 kmpl (complete city riding) since I keep it arnd 6000rpm, around 60-70 kmph and no hard acceleration, and the lowest I got was today, 23 kmpl after redlining it in all gears on the way to home (5 kms in 5 mins with one signal stop for approx. 30 secs) not bad
No other problems faced till now, thank god.
Would like a radiator guard to keep out the dirt, although the rainy season is gone now so that isn't a big issue.
Any know when the akra exhausts will get here along with other powerparts???

91 Octane without additives is fine but be sure of the quality of petrol - try to fill the petrol in COCO(Company owned and Company operated) bunks as much as possible.

Its recommended not to complete the running in with a long trip for any bike.

                  • Alright guys, I had given my bike for 1st service, seems like a successful running-in .Got the servicing done at Sitara Bajaj, Navelim, Goa. Overall experience was good, service was quick and good quality workmanship. Total bill was Rs.1380 (i used Motul oil instead of Bajaj DTSi 10,000). I'm so glad that the 7500rpm limit is removed...revved out of service happily. Gear shifts are now buttery smooth, acceleration was better. I'll post more improvements (hopefully no problems) later on.

                    Till then ride safe
P.S. i bought a Daijya Samurai helmet today

Why you say so that the run in must be NOT done in a long trip. I did my whole run in a very long trip. We have to just vary the speeds and rpm`s.Only keeping in constant rpm and speed affects the run in.

It a bit too much stress on the engine components for a day. The engine has to break-on properly over a period of weeks.

Yes we cant stress it much. I did 2000 kms in a span of two and a half weeks. I took a lot of breaks too during each ride. The minimum did was 160km and the max was 400 km for a day. The 400 was done in my last ride.

Any new engine while running in, a fair amount of metal will be worn out. So if you continue riding too long your oil filter will not be able to hold the amount of metal junk worn out initially. So its recommended to change the oil and then take it for longer runs. Correct me if i am wrong.

You are correct. I did the long trip after finishing the first service at 420 kms.
I assume the Duke`s run-in period is 1000kms. Mine(CBR) is 500 kms. After the first service , I took it to the long trip. You should do the first service atleast after 200kms. I followed the run-in procedure still 1000kms. But as Bala said, we should take the bike to long trips after the first service. Apologies Bala!

                              • Guys, visited the KTM FREE Checkup camp held here at Vadodara. Good experience. Most of the queries were answered. Also had a DIY session for new owners. They even did the ECU check and for some reason the bike became smooth. They even asked to check and feel the difference. Do they upgrade / update the ECU or just check for errors ? Why do we feel a difference ?
