The engine doesn't engage when you press the starter button when in gear ,even with the clutch engaged. This is admittedly a minor issue , but bothers me nonetheless. What if while in the middle of a crossing. The bike stalls and I am in a gear. This has happened before and I then simply pull the clutch start and move avoiding the oncoming traffic.
I think something called a clutch switch needs to be replaced which tells the starter that the clutch is engaged. I found a pulsar having the same issue on this forum and since the switchgear is exactly the pulsar's I think I might have a quick fix.
I've also got this problem and the thing is my bike still jerks , stalls at times during low speeds, in heavy traffic and while moving from the lights and I've got to shift to neutral before starting it. Very irritating.
Also another problem is that if the bike is redlined in the lower gears like till 3rd or 4th gear and then when I slow down the bike switches off..then I've got to shift to neutral before starting. Highly embarrassing
Anyone faced this issue?

Re: Issue Alert
As I said, can be due to a faulty 'clutch switch' . I'll try to see if it can be sorted just by cleaning or a replacement is needed.Originally posted by rajesh7 View PostI've also got this problem and the thing is my bike still jerks , stalls at times during low speeds, in heavy traffic and while moving from the lights and I've got to shift to neutral before starting it. Re: Issue Alert
Today I happened to get air pressure checked in my bike's types after a long time and it was 12PS in the front and 13PS in the rear.
Apart from low mileage, what I'll effects can it have on the bike riding with such low air pressure?
Do tyres wear out faster?Last edited by AkshayA; 08-10-2014, 02:25 AM.

Seriously ?!*! rim damage, tire damage, affects performance, handling, braking ... low mileage of-courseOriginally posted by AkshayA View PostToday I happened to get air pressure checked in my bike's types after a long time and it was 12PS in the front and 13PS in the rear.

Are you sure the readings were right (maybe double check it at another petrol bunk.)?
How come you couldn't 'feel' that the tire pressures were low ?! You aren't listening to the bike my friend
-- if you did not notice this for a long time, it could be puncture too,so get that checked as well for any embedded objects.

Re: Issue Alert
You must have felt some extra vibrations or the bike skidding even at slow speeds with that kind of tyre pressure. Do keep checking the pressure every 2-3 days if using the bike for everyday commute.Originally posted by AkshayA View PostToday I happened to get air pressure checked in my bike's types after a long time and it was 12PS in the front and 13PS in the rear.

Re: Issue Alert
No, nothing of that sort...my daily commute is just 3-4 Km and I am underweight probably 15Kgs. Maybe that is why the effect was not that pronounced..Originally posted by s1d View PostSeriously ?!*! rim damage, tire damage, affects performance, handling, braking ... low mileage of-course

Yes, the engine did pull harder, but not that much.
Yes, point taken. 1 week is the maximum limit I have set now.Originally posted by wallpapers123 View PostYou must have felt some extra vibrations or the bike skidding even at slow speeds with that kind of tyre pressure. and as far as the run in is concerned, I'm a firm believer of do what ever you want with the bike as long as it is nicely warmed up. I never stuck to their recommended RPMs. I did however use mineral oil (Bajaj DTSi oil) for the run in and drained it twice, as soon as I hit 1500kms I switched to a fully synthetic. 300v worked brilliantly for me.My D200 is 3 months old and had a clatter sound from my engine. The SVC guys told me that it's because of the valve clearance and the shims that needed replacement. Although they replaced me all that under warranty , I wanna know why did I come across such a prob? Why the shims needed replacement so soon? What might have caused the problem? Is it going to need replacement again after another 2-3 months?Originally posted by Arvind95 View PostI'll take it to the SVC on Monday.. And now it sounds like a share auto.. Even strangers around me started enquiring about the sound :/ which embarrasses me a lot... My tank and the footpegs are literally vibrating which never happened before even in the top notch (130+).

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hey Guys I'm sorry for being OT. I've been thinking of getting a Duke for a while now. The only problem is that I don't know if it is suitable for a tall giraffe like me.
So hopefully there is someone here who can help me in making a decision by telling me if tall riders look good on the 200 Duke. Thanks in advance!

Re: KTM 200 Duke
The starter not working in gear issue is sorted now. It was indeed a clutch switch problem. It was taken out and cleaned and the problem was gone. 10 Rs bakhsish to the mech at the neighbourhood Bajaj svc😉

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Looks like your alternator coil is blown. I suggest that you take it to the SVC asap.Originally posted by faster View PostSo today I got stuck in really heavy traffic and it was crawling literally . What happened is that all off sudden the console display went off completely , lights were still on and everything was fine . Then the console came up again with showing high coolant temperature , low fuel value , Low battery , No bars for fuel and temperature was there , Speedo was showing random numbers and now it's zero . lol . Bike is running fine , Don't know if fan is working , i guess it's working . What could be the reason ?

Re: KTM 200 Duke
It is normal, depends on the way you ride and the quality of the fuel, a lot of bikes run pretty lean initially and that leads to the valve clearance issues, I have had to replace my shims almost every 15-20k kms so that's 4 times and the 5th time is due as soon as I get some time to sit down with the mech and get it fixedOriginally posted by Arvind95 View PostMy D200 is 3 months old and had a clatter sound from my engine.
