        Any idea on that?

I have completed 200 KMs hence, thinking about changing the oil before going for 1st service at 1000KM
        Hi Chinmay,

Stick to the Mineral-Bajaj oil till you first service, because it will help breaking-in your bike's engine. Yeah, it is better to change the oil at regulat intervals of 500km (initially till 1.5 km), but dont go for any Semi/fully synthetic in this mean while. After 1.5 km of ride I suggest you to use Fully synthetic-Motul. Check the oil level regularly and take care of your baby well.

I just noticed that my bike's engine is giving off a whirring sound. Which is only heard at low speeds . is it something to worry about? The bike has clocked 2.5k kms and is running on Bajaj oil. Is it time I change the oil. Also, which Motul oil should I go for?

        Hi Xzibit,

This sound is normal, you can even notice this in idle condition of your bike. Just rev your bike to hear this beautiful sound .
Yeah Bro, it is time to change to Fully synthetic-Motul. I prefer to change at 1.5 km itself.

An update, changed the Oil and Oil Filter today after 240 KMs on the odo. Removed Bajaj Oil, and poured in Motul 5100 15w50, my favorite. Engine sound on heating has reduced after using Motul. I had expected this.

Bajaj Oil is good, however, engine loses refinement after it gets hot. With Motul 5100 everything stays intact.

Dont know if you've read any Duke 200 reviews, but every single reviewer has said that the Duke has grippy tires. And most of us Dukers here are also satisfied with the grip of our bikes. So go ahead purchase that tyre and install it.

                    cheers!

I read the reviews, but got confused when the showroom guy told me otherwise..

How good is the headlight reflector of duke?

But seriously, they are really good tires. I'm very happy with them. Less grip in rain than in dry weather but still quite good even in rain.
I had FZ before. Duke's tires are much better, and will slide much less in muddy terrain than FZ because tires are very rounded compared to quite flat tires in FZ.
                            Go for it without hesitation.

I read on other forum where one Ninja 250 owner changed his stock rear tire (which itself is very good) to Duke's MRF and he felt it had better grip.

There's an interesting bit from recent Overdrive's first impression article about new Duke 390 where KTM's R&D manager Sebastian Sekira mentions and compares very good but VERY expensive Metzeler tires found on Duke 390 and MRFs found on Duke 200:

“The second difference are the new Metzeler Sportec M5 tyres which will come to India as well.” Why? Is something wrong with the MRFs? “No, the MRFs are actually excellent. But when we decided to make the 390 Duke we realised it would be a premium product and that it would hit as much 160-170kmph flat out. So we specified these new Sportec M5 tyres for the bike. They are better overall than the MRFs by a small margin, but have significantly better wet weather performance.”
                            thanks a lott..
would go for the duke's tyre for sure..
mine stock got punchered beyond repair..
well, your explaination was quite a handful..
                            thanks..

All I can tell you is I was once caught in a surprise rainfall and upon reaching home couldn't believe how messy the bike was. The portion below the seat, from the headlights to the taillights, was full brown. Covered in a thick layer of mud.Was a hell of a job cleaning the bike and I'm sure my cleaning guy is gonna run away if he sees the bike in this condition throughout the monsoon.
