I have no issues with the seat on city rides.. I recently did a longish ride of approx 600km over a weekend with breaks every hour or so. My butt did not hurt, but yes the seat is a bit on the firmer side, previous gen dukes i think had a smooth finish on the seat covers, while mine which was bought two months ago has dotted with kinda grippy texture. In my case i felt that an inch of foam should do the trick, and when i asked at the asc if they had some contacts with local seat wala's they directed me to a guy who sits under a tree next to the place where I usually buy spares from. I will head to him sometime and get some foam added. I also asked about the cost of a new front seat and was quoted Rs.1400.
As for the gel seat mod, its up to you to order the gel pad and show the mod to a seat wala and get it done.

I am the person who I guess got the highest mileage with RC390. I got 57 I got the pick when it was showing 56 by the way I got this average while coming downhill from mussoorie.
              But overall I get 22.
Here's the pick to shock. (There is no error on the speedo)Click image for larger version

Hi guys, update after 32683 kms and 3 epic rides (3000 km+).

My bike suffered a fall about 3 months back and the handling was never the same again. I'm riding out to Puducherry via Bangalore (from Mumbai), so took it to the ASC, where they urged me to get the cone set (steering head) replaced. And my God, does it make a diff.!!
My T was affected but changing the cone set has made it almost like new again!!!

Regarding other issues, the ignition coil failed(again) after the monsoon, so got that replaced u/warranty, same for the oil seals.
Mileage is 30 in the city and 42+ on long rides.

Hi there... wow.... just wondering at wat speeds u guys cruise at... im a tourer myself ...i usually cruise around 110-115 and the occasional blast to 128 ... lately been wondering if its too high a speed for the engine... (just got engine cylinder head replaced under warranty *tick tick sound* ...odo at 10k...would cost a bomb if its from my own pocket and hence concerned about the mechanical longevity of the engine)..please share ur thoughts on this

Well on the first two rides, I was accompanied by a FZ, Bullet 350, and an old bullet, so we would cruise at 80 max.
The last ride it was just me and my friend with his B350, so on the NH4 we were flying at 100-120. The bike feels amazingly planted and at home on those speeds!! Maxed out @ 130+ many times. Don't think it bothers the bike.

About the longevity, well I've done 3 long rides, ready for another one. Also Leh is happening in Sept.
Not faced any issue with the engine so far. Very impressed with the "baby" Duke

I think it differs with respect to riding style. I think 5-7.5k is the optimum rpm range for changing gear.
Correct me if i am wrong.

Been reading a lot of posts regarding mileage. Its always safe to assume your actual mileage would be 2-3 kmpl (at least) less than the indicated one.
In any case, anyone getting 30+ in city riding conditions, is a lucky fellow.

                                I used a d200 for 1.5years before upgrading to a 390.
I feel with sane riding you can easily get 30plus in city riding. I never got below 30kmpl..and i am not talking about meter indications. I checked with odo everytime.

By the way are you from Pune? P220?
