I don't And if you are going for the tankpad purely for aesthetic reasons, go ahead and get the KTM tankpad, it suits the bike.
If you want to save your tank from scratches, know the fact that the tank pad and the tank cover are similarly priced

The rim stickers look nice too, but there may be other options, some of which actually look better. I myself would be on the look out for someone who can paint the trellis orange(not any orange but KTM orange), some rim stickers , a nice Z ring chain.
I have plans of an akra too, but may be later this year.
One cannot stop without all the possible mods on his bike

Oh but first a clutch plate change, front rim replacement(via an insurance claim of course!!) and possibly an accelerator cable replacement(not really necessary, but the throttle is not so fluid these days)

Actually you are kept so busy by rather frequent part replacements that you do not have time(and money) to think of accessories

Are Dukes having problem with their wheels? I have seen a lot of bent rims and leaking forks every time I go to SVC.
        I am back!

Duke 390 were having them....one person on colliding with an Activa at low speeds got his front rim completely shattered. Duke 200 having this problem is news for me....maybe Bajaj is maximizing their profits by deteriorating already poor quality parts (from what I've heard). No surprises why Yamaha is selling like hotcakes...only thing they have to do is a color change...and boom sales are up again...
I am doubting my decision for Duke, even as I am on the brink of buying it (1 week max)

I switched to Metzeler M5 on my Duke a couple of weeks ago. Made the change primarily for the track. And mother of god, there's a massive difference. I hadn't used non-stock tyres on any of my bikes till date. This was my first time and now I know what's the difference between great tyres and, well, MRFs. I call bullshit on people claiming that MRFs are nearly as good as Metzelers in the dry. I haven't had a chance to try them in the wet but they are leaps and bounds better than the MRF is the dry. I would highly recommend the Metzelers to anyone who can afford them for they are completely worth the price.

Edit : I also recently discovered that Kiiru's new ECU map for the duke goes upto 13000 rpm. Anyone here got that map yet? Reviews?

I found it awkward to make u-turns when I bought the bike. Just a matter of getting comfortable. Nothing wrong with the bike.

No no. I do not intend to discourage you from the possible purchase. In fact I have always recommended this bike to people but with a caveat : parts quality may be suspect, but the motor and the handling will win you over.
I am not one of those owners who are blind to the bike's negatives and will always give 9.5/10 when asked to rate their bikes. You need to be rational while judging something

The 200 rims are a lot better than 390 going by the reports on this forum. I have seen a few isolated cases of 200 rims bending a bit when hiting potholes but nothing as eye popping as them shattering as in the case of 390. May be the 390s are of inferior quality(or may be they were a few isolated incidences).
THe bend in my rim was due a minor accident I had met many months back. The insurance rep had refused a replacement then citing "no need" since the bend was minimal. truth be told I feel no change in ride dynamics(or may be I have gotten used to it), just a 'curr' sound when front brake is apllied

Are they that good? How much did you pay for the M5? I have recently replaced the tyres 4K kms back, so there is time. THe mRFs though leave much to be desired especially wwhen road conditions are dicey. How good is the grip when it's a bit gravelly ?

I paid 15k for the set. I haven't tried it on any surface except (dusty and clean) tarmac, so can't comment on how they do on the gravel. On the tarmac, they really are that good. I abused the grip through the weekend on the track and not once did I run out of grip. After doing a few hot laps, when I came into the pits and touched the tyres, they actually felt like hard solidified glue to touch. Last time on reasonably new MRF set, I had my front and rear both sliding all over the place and scaring the daylights out of me (and I wasn't even pushing nearly as hard).

On a sidenote, the tyres saved me from a massive crash. I leaned in hard to the left... the gear shifter hit the ground and broke in half, my rear tyre was airbourne (while I was fully leaned), but as soon as the tyre came back to the ground, there was no drama, no loss of grip and it just stuck to the ground and saved my ass.

He was saying that he's in the learning phase, so may be that's why he's finding it difficult to make U-turns, combined with the power delivery and short handle travel.

Yup. I figured that... which is why I said that it's only a matter of getting comfortable on the bike. There isn't any inherent issue with the bike that causes this.

Yes...rationale is very important while judging and for that matter buying also.....and the fact is that I ditched on 200ns only for the fear of inferior build/parts quality (no offense).....but when going for this bike and hearing the same things really throws a chill down my spine.

Do you mean knocking? My bike does that too when I use engine braking . like when I slow down to 20kmph in 3rd gear .I asked around and people said this is normal . Mine has crossed the 10k mark just recently.
Which remap are you talking about?

First time I took a U Turn with this bike, engine stopped, tyres got locked and bike toppled to the side crashing my right hand side mirror.

Guys are you guys referring to 'knocking' or 'snatching'? Snatching is normal on a short stroke motor in high gear low rev scenario.
