Re: KTM 200 Duke
Guys, how does the Duke fair in rains? Unfortunately, never got a chance to ride a duke yet, but very much inclined towards getting one. Heard from a guy that the Duke is a nightmare during rains and splashes water all over your pants. Please shed some light on this ?It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hi guys, what's the expected life of duke's front disk pads. Mine has done 7300 and is 10 months old. It was making noise everytime i applied brakes, i tried cleaning the brakes and the noise also dissappeared but only to return back after few days. Thanks

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Baffled to see this. I have a 200 ABS here in Auckland that is almost one year old.

Duke 200 few noob Questions .
Hello everyone.
Recently I have bough Duke 200 which has done little less then 100kms . Enjoying it to the fullest with lots of control as its new
. I am directly asking few questions as I have already searched thoroughly the forums but still I am in a bit of dilemma.
1. Should I get oil changed @ 500 Kms ? If yes, should I go with Motul fully synthetic oil only ? Is it a good idea to bring your own oil bottle to the service center as I have seen they use some oil from a big unnamed drum . I am planning to visit Suman Bajaj Noida sector 2. Any idea about their service ?
2. I was cleaning the radiator grills with water an toothbrush and later found 5-6 bents were out of shape . Should I be worried ? ( always move the brush top to bottom ).
3. Now and then, I have a pillion rider, most of the times my excited friends, For 4-5 Kms only. Is it a good idea to ride with pillion riders initially ( although I can't do anything and I don't want to say no at all, just asking for my knowledge ).
4. As I am in the break-in phase , I try to keep rpm in between 5K-7.5K and keep varying it with occasional bursts upto 8Ks on all gears. I have to go through highways only to my office and I have read its not good to ride on highways : ( ? should I be switching gears between 4-5-6 few times on the way ?
5. I am using formula one wax polish for the paint parts and alloys. What to use for the black fiber par ?
6. Which is the best chain lube spray ? How often should I use it ?
7. Is it okay to switch off the engine immediately after a ride of 20 + kms ? ( I always warm up the engine for 2-3 minutes )
8. Can someone highlight mechanism of claw-shift gear box . I want to know (just for knowledge) if it's okay to change gears without using clutch ?
9. Any other important must-read- one-liner points...please add...
Thank you

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Yes it does make itself dirty as well as the rider and the pillion. But you will enjoy the ride to core during the rainy season as well.Originally posted by Sal View PostGuys, how does the Duke fair in rains? IMO you can change the oil during the First Service. Its better to change to Motul after 5K Kms are done.
2. I was cleaning the radiator grills with water an toothbrush and later found 5-6 bents were out of shape . Should I be worried ? ( always move the brush top to bottom ).
Don't Worry about the mud getting stored in the radiator grill, leave it to the Service Guys to clean it up. They advised me not to clean it up by our-self.
3. Now and then, I have a pillion rider, most of the times my excited friends, For 4-5 Kms only. Is it a good idea to ride with pillion riders initially ( although I can't do anything and I don't want to say no at all, just asking for my knowledge ).
Pillion Rider should not be a problem.
4. As I am in the break-in phase , I try to keep rpm in between 5K-7.5K and keep varying it with occasional bursts upto 8Ks on all gears. During Run-in only thing to avoid is Long rides or completing the Run-in with a single trip.
Try Engine Braking as much as possible during Run-in.
Gradually increase the RPM and don't Exceed 7K.
7. Is it okay to switch off the engine immediately after a ride of 20 + kms ? ( I always warm up the engine for 2-3 minutes )
Its Good to idle the engine for 2 mins before starting and shutting it OFF.
Thank you

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Thaks a lot bala.gg . Cleared the air on so many points .
Please, If any one could give reply for two points about the chai lube/spray..and how to keep the black fibre part of duke 200 clean.
Do We need to use all of these at once for chain as mentioned in the first post ?
Motul Chain Lube Road - 400 ml = Rs 510
Motul Chain Clean - 400 ml= Rs 480
OKS chain lube spray - 100 ml = Rs 140Last edited by dukist; 01-28-2014, 11:13 AM.READY TO RACE >>
