• Re: KTM 200 Duke

I'm afraid that's incorrect, its 2 years/30000 kms.
And in any case, my bike's less than 2 yrs. old. Will be heading to the ASC to sort it out soon.

Sorry bro, my bad. In that case you can get it fixed under warranty.

Push up the gear and pull in the throttle! And go Zip zap zoom...You'll never notice when you reached 100. You'll be redlining the bike in no time!
And yes...you can use a stopwatch attached to the handle bar or a android app with phone attached to the handlebar using a phone holder.

To get accurate data regarding speed, ONLY a data logger can help. But it is very costly. Reputed models cost more than the Duke!
To get a rough idea, download "Ulysse Speedometer" Android App and switch ON the GPS and bingo.

Thanks @Edd @Divya Sharan . I ll try those apps . I am a responsible mature rider and yes ofcourse I ll do that in an open people/traffic free zone. Safety First : ) .

One more thing I'v noticed ( ODO reading 950 KM ) that smoothness of the engine has gone . Bike feel more stressed and engine braking is way more than it was earlier . It's like engine is always way more active and stressed and I mean why engine braking has increased so much ?. Vibrations are more on foot pads . Growling has increased twice . I don't know if its good or bad I liked the smooth acceleration it has 'once' : ( . What could be the reason ?

I rode the bike mostly under 5K for the first 500 KMs and after that under 6K till 800 Kms and after that started touching 7K ( 90+ KMPH ) in top gears (and tamed other gears with high-rpm shots too )occasionally after that only the engine feels a bit changed. I guess it's me only who is getting used to bike's acceleration . Now it just feels so slow in 50ish and whenever I look down the speedo ..its doing 70ish in 4-5 gear and it doesn't feel a thing.

Tomorrow going to the service center for it's first service , maybe things will change after engine oil change.

Overall I am amazed . Now I find long routes to home . I just don't want to get off this duke the nuke

Yes u are right. After the 1st service ur bike will be more smooth and vibration free than it used to be before.

The piston block should be under 10 K.
I would not boast of a no problem engine despite the various other niggles because last time when I claimed to have had no episode of coolant overspill here I had the first episode the very next day
Just call up the svc and inquire.

hi guys i have a small question regarding a small problem i faced the other day, with my duke 200 while riding back from panchgani. My battery would not charge and the broke down near Pune. Service center guys said the stator assembly was burnt. They would not tell me why. Can someone help?

so my friends gifted me these awesome adjustable levers . pls ignore the dirt on them , it rained here @Aniket6626 @thejester @manthan4040 AnmolChandra

They are short hence support max 2 to 3 fingers on them and work amazingly.

Same thing happened to me too. While I was riding, the speedometer stopped working and would come on intermittently. After some time, it started showing low battery. I went straight to the service center and they fixed it in two hours or so. I was not charged since I am in warranty period. The complaint was the same, burnt charging coil. There may not be a particular reason for the coil to be blown, at least there is nothing you can do to burn the coil.

If you ask me, all the parts on bajaj made KTM are of very low quality. That is the reason why the alternator/charging coil is burning out at less than 20,000 kms. Compared to cars or other quality motorcycles where the alternators last for more than 150,000 kms.

One thing I have experienced is that the quality of parts used on the Bajaj made dukes are very low. The bike is awesome, no doubt about it, but it is not made to last. It is best to enjoy these till the warranty period (30000km/2 years) and scrap them.

I have had all the problems mentioned in this thread and more, I am fed up. Never buying a Bajaj product ever, will not accept one even if given for free.
Hoping to get my hands on hero HXR 250 and convert it to a street fighter(hoping with both fingers, legs and all other appendages crossed that hero has a bit more quality than the bajaj).

The shorty levers looks nice, and it seems you have some sort of bar end sliders/weights, which company are those and if you dont mind, please share the cost and source of both the shorty levers and bar end sliders.

Did you cut off the sides from the grip or did you use the duke 390 grips?

The levers costed 1.7k and were bought from Motozone pune.
I have installed the handlebar, grips and bar end sliders of 390. Bar end sliders were 64 rs each
