Re: KTM 200 Duke
To be honest, i do not know.
When i bought this bike,It already had 46T sprocket and BMC filter so i am not sure what kind of difference BMC filter makes compared to the stock filter.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Would Motul 5100 hold good in D200? As far as I know, SVC dumps 7100 synthetic oil during servicing. Its not about the price but my P150 used to super nice with 5100, so a random thought popped up in my mind about "why not use 5100?". It is in the same grade as 7100, i.e. Xw50.
I would be going in for frequent oil change (2500-3000 kms) but I can live with that if the gear shifts and engine becomes smooth and with less tantrum to throw.Regards,

It should be fine. Remember motul 7100 is being dumped due to customer demand. Initially it was only the bajaj dtsi oil.Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostWould Motul 5100 hold good in D200? So go ahead as long as the grade is right.. i.e a 10/20w50.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
A irritating issue that i have been facing for the past 3 weeks on my 45 day old d200.
There is this 'krrrrr krrrr' noise that pops up at around 4200-4300 rpm and goes away beyond or below that. It was like a plastic piece vibrating (resonance i guess)
Being a new bike (that also had an issue earlier.. not getting the time to sit and write about it, i will soon
) , i did not want to fiddle much, so i took it to the svc..
First time, they acknowledged it and then i said lets check out at first service which was due that week..
during the first service, the mech observed that the mudflap of front fender was loose so tightened it. the belly pan was also removed cleaned and fixed back. I rode it and did not notice the vibe
The next day, again i notice it.. rode it for a few days anyway and again went to svc.. this time he tightened the bolts holding the fender (i had asked him to loosen it and tighten it back but he said its ok).. also the fuel tank cap was tightened.
I was sure the sound was coming from the right side lower section of the bike..
Again after two days that annoying vibe was back.. along with a blown parking bulb
so there i go again to the svc (its just a km away for me)
I went in the evening, so they said sir pls come back in the morning we'll sit together and fix it up. This time they said it's belly pan or headlight and wanted to remove and fix it back up with maybe double side tape.. eeek!! i was like 'ohh man not the pulsar fix' !!... I told them its either the fender or the radiator plastic shroud (because i could feel the noise from around there)
So i came back home, and decided to do something:
1. I will get a led bulb for parking light (so ordered a set on ebay right away for 150rs.)
2. The next two days, i kept observing the noise and started by putting a tape on different portions of the mudguard to see if it dampens the sound - no go
3. next, i pressed my leg against the belly pan to see if it disappears (no go)
4. I put a bit of tape on either side of the radiator plastic/guards (no go)
5. finally while riding, i reached down thru the gap between the handle and tank and pulled up the top part of the plastic radiator shroud on either side.. and bingo!! the issue was on the right side.. on pulling it up just a little with my finger the vibes disappeared. (i did this early morning on empty roads because putting your hand thru that gap is not an advisable thing to do while the bike is in motion..)
So am just waiting for the parking bulb to arrive, and i will head to svc then to show them this and get it fixed up. I could try and remove that myself but i prefer to watch em do it and while at it get my chain cleaned and lubed for free

Thanks bro. I too am thinking about dumping 7100 since it doesn't feel oh so awesome. I don't revv the heart out the engine so 5100 should do the trick. And what a super timing of the buzzing sound. I am facing strange kind of buzzing when I reach 4-5K RPM, especially in 1-2-3 gears. However, I feel mine is coming from the left rear, somewhere down the rear seat. It is a stupid and irritating sound and makes me feel like raining glue all over the bike to make it shut up. Can you share the part which you pulled up to get that buzz resolved? With too much plastic around, it is a buzzer on steroids. I miss my Metal made Pulsar with almost zero vibes and buzzes.Originally posted by s1d View PostIt should be fine. Re: KTM 200 Duke
If you feel its from the rear, then remove the seat and anything else under it like the tool kit, first aid kit, documents etc.. ride without the seat and then add back those items one by one.I have had the tool kit come loose because one of the rubber bands popped out and it was creating a clunky noise whenever i went over a bump. I found that crisscrossing the rubber bands on those 4 mount points fixes this issue. It hasn't fallen off since ive done that.Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostThanks bro. btw..the buzz is not resolved..i have only found the source.. i will head to the svc to get the shroud removed and fixed or adjusted.. i want them to know about this.
i agree the ktm is a pesky little kid but again, i am not worried as long as its under warranty.. most issues i believe will raise their head within this two year period. Its fun to ride and i do not mind living with it.
Here is pic of the location (marked in red) from where the noise seems to originate.. this is the top portion of the radiator shroud which is plastic.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
you can just remove that radiator guard. Doesn't do anything other than being one of the ugliest part of the bike. If you have the extended front mud guard, then don't worry about rocks or water splashed into the radiator.Originally posted by s1d View Post(marked in red) from where the noise seems to originate.. this is the top portion of the radiator shroud which is plastic.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
i did not find anything ugly about it, and i do not mind its presence. also mine is the newer model d200 with the radiator fan shroud, so i do not know if both these parts are connected or if one can be removed without affecting the other. will have to check it out.Originally posted by wallpapers123 View Postyou can just remove that radiator guard. Re: KTM 200 Duke
That front radiator guard AFAIK was an independent part of the radiator assembly on the older models and could be removed at home by just removing the two front bolts.Originally posted by s1d View Posti did not find anything ugly about it, and i do not mind its presence. also mine is the newer model d200 with the radiator fan shroud, so i do not know if both these parts are connected or if one can be removed without affecting the other. will have to check it out.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Looks so to me too.. but if a part (however small or insignificant) is there on a bike and its creating a problem, am going to sit on their heads till its fixedOriginally posted by wallpapers123 View PostThat front radiator guard AFAIK was an independent part of the radiator assembly on the older models and could be removed at home by just removing the two front bolts.
(especially under warranty) i enjoy doing that and like to watch and learn..throwing away stuff is easier than sitting down and getting it fixed, and i prefer the later approach if i have the time to spend but not money.
I'll let you know how it goes.. i hope its no more than a 10 min job to sort this out.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
When you remove that plastic cover over the front sprocket area, I think one or two screws actually go in to the crank case. It might be normal for oil to come out of this nut hole or require a gasket replacement. I haven't dug that deep in to bike as yet to be able to provide you with more information.Originally posted by Sumeet09 View PostYesterday I was cleaning chain and found that oil was seeping through the nut holes .what would be the reason behind this .pls help ( pic is attached)

Re: KTM 200 Duke
How much has your bike done in KMS. If over 10K then you will need to get throttle body cleaned. Also get fuel pump pressure checked. Its should ideally be between 2.5 - 2.9 bar.Originally posted by Sumeet09 View PostI am new to this thread and experiencing hiccups at around 3.5-4k rpm . I guess their must b issue with fuel injector due to clogging please suggest any fuel additive if available for cleaning injector or I must get it cleaned from KTM service?
Sent from my XT1033 using xBhp Connect mobile app
I had the same issue. Got the throttle body cleaned, nearly a 1.5 hour job, but bike is way better now in terms of ride ability.
As for fuel injector cleaning / maintenance, you can use BARDAHL INJECTOR CLEAN additive.30+ YEARS OF RIDING

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Throttle body cleaning is a 30 min job, i saw them do it while i was at the first service for my d200. While my bike was waiting to be washed, the mech started working on another bike that had its 3rd service i think. I watched him remove it, clean it and put it back in less than 30 minutes. It's much simpler than dismantling a carb and cleaning ! They used petrol to clean it, but normally something like a throttle body or carb cleaner spray would have been better and faster.Originally posted by Janesh.J View PostHow much has your bike done in KMS.
