At what speeds are you downshifting from 2nd to 1st? If the speed is low and you are soft on your gear shift then it is bound to come to neutral.
Else, experienced folks around here might be able to guide you. I don't own the Katoom, but thinking of an upgrade from my Pulsar 150.

I mentioned the same problem a few pages back. They adjusted (reduced) the play in the shifter in my 2nd free service and that seems to have almost fixed the problem. Duke's gearbox isn't one of the best to begin with, though.

In other news, i have noticed that Motul 7100 runs atleast 1 bar hotter than Motul 300V. Have only ridden for 1 week since the oil change but it definitely seems to be a consistent trend.

I am super excited n happy but even confused and i am confused because while taking delivery of my bike the store manager made it very clear to me that i have to fill all premium fuels lyk (extra-premium,speed,power) and out here you all are lyk i can fill normal fuel. So which fuel should i actually fill plz reply and also do i seriously need to keep 3 ltrs in the tank always or else the fuel pump would get spoiled????

Premium fuels are recommended as they are slightly better quality than normal ones (less amount of adulterants). It is not mandatory to go for premium fuels. I have been running mine on normal shell fuel with premium once in 2-3 months for last 11000 kms. No problems so far. The fuel pump might get damaged if you have a habit of running bike till its empty ie no more fuel. It is safe to run it as long as there is some amount of fuel.

Use Premium fuel for initial 1000kms i.e. till breakin period. Once you are done, you can go for normal fuel and occasionally premium fuel say once in a month as @sonu611 mentioned. I use speed in mine.

Have you read the manual yet ? If not, do read it at least once, that should clear your doubt on fuel and many other things.

                      • 1st service

Got my first free service done today at auto service. I did not have any prior experience of this place, but chose to get it done there based on what I heard.

                        first the numbers...
                        odometer reading: 1062
                        total amount: 540.00
                        motul 7100 (400 ml, because I was carrying 1 ltr): 271
                        oil filter: 65
                        3M wax polish: 34
                        chain lubrication: 67
                        consumables: 40
                        vat, st: 63

I had mentioned these 3 issues:
                        - Tilted handle bar / posture: Mr. Venkat himself confirmed after a ride, that there might be a slight tilt and will have it fixed, but it wasn't.
                        - Plastic banging sound: Tightening the chain fixed it.
                        - Squeaking sound from the front discs: Fixed after I brought it to the mechanic's notice in the evening. He used a 3M spray.

                        Now the observations:
                        - Massive heating. Within 5 minutes of riding (max 5k rpm) the indicator was mid way. By the time I reached home, which is a 10 km ride, it was at 2 bars below max. I'm not sure if the fan was on, but anyway turned it off and let it cool down. Turned it on again after an hour and a half, and I see 1 bar even before starting. This never happened during the run in. Is this due to changing to motul 7100?
                        - Significant chain noise from the front sprocket: Don't know if its because the chain is much tighter now, but it sounds bad.
                        - Evenly spaced loud clicks from rear sprocket: Noticed when moving the bike forward. Again, tight chain?
                        - Non existent rear brakes and reduced bite from the front.

I did bring some of these to the mechanic's notice, but he wanted me to come back if I thought there was a problem. So yeah, I'll have to go back.

Got an FE of 36+ it with some 100kms of highway riding and the rest 195kms around of city riding. Petrol used SHELL normal

I went for a spin on the high way was constantly around 90 - 100 n touched a max of 115 (riding at night ) the display showed a mileage of 40

                          • Did a TD on the Duke yesterday! Holy molly! Won me over completely! I’ve decided to put my money on this machine!
(390 releasing mid-March, the sales guy said; alas, gonna be quite surely out of my budget!)

(Realization – reading different reports and user experiences about this bike on different sites, I was very skeptical of the suspension. Things turned out to be different, thankfully so, in the test ride. The suspension felt surely not-bad, though not as spongy as the Impulse that I’m a big fan of. That’s when it dawned on me – theory of relativity! For someone who has been riding a 10 year old, entry-level 100cc bike, the suspension did feel far better! I can bloody darn well live with this if I’ve managed to survive with my current bike for more than a decade! Note to self – always test-ride!)

                            Some quick queries:
                            1. The sales dude says the servicing, although done at Bajaj service stations, would be done by a dedicated team of technicians who have been trained by KTM. How far is this true? If yes, are such ‘KTM technicians‘ available at all major Bajaj service stations in Bangalore?
                            2. I’m told that the bike’s delivery would happen at the nearby Bajaj service station and not at the KTM showroom. Is this how it’s normally done?
                            3. Is there a pre-delivery checklist available anywhere in these pages?

                              1. Yes, but only at service stations which are authorized by KTM. You can find that list on the KTM India website.
                              2. Yes, bajaj handles delivery.
