Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hello people, have you all checked out the redesigned gear lever(shifter pedal)?, mine broke and when I went to get it replaced, I got a pleasant surprise when I saw the lever has been largely redesigned. The bush has been replaced with a bearing and the shifter juts out a wee bit more and now covers more than just the tip of the toe. check it out.
all the best

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Try 41T bro. IMO It's perfect for the duke considering both city rides and highway rideability.Originally posted by splus View PostOne more reason to get a Kiirus ECU...
I guess I'll try both 42T and 40T when I change the chain, and will see what is better.
But yes, quite a few times it came to my mind that D200 gearing is just too short (at least with 43T), and that even the acceleration is slower because of that. As @Aditya N Bharadwaj said, it just FEELS faster, but little taller gearing is faster. Not sure about 42T vs 40T...
My NS is running a bigger tyre at the rear. So with stock 39/14 ratio, it felt a wee bit sluggish. Was equivalent to running a 38/14 ratio. Now I'm back to 13T front so the ratio is shorter than stock NS and taller than stock duke. You can relate it to 41/14 or something. And since it's modded a little, acceleration is a tad better than the CBR 250.
Thought I'll give an update, tested it today.
Now imagine duke with this ratio.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Re: Tiger Duke
Sanchit Arora Duke in that livery indeed looks like a Tiger
A few Q's concerning your windscreen:
Can you tell me how does that Fazer windscreen fare on high speed run at say 100/120+ kph?
Does it has any undue vibrations?
Remember, last time you posted a pic of your Duke with Fazer windscreen along with steps for installing it, that pic had couple of iron rods connecting windscreen to the handle bar which i do not see, hence the above questions...
How much protection it offer from the wind blast?
Thanks,
Saravanan

Re: KTM 200 Duke
splus and chinmayakar before i did suggest that going for a 40T sprocket will be better. No doubt that will be little relaxed and you can hit a little more top end in that. But here is the observation i made over the last 2 full tanks of run. The entire way how the load is applied and the fueling will change completely when you do this. So to compensate this the ECU will start running rich mixture there by bike wont feel so lively as a stock bike. This effect is partly due to the fact that its running a taller sprocket but the whole feeling of the bike changes and if observed carefully and you can make out. So you guys take a call accordingly if you want to go for the 40T or not.
Few days back i have got the Race dynamics piggy back ECU and trying a whole lot of things and pretty happy with the results.
Reason i personally went for a piggy back Vs a remap
* The fun of tuning you bike yourself will get you a lot more closer to every reaction or change in the bikes behavior
* You can keep playing around with it anytime you want and what every maps you want, be it aggressive map when your in a sprinting mode or eco mode when you want to extract best out of it or a mix of both
* Below are the FE fig's all testing in perfect Bangalore mid to peak traffic times, the Fig will be a lot better in less traffic areas and highways - Fuel used in all tests is Shell super
- Best FE figs in stock ECU - 34.5 - 35.3kmpl (43T rear Sprocket)
- Best FE with Stock ECU and 40T sprocket - 30.8kmpl
- Best FE with race dynamics piggy back ecu(RD's map) and 43T sprocket - 36.8kmpl
- Best FE on a economy map i tried - 40.2kmpl
- Best FE on a mild aggressive map i tried, where in i was at least 2 secs quicker than the stock KTM - 37.2Kmpl
- Best FE on a real aggressive map i tried was 33kmpl the initials are almost close to a power wheelie till 4th gear
* Its always safe to play around with a piggy back as you ll only be altering very little things yet will make a significant change but at the same time its reverse able pretty easily
* Dont need to worry abt the warranty as its plug and play can remove it when i leave the bike at the svc
* I can keep changing the maps based on my riding requirements and mod requirements
* The most important of all points the speed limiter is removed and i dont have to worry about removing some wires for it
* The RD's map is supposed to do a top end of around 150 but haven't got a chance to try till so much due to a lot of wind drag and rains in the last few days, the last i tried was 140 without any hiccups ( assuming with a 40T sprocket achieving 155 -160 should be possible need to try it some day)
* The rpm limiter can be set according to what i want right now its at 11,503 and its the same limiter in all gears, even in 5th and 6th gear so that helps the pulling in the top end
* In future with just a few changes i can use it on any of the bikes that use a ECU ( R15 or CBR or Bullet 500) so return on investment is higher
Next planned upgrades are:
-Engine Ice coolant
- Spark plug
- If i retain this bike for longer time will get a mild cam ( that's a big IF
)
- Stock chain sprocket 42T, it should improve the over all drive ability with out a lot of effect on any calc of the ECU( there might be slight effect which can hardly be felt)
Will post the spark plug pics soon to show the burning in each maps which may give a better comparison.Cheers,
Chethan
