Re: KTM 200 Duke
So far my log goes like this: First of all, the number plate light, then the chain started to make grinding noises, and then an oil leak from the cylinder head, then the charging coil. I agree that they may have compromised on quality, I don't know for what reason, though. It is in fact an excellent machine, but hamstrung by the inferior parts Bajaj manufactures, sad indeed.Originally posted by sonu611 View Post

Warning: Long Rant ahead

Defenitely mate. The bike is awesome but the quality of parts is very bad.
For me
1. Fork seal busted (2 times)
2. Water(vapour?) in indicators, headlight and console
3. Busted console (service centre guys told some short circuit when they did maintainence - not sure)
4. Brake pads making noise after 3,000 kms
5. Busted alternator and battery at 24000 kms
6. Chain and sproket busted at 10k kms (+ chain slider)
7. Starter switch and clutch sensor not working properly (humidity + rain I think)
=================
Edit:
Forgot to mention the oil leak from bad gasket that took 4 tries and lots and lots of gasket cement and silicone sealant to fix.
===============
Have heard of problems with clutch plates after 10,000 kms from doga. never got mine checked out of fear that I have to spend more money.
All these problems compounded by the ignorant service centre guys.
Even after repeated pleas they never checked the valve clearance. The engine is making weird sounds now.
The ASC guys dont know difference between torque wrench and a monkey wrench, they always use pneumatic wrench on everything.
Asc people have never heard about thread locker (locitite).
And the worst part is that spare parts are impossible to buy, in case you think you would replace them yourself.
The brake pads cost about 300(front + rear) but replacing them cost 400 as service cost.
The foot rest assembly costs ~550 for one side replacing them is another 500Rs..
===============
Sorry for the long post. But I am truly frustrated with the service and quality of the bike.Last edited by sonu611; 03-05-2014, 01:45 AM.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Your post kind of scares me! Even the new machines and less than six-month old ones are getting shot and what would happen once the warranty runs out? I agree that the service center people are not up to the mark, I saw once they using a hammer quite profusely on the bike. I always linger around to see what they do, and also tip the main mechanic so that he'd be loyal. (I hope.)Originally posted by sonu611 View PostWarning: Long Rant ahead

The parts are comparitively cheap for such a bike, and brake pad removal and reinstallation is easy task. Structural stuff at least we can do, where complex repairs are not necessary, like the foot peg changing, and we should encourage bikers to do the little things that we can do ourselves and save the heartache.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hey, no worries mate. Went to Sai Service, Lower Parel, turns out it was some fault in the wiring. No current was going to the rear one and it was all diverted to the front indicator. Hence this issue.Originally posted by Janesh.J View PostSorry bro, my bad. In that case you can get it fixed under warranty.
Got it sorted without any charges!

Same here mate, happened to me in October, I thought it was because of the rains!Originally posted by leorcid View PostSame thing happened to me too. While I was riding, the speedometer stopped working and would come on intermittently. After some time, it started showing low battery. I went straight to the service center and they fixed it in two hours or so. I was not charged since I am in warranty period. The complaint was the same, burnt charging coil. There may not be a particular reason for the coil to be blown, at least there is nothing you can do to burn the coil.
Turns out I was wrong.
And yeah, the ASC guys didn't bother giving a proper/logical reason. Also I was charged 140/- for something called 'Packing'.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I have done 8400 kms so far. The thing about batteries is that there are a million things that could go wrong, short plates and what not. At times it happens, I had an FZ, and its battery was shot within three months, and for two days I had to handcrank the bike. Usual battery life is said to be three to five years, but it depends on a lot of things like regular charging and if it sustained any heavy shocks and so on.Originally posted by N E S T O Network View PostBro How Many Total KM's Have You Clocked?

no i am still having my duke200, and planning for Leh trip, so was thinking if i can get this windshield for long trips...
it will look good on the bike... and might provide a little resistance to the wind as well.
also i am thinking of putting clip on handle bars to my bike, My back pains on duke sitting position..

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Curved disc spring washer that goes with the drain plug. It's just a washer, but made of spring material and the washer disc is curved so that the spring material aids to better tighten the device.Originally posted by dukist View PostGot my first service done . Service center switched to Motul Engine oil FS and bike feels awesome now . There is this item which I just saw in the invoice ' Spring washer' ( INR 10 ). What is this ?Last edited by leorcid; 03-07-2014, 02:24 AM.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Dukers,
For those who want to know till how many KM's(approximately) you can ride your duke from the time you see the 'F-Mode' with "LOW FUEL LEVEL" warning, starts flashing on the COCKPIT, It's 58.2 KM's for me(I know that the figure changes from bike to bike depending on their riding style). So, the best time to refill the gas will be 50. If someone really want to see the deadline, please have a spare of 1L with you(Which I for got to.
)
