1. You can put normal fuel. (Xtra Premium not needed)
2. Idling the engine for 30-40 sec before start every morning helps lubricate internal parts of the engine and reduce wear and tear.
3. Fork oil leak/chain noise - Dukers shall help better.
Also, avoid sms lingo and CAPS while typing.
Get yourself a good helmet at least and ride safe.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

It is not necessary that you will have all these issues right from the begining of your ride. For chain noise and fork leaks you can visit the local SVC center that too if it is required.Originally posted by sanjana k View PostHey guys i m new to all this and i hav just turned 18 and this is my first bike and i am getting the delivery of my bike within 2 days. i just wanted to know wats the solution for the CHAIN KHAT-KHAT SOUND+FRONT FORK LEAK+WAT FUEL SHOULD I FILL, IS IT NECESSARY TO FILL (EXTRA PREMIUM-SPEED-POWER) INSTEAD OF NORMAL FUEL+I ALSO DONT GET IT DO I HAV TO LET THE ENGINE IDLE EVeRYTIME AFTER STARTING n BEFORE SHUTING OFF THE ENGINE.........plzzzzzz rply guys plzzz
Fuel is your choice to fill in - Extra premium, speed etc. are normal petrol with additives. I do not think you will a huge difference in pickup or mileage with those.
Idling the engine (around 1-2 minutes) at the start is good so that the oil reaches in all corners of the engine and get the parts get lubricated. I dont think idling the engine before engine shut down is necessary as it will only raise the engine temperature making the radiator fan to start, in short idling before engine shut down has no purpose.
get your ride first, go through a proper run-in method, take care of regular services and enjoy your ride !

Thanks for the information. Regarding the FE i will update as soon as i go for the next filling.Originally posted by Pain View PostIt is perfect if you go with a pillion rider on consistent basis. If not change it to 25 on front and 28 on rear.
I think the reason why you would see a slight drop in mileage is due to the change of petrol. Popular belief is that Shell offers better performance and FE in comparison to IOC.
Do let me know incase you face the same issue with the usage of Shell.
its really odd from my side that i am thinking of FE on these performance bike, its just because i have not reved it so i was just a bit worried.
In the mean time i have clocked 902 kms on the odo and will be taking the DUKE for 1st service. . Any suggestion or any thing special i should be taking care of.
And yes all xhpians . . can anyone give me feedback of the SAI SERVICE in Pune. . i was told by the sales guy that Sai Service is the ASC for duke and even the site of KTM says so . .. .

Yes it is normal. Normally most of showroom dealers keep selling previous stock unless it's not clean later they order new ones. Most probably Nov-Dec manufactured lot would be sold in Feb-March so on..Originally posted by telescope View Posti booked my bike in dec 2012 and just noticed that the mfg date is sep 2012. is this normal? i actually ended up paying more due to the price hike in october, but the bike turns out to be from an older batch.
BTW what difference would it make if it is Sept or Dec 2012 bike ? While selling it, it would be you who will be selling it back to someone, and price would be based on your bike's conditions.

The ex showroom price of Duke 200 till September or October was around 1.17 lakhs as they were on introductory offer. But now it is around 1.35 lakhs. So what I think @telescope wants to ask is, can they charge as per the new rates even tho the bike is from older batch (the batch in which offer was on).Originally posted by somen1984 View PostYes it is normal. I think that they can charge more as offers do not depend on the manufacturing of product, they rather depend on time frame in which that offer is valid. So if you would have bought same bike in September, you would have had to pay 1.17 lakh ex-showroom.

hi,
my question is a little noob, from where you get to know the manufacturing of a bike, I also wish to know when my duke was made..

The manufacturing date should be on your Certificate of Registration, it is given on mine.Originally posted by ankit mishra View Posthi,

You can also use VIN Decoder for KTM to find out the date of manufacture if you can find one on the internet that works for
Indian made KTMs. I tried couple of sites but didn't work as the decoder was provided by either European or
USA based websites. VIN is a 17 digit alpha/numeric number that is also given on the Certificate of Registration,
it is the Chasis number I believe.

Well i have clocked 920 on odo and will run another 40 odd in morning just to run till 7k rpm before the service.Originally posted by saunakhvshg View PostThanks for the information. Regarding the FE i will update as soon as i go for the next filling.

Just make sure you check/change these things( the rest i feel not as important as these.)
Engine oil semi synthetic( considering that you did not wear the engine fully ( based on your stated riding conditions))
Chain tension
Chain lube( hope you are aware of mandatory lubrication every 500 kms)
Just check the following are okay
Coolant level
Check break liquid
Wheel alignment
Well every bike and dealer are different.
So no advice is universal, hence ride to your content and give it to the first service

While ive seen these mileage figures on my bike, trust me, all the fun lies above the rpm at which you get these speeds.Originally posted by emothic View PostHi everone . Here's my part on the Duke.
