Felt there is more power unsued.Hence did some info collection and changed to 38T rear first some times back. But was not happy since the bike lost its charm and drivability. Top (m)axed our at 137 / 138. No mileage improvements since I had to accelerate hard to keep the pace. Changed it back to stock after about 500km. Wont recommend this to anyone.Recently decided to test the next change since the engine cut off at top gear sometimes drives me crazy. Never wanted to change to 42T since there is no big difference. There was a dilema between 40T and 39T. Since 39T is available in Bajaj itself (latest P180) decided to change and finally very very happy. For sure acceleration is lower, engine is softer due to longer ratio. But for me the acceleration is good enough. Ridebaility is still good in city. Bike still pulls strongly from 40kmph in top gear. The most important is that the top speed has increased now. A lot.Max speeds I had tested in each gear is as under. I am also indicating the previous figures with stock 43T in brackets1st - 48 (44)2nd - 68 (61)3rd - 89 (81)4th - 113 (102)5th - 133 (121)6th - 150 (139)Top speed in 6th was without hitting the rev limited. But not to expect any more since it powered out. Anyway rev limiter should cut at 153 as per my calculations. It kept ticking till 144 / 145 and had done this 3 times already. But after that it took more time and road to get to 150. just did it once. And many wont believe this. My mileage in city was ranging from 33 to 36kmpl with 43T. Now its ranging from 36 to 40kmpl.I have decided to ride with 39T rear as long as I own Duke.I recommend this for those who want better top speed and mileage and can sacrifice on the charm of hard acceleration.40T rear from karizma will be better since it will have better acceleration than this. but i doubt to see 150 mark.
Hi!!! I am in a dilemma whether to go for 39T or 40T. Would be glad for ur suggestion. My lookout is relaxed driving in the city, better FE and good highway speed. I am not that much of an acceleration junkie so losing a bit of acceleration is fine with me. Also, I am facing the problem that only rear sprocket of karizma of pulsar 180 is hard to come by as most service centers sell the full set. Any suggestions as to obtain the sprockets in mumbai. Is it required to carry out any modifications of the duke chain if fitted with the 39T/40T sprocket.

After boasting of not ever facing a coolant overspill on my bike I have had two occurrences in two weeks now . This started ironically after the "high coolant temperature" issue was fixed. I think the reason might be overfilling by svc. Rehman first replenished coolant since some was lost when he pulled out the temp sensor.
The other mech the n pored some more during the paid service which I got done the same day. The first day when the spill happened I thought Ok, self correction. Now that the radiator has vomited out the extra coolant it'll run fine, but no. Same spill, same place, at the ghatkopar turn to LBS marg.
I tried playing cool despite the horrifying look on fellow commuters' face. Yeah man you dont' know, high tech bike, you gotta keep cool and put up with shit..err gushing coolant
May be the radiator cap needs tightening or some other mumbo jumbo!

Oh and this happened on my way to office from svc. yes I was there in the morning. To change the fuel tank which was leaking gas.I had called the svc on Wednesday and was told to come on Friday, since at least two days notice is must for the good people to better plan and execute the replacement. The fuel tank was in stock I was told. So I wake up early today and headed to the svc. And what am I told on reaching?
"Sir fuel tank to nahi hai..us din galti se bol diya tha...fuel tank ke box me fuel filter rakhe the, bina check kiye bola tha!! "
"Oh is it? to fir kab aayega stock?"
"order kar diya hai, phone karenge"

Who would bet that they'd call when stock arrives?

Thats great info there. Thanks for sharing with us. One question, with 38T shouldn't the top speed increase?
It would be nice if You can record the RPMs as well.

I have been seeing all these queries regarding changing only the rear/front sprocket. I would like to share some information that I read at a mechanical engg site.

The best way to replace sprockets is to replace both the sprockets along with the chain. Though this is an expensive way it is always recommended by experts.

For all the queries regarding sprocket change/increase in speeds in each gear, I would highly recommend this site. just enter the bike model and see the results for all sprocket/performance combinations.

Today I got my sprockets and chain replaced and got them painted orange. Got the front sprocket also painted orange but then realized that it wont ever be visible Anyways while it was being fitted it looked hot! And it costed just 150 bucks for both so no worries

Have you removed the top cover of the air box or using it in the box as stock replacement??

Using it without the air box. Motozone gave a screw-on frame with it so using that. Need your advice, Can I use it in the box and gain full benefit of the air filter?
