Yes that is one example of random speedo recalibration.Originally posted by sanjana k View PostThanks a lot for your input i will do as u say asap and by random speedo recalibration i mean the speedo shows 0 for lyk 6-7 seconds n thn shows the actual speed for a minute or two n then again shows 0, so is this what you all call random speedo recalibration or is this sumthng else???

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Along with the battery issue i am also facing 1 more issue n that is fuel leak from near the fuel filter.......Yesterday evening i finally sourced out the point from where the fuel was exactly leaking n it was not the fuel filter which was at fault,it was the fuel line which connects the fuel filter from the upward right side which was causing the leak. The fuel line seemed to be proper with no cracks or tear but it was the hose clamp which connects the fuel line n fuel filter from where the fuel was leaking. So i wanted to know is it ok for me to ride the bike for 2 hours n go to the ktm service center with fuel falling all over the hot engine or should i try to get it fixed from some meachanic nearby?????Last edited by sanjana k; 12-15-2014, 10:35 PM.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I wouldn't ride 2hrs with fuel spilling, i think you can get a temporary fix (since the fuel filter is located outside the tank, the chance of a screw up is less)using a similar sized hose clamp and maybe along with a new fuel line from a regular spares shop/mechanic. You just need to make sure the tank cover and tank are removed properly without damageOriginally posted by sanjana k View Postfuel leak from near the fuel filter.......Yesterday evening i finally sourced out the point from where the fuel was exactly leaking n it was not the fuel filter which was at fault,it was the fuel line which connects the fuel filter..

Re: KTM 200 Duke
My bike is 2 years 4 months old now - still feels like day1 - the first gen tune and the first lot of bikes in my city happen to have my own ride.
Checking back this section after a really long time now - during which Duke 200 grew from being exclusive to being fabulous.
All these days I never faced anything upsetting to report - the service, the spares, the mileage, the raw speed- the bike itself does extremely well.Hell's Angel

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Thanks for the reply n ya 1 more question is the battery covered under warranty bcoz if i can get the battery issue solved under warranty than i will try to take my bike to the service by taping the fuel line properly. This way i can save some cash instead of going to a local battery shop n buying a total new battery set which will mostly cost me nothing less than 3kOriginally posted by s1d View PostI wouldn't ride 2hrs with fuel spilling, i think you can get a temporary fix (since the fuel filter is located outside the tank, the chance of a screw up is less)using a similar sized hose clamp and maybe along with a new fuel line from a regular spares shop/mechanic. Re: KTM 200 Duke
Ya you should get the battery issue and the fuel line issue covered through warranty. That will seriously save you some cash. Exide makes crappy batteries.. Ktm should have given a amaron instead.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Guys can you tell me what is this. I have no idea what this is. I was trying to reset the trip reading in dark instead of pressing set I pressed mode for 5 seconds and this appeared. By default the value was set to 1772.. Has this got to do something with wheelbase. Or do these need to be changed when the tyres are changed?..

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Do you have the battery warranty card or the dealers stamp on the owners manual ? It should be two years i guess.. the battery info page on my owners manual only says the usual "30000km or 2years" , so it should be valid for two years. and the stock battery warranty has to be claimed only thru ktm.Originally posted by sanjana k View PostThanks for the reply n ya 1 more question is the battery covered under warranty bcoz if i can get the battery issue solved under warranty than i will try to take my bike to the service by taping the fuel line properly. At least try to get the battery checked at the local battery wala.. they will do it for 20rs and tell you if its kaput. If so, call up the ktm and tell them before hand and only then go to them.
Holy cow! that's some 'secret' stuff you have discoveredOriginally posted by plexus View PostGuys can you tell me what is this. I have no idea what this is. - my guess is it refers to the wheel circumference which might be used during wheel balancing or for speedo calibrations if you change the rim to a different size one.
If you are stuck at that mode even after switching off/on the ignition, then just turn off the ignition and then open up the rear seat and disconnect the battery (negative terminal first, then positive). Let it be disconnected for a couple of minutes and then reconnect it (first positive then negative terminal).

Load the bike into an auto and take it. Besides if you call ktm and tell them they usually send mechanics to fix the problem at your house.

I've seen this in cycle speedometersOriginally posted by plexus View PostGuys can you tell me what is this. I have no idea what this is. I guess it is to calibrate the speedometer according to the tyre/rim circumference but let experts comment on this.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
thanks christo , you were right , that option is to calibrate speedometer according to the tyre/rim circumference. a technician at SVC told me about this.
, as DUKE is modified very often by the riders around the world . this option makes sure that speedometer is accurate.
