Re: KTM 200 Duke
You can get the chief engg's contact number from the service center itself. They usually have a display board which has all the contact numbers of managers/chief engineer etc. Just buzz the service center and tell them to provide the chief engg's number. They are different for different regions.Originally posted by sanjana k View PostThe way you ride is the way you are..

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Went to the svc before office. Confirmed. Fuel tank leakage. The petrol becomes a bit oily/smudgy after it mixes with the rust from the bolt/bolts from where it's seeping out. From the way the mech explained the diagnosis it appears that it's pretty recurrent. The tank would have to be replaced he said.
I had my eyes set on the RC series but I really have misgivings about the idea, of visiting the svc every other day. I just hope Bajaj improves on teh quality front.
I can't remember a substantial stretch of time in my ownership where the bike was completely niggle free. Though there weren't any major issues(the high temp issue threatened to be one, but as it turns out, thankfully, that it was a non issue), but small things keep on cropping up every now and then.
The tank should be changed under warrantyThe hero always RIDES into the sunset!

What's it made of anyways that its leaking!!
Any idea of the reason behind how it got cracks/ started leaking??
I think we just have to live with the fact that KTM being a relatively new company will have such issues small or big now and then with the bikes on Indian condition..
and what about the fuel that leaked from the tank??
will they replace that too..??:P

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Well, the leak is not substantial yet, a small of amount of sludge since yesterday. Plastic tanks offer weight savings surely but it cannot be as robust as a metal tank.Originally posted by wallpapers123 View PostFuel tank leakage??!!!

Let's see what happens on Monday. The svc manager told me he'll check it on Monday to ascertain if it was an accident case or not, which frankly was a bit insulting.
I mean how can I have had an accident with everything intact with only the tank cracking.
Only a ploy to come up with an excuse to deny warranty. PatheticThe hero always RIDES into the sunset!

Re: KTM 200 Duke
If u are upgrading from unicorn, cbr will feel more at home to you than duke.Originally posted by SAMPATH_K View PostGentlemen - I am considering an upgrade from the sedate Honda Unicorn to either the Duke 200 or the CBR 250.I am more inclined towards the duke due to its more upright seating/riding position(I am 37 now..
) than the CBR and the lightness of the bike.I would to know how refined the Duke is considering that i have been riding the ultra refined Unicorn till date.Similarly can i use regular petrol on Duke or is it a strict no no?
Does using smaller sprockets(39,40T etc..) at the rear to make the bike more smoother on highways?I believe current KTM's come with 42T.How much do they cost?
Thanks
Sam
Regarding seating position cbr's seating position is not that extreme. You can easily munch miles and miles on it without any back discomfort.
Any unleaded fuel can be used in the duke. No problems there. Don't expect duke to have ultra refined gear shifts like the unicorn but it's not bad, I mean u will notice the refinement level going down but it wouldn't bother u ever or be a deal breaker looking what it can do.
Yes, sprocket replacement will make it sedate and better on highways but then I would say u have killed the soul of the orange maniac.
Believe me u will b riding it like u stole it. Even if you are not in the mood it will urge to twist the throttle n gun it!

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Ab13-Thanks for your valuable input eventhough its a tad too late :-).I ended up buying the duke 2 months back and am loving it every moment."Riding it like u stole it" is the apt way to describe how its being ridden.I hve just completed 1500kms and expect the engine to get smoother even more. However the hard seat is a point of serious concern and i am looking to shave the top of it and add some foam cushioning.

Jitz-Congrats on the new Duke.I am from Coimbatore as well. You may try filling regular petrol itself.I have been using the same since the purchase 2 months ago and have not faced any issues so far.Just make sure u refuel at any of the big outlets in the city and avoid dingy or old petrol stations.I usually refill at Raghavendra across Nilgiris, the one next to Fun all or at Shanti trichy road.As i said any of the big stations would be a safe bet.Try to top up your duke everytime as the chances of filling fuel else where comes down to some extent. All the bestOriginally posted by jitzm View PostHi,
I am going to be a proud owner of Duke 200. I would be getting the bike in 3days.
I am dwelling in Coimbatore. I would like to know where I can get a good fuel for my bike in Coimbatore. The showroom people said that they recommend only premium brand of petrol. Its very hard to get that here. Can I fill normal petrol ? If so what all issues I can expect?
Any Duke owners from Coimbatore could help me in getting the best fuel options in Coimbatore.

The trick is to pull the headlamp assembly up and then from outside slide the screwdriver and tighten it from below..

Re: KTM 200 Duke
The constant krr krr sound from the chain was irritating. Even tightening it wont help. The culprit is the slider. The bolt which goes thru the slider has a metal casing which gets exposed once the slider gets worn out coming in contact with the chain making the noise. The fix... screwed on a piece of 6-7 inches of rubber tube / pipe and viola, chain noise gone.

Is the screw on the inside of the rubber slider missing??Originally posted by Janesh.J View PostThe constant krr krr sound from the chain was irritating. Even tightening it wont help.
