The MDF calculates the fuel consumption depending on the speed, gear and throttle input, if u were going downhill in neutral it obviously would have calculated the fuel consumption in neutral... At least that is as far as my understanding goes...

        Duhh!...definitely...
Downhill in neutral and engine idling the vehicle covers more kms and fuel consumed at idle is very low...thus average that MFD displays is high.
it was fun seeing 94km/l ...
In city im getting 40-45kmpl...highways 50-52kmpl.

And a problem id like to ask.
During rain little water enters the petrol tank through the lid. I saw that when i opened the tank lid to refill at petrol pump. Water was there.
It shouldnt get in there....anyone else witnessed it!

Nope, duke is not available on CSD purchase. I had the same question a couple of months back when I booked my bike, so confirmed with the showroom guy.

I have posted this earlier, if u can refer to the thread, but am posting again. I also have faced this problem, but there is not major issue like water mixing with petrol as such. This happens bcoz the screws on top of the fuel cap on the outer ring, few of them are dummy screws, so water can seep through. Also water may collect in the black area and then trickle off through the overflow hose. Check this pic.

Ohh...exactly the water drops acuumulate there and definitely might get in there and mix up with petrol...yess i read before in this thread before about dummy screws. I cant say if they ate they main culprit. But this is certainly not good.
Also the spacing between the lid and cap is quite more enough to let pass the water through it.

When the cap is closed, there is no way for the water to get from that black area into the tank itself. The "ring" that the cap is attached to is decorative; it's not meant to keep water/dirt out. That inner lip you see, where the fuel filler actually goes, has a corresponding rubber seal on the cap. That's the actual "cap"; the part that seals to the filler neck.

Is that rubber seal suppose to keep water out. If so its not doing good. Any aftermarket mod or ideas that would mitigate the problem bro??!....
Coz water entering tank is not good.
The black lower part after opening the lid contains about at least few 4-5ml of water evertym after riding in rain.

The rubber seal doesn't keep water out of that black part. It keeps water out of the filler neck, which is the raised lip in the center of the black area. Look on the underside of the filler cap, and you'll see what I mean.

                    • Second Service (5000 Kms)

Hello Dukers, Got my bike back from the service center after second service, which cost me about 1016rs. The detailed bill as follows,

                      Bajaj DTS-I 10000 ( Engine Oil) - 431.72
                      Chain OKS (lube) - 75
                      Oil Filter - 65.20
                      Filter Element - 239.21
                      Fine Fuel Filter - 85.02

Plus 13.5% VAT and Service tax of 12.36
                      Total - 1016

I wanted to upgrade the engine oil to Motul because the oil provided by the service people kinda sucks. They are using the same one for pulsar 220.

Well since I'm riding her for the past 4 months, i have no issues so far, she didn't even missed a note. I got used to the hard seat and stuff. I ride her to work every day which is around 50 Km's round trip, and some weekend ride too.
Lots of nice and funny stuff happened since i started riding her like the cops stopped me and wanted to know about my bike and took pictures, I saw a girl kid screaming like " mom look its a duke ". Some nice chap said its a modified FZ and so on.

Well Im from Trivandrum, Kerala and the rainy season came late this year, so i put the rear hugger back on. keeping her clean is a big time job though. Cheers Guys, Ride Safe.

                      • Gas cap confusion

Here's a pic that lays things out more clearly. Note that the outer edge of the gas cap cover has no seal. It's just decorative. Water and dirt can slip between the ring and the cap, just like it can get between the ring and the tank body, and get into the "black" area, but since the filler neck lip is higher than the "black area" nothing can actually get into the tank. The black rubber ring on the underside of the gas cap seals against the filler neck to prevent that. The outer ring, the big cap cover, the hinge, all that is just cosmetic. It keeps the cap on the bike, but does nothing to keep the actual tank closed.

I'm curious. Exactly what part of the "free service" is actually free? They charged you for the service; they charged you for the (dealer-supplied) oil, they charged you for the maintenance items like chain lube and the various filters.

                          • Hi Guys,

I had question on duke's tyre,my cousin has duke and the tyre is gone bad because of punchers and svc has suggested to replace tyres.
Should he stick to the stock ones or go for the others tyres.
Please suggest a good tyre for duke and we stay in bangalore.

                            Thanks.....

                            • Hey guys I never got the inline fuel filter changed on my second service!!! Is it a big deal? Coz the guy at Lower Parel KTM Sai Service said they didn't have them in stock. How many people haven't got it changed in their second service here?
Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

The Oil is Dealer Stocked and not Dealer Supplied and will be charged. So also the other consumables.

While it does not surprise me to see consumables being charged, I'm most definitely surprised to see charge on free service.

@The$tig: Can you check with them on the Rs. 65 that they charged you for free service?
