ABHISHEK 2255-Something that i wanted to ask before i go is that my bikes chain is very lose even after fixing it a couple of times, it just keeps banging against the swingarm, the odo has some 11k odd kms on it, so is the time to change the sprockets or something ? Or what is it thats causing this issue ?[/QUOTE]

I was also facing ths problem for quite some time and i had tried quite a lot of things lyk cleaning, lubing, tightening the chain but the only thing that worked for me was replacing the chain slider and since than i have never got that KHAt-KHAt sound again. My odo was just 5k but still the slider was totally scraped off. So i think first u need to give the chain slider a try as that would just cost u just sumthing around 150.

I didn't observe the coolant can. I'm not sure if it was a ready-to-use type or if it required diluting. Anyway, I haven't faced any overheating issue. On long rides, the perimeter frame would catch the heat from the engine and even now it's all the same. The old coolant was 17000 kms old. Is there anything I should watch out for with the newly added coolant?
If you do not have heating issues then let it be...just ensure you have adequate liquid in the Radiator at all times...

      • Service guy using different engine oil then recommanded

Hello everyone,I live in Delhi. A few days ago i went to Bajaj authorized service center for the first free service of my baby duke 200.There i told the service guy to fill Motul engine oil instead of Bajaj DTSI 1000. Then he told me to use Agip full synthetic oil as it is cheaper than motul one. He showed me a white barrel and said that agip oil is in that barrel, i immediately refused because there was no seal and even no agip stickers on that barrel. I again asked him to fill the motul one, then he got 4 1L motul engine oil bottles. 2 for my duke and 2 for an other duke. He asked me to wait for 2 minutes as the another duke owner was in hurry,so he start filling 1.5L oil in the other duke, while he was filling i suddenly notices that the oil grade was 10w40 instead of 20w50. i immediately opened the owners manual to confirm the grade and it was 20w50 in the owner's manual. I immediately told the service guy that the recommended grade is 20w50, then he told me every oil have its own grade so 10w40 grade will not cause any problem. i showed him the owners manual and said i want this oil only. Then went inside a room and got 2 1L Motul 7100 4T 20w50 bottle and filled in my duke.
So my question is will 10w40 cause any problem to the duke's engine?

Yes, it might and most probably it would harm ghe engine. At higher temp the duke needs 50 viscosity(as recommended) for proper lubing of engine internals but in this case(10w40) the oil would lose its viscosity and that thin oil would not be able to stick to the parts to be able to lubricate it well enough. Over a long time the engine would really suffer.

I had an accident yesterday on my duke. A cement truck coming from the oppsite direction broke the signal and crossed my path. I tried my best to dodge it but i was too fast and ended up hiting da rear wheel of the truck. The truck guy dint stop and ran away. I dint get get to see the number plate of the truck. Now the front portion of my bike is smashed. My helmet also cracked.i got a few scraches on my left leg and left hand and my jaw is paining alot. I went to the police station. They said they cant do anything since i dint see the number plate. I want to repair my bike now. I know it will cost a lot of money so i wanna do it through the insurance company. My bike is 9 months old and i am the 1st owner. Can someone tell me the procedure to get an insurance claim?

This is india buddy.. Never trust the red light.. Here red light means 'cross the road as fast as possible'
just go to the svc and tell them that you want to claim your insurance.. They will do the necessary and the insurancy guy will come and just follow the procedure.. (I might be worng here with something, so let others tell how its properly done)

Go to the svc and they give you a form to fill up. This form is of whichever company you have taken your insurance from. The details of the bike, owner, damages and a description of how the accident occurred is to be given. A small sketch is also to be made to describe the position of bike after the accident. That's it, they then inspect the bike and make a job card. The surveyor gives the details of the claim the company can give. Surveyors visit the svc only when called so this would take a little time. Take care buddy.

7000 kms is too less for the chain set to be changed. I think you should 1st change the chain slider and see if it solves the problem. It cost around only 150 bucks.

I didn't understand the highlighted part lol. red light means cross the road as fast as possible ?? or you mean "an empty intersection means cross the road as fast as possible" ? When it's empty ppl will cross it in a hurry, so always gotta slow down if you're running towards green light to make it through in time, check left/right/oncoming, then proceed.

Oh, sad to hear that man. Claiming insurance isn't that difficult. take your bike to SVC somehow, tell the probiking manager about your accident, he'll inspect your bike & tell you about the number of parts that will need replacement and over all cost of repiars. The amount that you must ask from the insurance guy. Fill in the form, do not mention to anyone that your speed was above 60kmph. An insurance inspector should come and visit the SVC to inspect your vehicle and check for the parts that actually need to be replaced. It should be approved in no time, but u will pay for it. A check will be sent to ur home later in few weeks time. Remember one thing, do not let them hammer your bike. What these ppl may do is hammer the old broken parts like.. say a slightly bent but repairable Rim while it's still attached to the bike.. they'll hammer it and make it unsuable.. AFAIK it's asked by the Insurance inspector so nobody salvages from the old broken parts. Let them hammer it after they've been taken off from your bike.

I didn't know 20w50 is advised for Duke200, same for 200NS. I thought Duke uses 10w40 because that's what the guys at Suman Bajaj@Noida probiking always put in their Dukes/Ninjas. They only have Motul 7100 10w40 in stock and use it in all Dukes they service. as well as Ninja250/650. Guess they don't care much about what KTM actually suggests for the Duke.

                              i'm not talking about myself..
have seen many people on bikes and even cars trying to jump the light.. they couldn't wait for it to go green.. i was talking about them..
even in busy intersections, some fools will always try to jump the light.. and at times, crash into the on-coming traffic..

The duke and the ns use the same engine except for the gear ratios, the exhaust and the head. So same engine oil grade. Ask those faggots to do it the right way else you'll complain, then see their expression, would be massive fun. Also help others by making them aware and tell them that if this has already done some damage and anything happens to the engine they are responsible for every bike that has been serviced there.
