        Hello guys,
As I have been planning to buy Duke 200, I have been trying to get rides as much as possible to get the feel of it....till now I have ridden it 2 times...one was my friends and one today a TD vehicle....and there was a clear difference in the character of both the bikes...which brings me to my question....

On the bike I rode today, when I opened the throttle in second gear, the bike did not deliver power immediately, it was like the bike waited till reaching 5k-6k rpm and there was a sudden surge of power after that...but this did not happen in my friends bike which I rode earlier....now this confuses me...I mean what is the real character of the bike in general?
Does it not deliver the power linearly as the 390 does?
Either I could not judge the bike on my first ride or the TD vehicle was not in very good shape?

        Help would be appreciated.

        Thanks
        Akshay

1.Duke 200 power delivery is not linear, it comes in brutal bursts giving that adrenalin shots of acceleration.
2.Your friend's bike is in good condition so the quick reaction, the TD vehicles are generally not kept well so the delay in reaction to throttle input.
3.NO, the 200 power delivery is not linear as 390.
          4.Hope this helps.

              • Fule meter and others- questions on duke 200

                Hi
Its almost one month using my duke 200 . Am loving it and learning it . Can anyone help me with below questions.( as my intro says am learning driving techniques and improving them )

                1. When my fuel meter is at the last bar ( just before the reserve level) it suddenly jumps down to reserve level. Then Trip F starts. This goes on few kilometers and then it comes out of reserve and then fuel meter again shows the last bar before fuel bar. After some kilometer it goes back to reserve. Why is this so ? Its difficult to confirm if reserve has already started. Also difficult to measure my mileage. How do you guys measure mileage on duke since there is no reserve knob.

                2. Is the mileage meter accurate( with some tolerance of course). Can I rely on it to get the max fuel efficiency?

                3. I find it difficult to take u-turn on duke. More often bike starts to topple down. Is it just me or anybody else facing the same problem?

The fuel meter doesn't return accurate figures like the speedo(the speedo is one of the most accurate around).
There is a bit of hesitation at the cusp (the point where it is decided that the fuel level has crossed a minimum level), mainly due to the fact that fuel splashes around and this is a digital system. Refill soon after it flashes low fuel warning to save the fuel pump and learn to live with this behaviour
To calculate accurately you need to use tankful to tankful method: Fill the tank to the brim, set one of the trip meter to zero and ride. When you run out of fuel again do a tankful. The amount going in would be what the bike consumed over the distance recorded by the tripmeter. An accurate mileage figure can then be arrived at.
This is usually 30-35 for healthy dukes on this forum. If you ride sedately then close to 40kmpl can be had.

The mileage calculation on the MFD is kind of instantaneous and will keep on changing as per your ride conditions.

The turn limiters on the TEE(the silver aluminium part which holds the forks beneath the headlamp) limit the turning radius of the bike. This can be bothersome in the beginning but you'll learn to live with it. Learn only throttle modulation to control your speeds without using your feet to aid, while you take short turns. This will quickly have you master turning the bike. Take it easy on the throttle while taking turns.

A guy wants me to put Raceline Stickers on his Duke, I have never put stickers like that on Duke, so I'm somewhat confused about the process. Will I have to remove the existing stickers to put on the Raceline stickers? Any precautions which should be taken?

Please do not attempt it if you don't want to loose a friend

The curved nature of the tank ensures trapped air in between sticker and tank if done by us lesser mortals.
Even the svcs here do not attempt it and leave you to fend for yourself with the stickers(in case of tank replacement or raceline sticker change)

Find out who does these kind of stickering jobs around your area. Here soap water is used to place the sticker and avopid bubbles. Some guys use heat guns.

I have done stickering jobs before but this Duke is new to me, I have put transparent lays on countless number of cellphone screens during my previous job as a cellphone repair guy and I have a pretty steady hand. I don't think soap water and a heat gun is a good idea since both lye and heat damages paint and vinyl. I guess I'd have to tell my friend about this and only proceed if he agrees to take the risk.

With all due respect, putting a 5 inch (and a bit thick screen) on a flat glass surface to me is vastly easier than putting the sticker on the curvacious tank. It's pretty difficult without soap water. Besides mild bathing soap won't wash the vinyl away in one application.
If you have done it before and are hence confident then please go ahead else I think Rs 200 is a small price to pay for a nice application.
Trapped air bubbles are irritating, besides they expand in the heat damaging the stickering further.

Rest is upto you and your friend's leap of faith

Heat guns are always used for vinyl application as far as I've seen and they do not damage it . Not sure about soap water .

AH Helmets from Andheri, Mumbai has quoted me 1500/- for a full sticker job. Is this a good price or should I bargain for more?

Has anyone installed the original KTM Tankpad?....I plan to get the TankPad and Rim Stickers when I purchase the bike...I saw the print on TankPad was Rs 2000.

Are these Powerparts too expensive as compared to the normal aftermarket ones?...Premium for brand is fine but is it too much?...I did not get chance to go and ask for prices of non KTM ones...but I am sure everyone here must have a TankPad.
