For a decent machine, from what I heard, clutch plates should last somewhere around 30-40,000 Kms. Depending on the style of use - If you slip clutch too much or do clutch wheelies and burnouts or if there is no free play on your clutch lever, then the clutch plates can get damaged in 5-10,000 kms also.
For Bajaj quality, if your clutch plate lasts 20,000 kms I would consider it good. I think mine are almost done (25,000kms) gear lever travel is too much when engaging gears.
How do you mean here? Your gear lever is affected by clutch disc wear?

I have noticed that the fuel economy has decreased a bit for the past few weeks. Earlier I had to refuel after say every 5 days. These days the bars disappear rather quickly and end of heading to the pump pretty soon.
To check the mileage I did a tankful to tankful and I got 28.75 kmpl. This is indeed much lower than the consistent 33-35kmpl I used to get earlier, although I agree it's been almost an year I bothered to check the mileage using the tankful method.
Is this too low? What's the average econ for guys here? I do not think I have suddenly become an aggressive rider, in fact I think it;s the opposite. I have mellowed down a bit.
What could be causing this? I am not much worried about the financial aspect of it, but rather the thought that something might be wrong with the engine?
My clutch plates need replacement as per the svc, could they be responsible? If yes then how? Is there more friction leakages in the plates? I don't understand much about them!!

I'm getting around 33 to 35 kmpl too. However sometimes it goes on till 39. I don't think the svc would be responsible for worn out clutch plates. It totally depends on one's riding style. Once they wear out, the friction between them decreases causing loss in power transmission.

@rk_hooligan please do post a review of the Michelins.

I've done 10k kms so far and have changed the chainset by Rolon, seems like Rolon is the oem supplier for bajaj. I've reduced the sprocket to 42T (stock was 43T). No issues so far, bike feels a little relaxed (might be placebo effect, but I felt it a little relaxed).

Has anyone changed their footpegs? I wanted to change mine to those thin metal ones like the Ninja, our current footpegs are quite uncomfortable while wearing boots.
Are you filling the tyres with nitrogen?
I had the same problems couple of months back. 9 punctures in 2 weeks was the score!!
I used to look for glasses and nails on the highways all the time while riding.
But started filling with nitrogen and haven't had a puncture since September!!
Not sure how punctures and nitrogen are related but you can give it a try..

Is that 33-35 kmpl in city riding or highways??
I get the same but 80% of my riding is on highway since my office is in Hinjewadi..

I have done around 700 KM. Happily : ) . No issues till now , bike has got much smoother and accelerates effortlessly . Although I have kept the bike around 5-6 K RPM in each gear most of the times and have started to ride the bike till 85 KMH in top gear for few seconds . Slowly increasing the pace .

Should I continue like this ? Giving a nice gentle throttle and gradually increase speeds by +5 KMH in a day or two till 1000 KMS are done . Can I get the RPM upto 9-10 for a few seconds once in a while ?

Initially the supervisor told me that I'll have to pay for it, and I said I won't, since it was maintained according to the service manual. They didn't oppose after that and changed it right away. I wasn't even charged for labor.
Replacement under warranty does not attract labour charges.

If your chain is making a grinding kind of noise, do check the chain slider for wear. The rear part of the slider is prone to wear and exposes the screw going through it which rubs against the chain making the noise.

I am having the same issue and wud be replacing the slider, thought the ASC claims that chain is worn out. Hope it helps.

I think both of our bikes have manufactured at the same time by the same guy(Bhai - Bhai type). The Issues what you are putting here are crossing with mine as well. Welcome! Join the Club. Even I feel the same here, The mileage figures have drastically dropped, but the distance I ride these days got reduce around 10 km every day. So, I don't feel any diff in the interval of filling the tank. But it's bothering me now. My friend, who is sound in technical stuff, saying that short rides will definitely impact your mileage(means reduces the economy).

I go from viman nagar to my college in akurdi. So more than 60% is highway.

Just rode a stock duke 200. Found the handlebars to be a bit higher than mine (I'm using 390s handlebars) and realised the relaxed position 390s handlebars offer.

What is the time to change brake pads? my bike has clocked 9.7k kms and the brakes now lack that punch

Do u have to duck down a bit with the 390 handlebars??

No idea about the brake pads bro I have just done 7900 kms yet and they are still pretty good. Just had them scrubbed once during 2nd servicing..

No ducking needed but the posture becomes a bit relaxed. Also they are slightly wider than stock 200.

About the brake pads - looking at the price list on the first page they look pretty cheap whereas people tell otherwise

Haha. maybe!! Actually, most of my riding is on the thane belapur road and EE highway before I take a turn for Powai.
Not the most traffic choked sections I'd say, certainly not at times when I ride(around 12 in the afternoon and 11-12 pm in the night). The mileage is too low for this kind of riding
