No, I wouldn't take for granted that the chain is worn to the limit where it needs to be replaced. But its probably worn to the limit where it needs readjustment. Just as it needs every now and then, especially when its new.

You should easily get 20 000 km out of a chain.

That is something you can do yourself. I think all tools required is in the tool set that came with the bike. Takes no more than 15 minutes.

I got it from a friend who had got it made from a fabricator.

I got one more spare paddock. Please PM me in case somebody needs it for their Duke.

Cost of fabricating paddock - 1500 bucks

how do you get the bike to sit on that stand? you gotta lift it? is the stand strong enough to get the chain cleaned with engine running?

Its pretty easy to get the bike on the stand. Slide the paddock below the swingarm, and push the handle down with one leg while holding the bikes grab rail, and it sits easy.

If you dont have confidence initially you can ask someone to hold the bike while you set the bike on the paddock.

The stand is pretty strong and you can lube the chain while the engine is running without any issues.

I got it to maintain my chain-sprocket in good shape and perform some basic DIYs.

My bike is giving some kind of a whirring sound on braking. Any known causes?
Also my third service is due. Any things to specifically take care of. It has clocked 7k kms.
The tail upon close observation appears to be twisted slightly when comparing with the centre of the bike. I showed it at the svc buy they said nothing can be done. Can I get it changed under the warranty? I don't know what might have caused it. It was not like this at the time of buying.

Guys, My duke just died few days back, would not start. No power to console, brake lights, indicator lights. The supply from ignition switch is fine after that no power distribution. Fuses are all OK. Connectors in headlight housing all ok.. Battery voltage is 12.xx. Have not checked kill switch. I have noticed that even with kill switch off brake lights and indicators should work which is not the case now.

                        Diagnosis and fix.

The wire(s) had broken off at this place (see pic). Keep a check as this tends to bend with steering movement. Do keep checking for wear if possible because from outside we cannot know if wires get worn out.

Very Good share of Knowledge..Thank you very much...

You can also try binding these wires loosely to give flexibility, since tightly bound wires become stiff to bend and undergo lots of strain when they are flexed

Yep, all the tools are in the tool kit: two spanners and the big nut loosener.
                            Takes about 10 mins.
And Tobbera mate, the chain on the Duke 200 won't last more than 10-12000 kms. unless you baby the bike continuously.

Reminds me a bit of the old Pulsar wiring.
The wiring on the D200 is generally quite good, although quite a few bits are Bajaj made...

I have read that somewhere around this forum as well, but it just seems totally weird. Is the chain of poor quality or whats the deal? With the moderate power of the 200, the chain is not under any load. The chain of my Honda CB900 has done 25 000 Km and is still going strong. And that bike has 100 hp.

                                I wonder too..!

There have been so many cases where the chain wears out way before reaching 10k mark..!

Folks have any idea how better are the rolon ones??

Mine is currently 6.4k kms and I guess I may need a replacement sooner than I expect (10k!!)
