Re: KTM 200 Duke
I will get it checked at svc, lets see what will be the cause. One of my friend on fb who also have duke suggested me that it could also be a faulty spark plug. Now the really problem is how i am gonna take my bike to svc because its really hard toOriginally posted by aadilnaik View PostOr it might be adulterated fuel causing the shut down... Although most of the guys here didn't replied to my query, but i would like to share what was the problem so that this dosen't happen to anyone else's ride.
Today i was thinking of going to svc, i started the bike and it was the same, within 5 seconds of starting it stalled. Now someone yesterday told that this problem could be due to spark plug fault, when i checked the spark plug holder was loose, i just pushed it in and after that the bike was normal. So i'll have to get the spark plug holder changed.
I think everyone should go through this post because this can happen to anybody's ride and if you don't know what's the fault you can be stranted in the middle of nowhere.
Thanks guys

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Sure bro, that would be awesome and btw where r u located in Delhi ?Originally posted by AkshayA View PostThanks bro for the advices...maybe this is the reason that the svc guys were looking at each other and saying how did this get missed in PDI....probably they check this also in PDI. They were concerned that it will be an issue for them.
OT-And I see your location as Delhi...probably we can go for a ride sometime
On another note, two guys at svc with their Dukes noticed that my Dukes rear tyre had deeper treads than theirs and I could also see it....Will upload the pic when possible.
Also 1 question...is it possible to know the color of your bike from the Chassis Number?
Color from chasis number , no idea about that if they have used any particular notation in chasis number for some colour code reprsntation . Will do more search on that : ) --> http://support.ktm-parts.com/entries...fication-Chart
and how is your 'ride' doin ?Last edited by dukist; 03-24-2014, 10:09 PM.READY TO RACE >>

Apart from the headlight niggle, the ride is awesomeOriginally posted by dukist View PostSure bro, that would be awesome and btw where r u located in Delhi ? In a particular case, when I leave the headlight switch ON and switch off the engine with key maybe, it stops working after turning the engine on. It has happened only two times......it starts working by switching the engine off and back on.
And it has been two times in three days, people asking "How much does this bike cost" on the traffic lights......the feeling is unexplainable
I live in Noida...will PM you....a ride would be fantastic

Re: KTM 200 Duke
The Duke's headlight has a function incorporated into it where it turns on when the bike rolls, even with the engine not running but the ignition on. May be this is what you are referring to.Originally posted by AkshayA View PostApart from the headlight niggle, the ride is awesome

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hey buddy, pics of the Michelin Front Tire as requested... I've been paying closer attention to it, and I realised why it inspires so much confidence, beside the grip... You know normally, you need to "hold" a bike in a turn to keep it turning? As in, if you stop apply turn pressure, it tends to straighten out on it's own? Well this is where the Michelin is different... You put it into a turn, and the bike just stays at that lean angle UNTIL you apply a force to straighten it out! This means your turns are just sooooo smooth, not jittering and constany adjusting of turn angle! I love it!Originally posted by Evander_F View Post@aadilnaik Sweet! I'l check with my svc about the Metzeler pricing, I think my revz can last another 2-3k kms. Do provide more reviews and maybe a pic of the Pilot Street front tyre.
I'm mainly worried about punctures, if I put the Metzelers, it will be a rather costly affair incase i suffer major punctures. I already had 6 on my current revz
I think people may disagree as to thins being an advantage or disadvantage, but I guess it's a matter of opinion eh?

Imagine this...Yesterday in the evening, was dark, I was standing at a traffic signal....the headlight switch was in ON position....lights were working....Now without touching the headlight switch, I killed the engine using engine kill switch...the headlight went off as expected....
After a minute or so, I switched ON the engine kill and fired the engine....the lights were suppose to come ON, but they did'nt...I did not touch the headlight switch at any point..
I had to cross the intersection, stop at a side...and kill engine twice to get the headlights working...I was saying to myself, what if the lights do not come up at all....my ride would have been ruined...
2nd visit to svc in 5 days of ownership speaks volumes about the quality KTM has been manufacturing.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I agree it saves the battery...but it should come back ON...else it is a major issue wandering in night without headlights.Originally posted by rohitj View PostSame happened to me once. But thus function of light getting off save battery a lot.
