I hate these rains,
My Bike doesnt bother to start . :O

After 5-6 Pushing of the electric start button the bike comes to life.
Its very annoying.
I dnt cover my bike in the rains , is it because of that?.

Check battery, my horn seems to have a life of it own, need to check my battery and other connection.

My office doesn't have covered parking, so it gets drenched rather often. I've never had a starting problem. The only problem i had was the engine warning light (the red icon on the left side of neutral light) wasn't going off. I decided to go straight to service center immediately but after riding 2 km towards service center, it went off by itself. So i concluded it was only a glitch due to rains and didn't visit the service center at all.

Bike Start Issue..I dnt know weather its my switch board or battery problem or what exam..More to it my bike has started to move slowly ..like I Dnt know how and why :O I just changed my clutch plates.! :\ :O
Ill Get All My Cables Replaced.
and Another thing do GHATKOPER SVC Guys Charge Battries ..(Not Like I am Going Only For That ,My Main Concern Bike..moving slowly :O )
Anybody Has Praveens Number ,The Guy From KTM SERVICE CENTER ..GHATKOPER?

Please Help Guys!

Noticed the placement of the battery? Its placed near an area where water seeps through the seat and gets collected sometimes :/ . I hate the rains too, the Duke is a complete pig when it gets dirty with much, splashed everywhere.

RYNOX saddle and tank bags?

Guys, does anyone have RYNOX Nomad v2 saddle bags and Optimus-S tank bag on their Duke? Or at least have seen them on a Duke?
Do the bags fit well on Duke? Are the saddle bags appropriate for a ride with pillion?

I have old Cramster saddle bags and tank bag, and while they are OK, the saddle bags are not easy to fit and are too long for comfortable ride with a pillion (front bottom part touching the pillion foot rests), and tank bag needs to be strapped with bungee cords.

RYNOX is little expensive comparing to other bags, 4550 Rs for Nomad v2 saddle bags and 2999 Rs for non-magnetic Optimus-S tank bag, but they offer large storage and supposedly are of very good quality.

It's just that I don't know if they fit Duke well...

Tyre losing pressure

Guys, Had to go on a official trip yesterday for around 200kms and it was pouring wet all through. After I reached the destination, I didn't notice anything wrong with the air pressure of the tyre. While taking the bike out for the return journey, I noticed the front had lost almost all pressure, and the rears were pretty low was well. Filled up air at the nearest station, hoping that it would sustain and it did. Came back home and still everything was fine. Took out the bike today morning and the pressure is gone again. Is it a slow puncture or something? and should I get it checked at local shop or go to SVC?? SVC is kinda far and I'm not inclined to ride that far. Thanks!

Hey guys facing quite a lot of new problems in rains.......i can see slight amount of smoke cuming out from the left side of my engine and this smoke is seen while starting engine n even while riding it and i get smell like sumthngs burning from that area.......all this happens even when the temperature graph shows jus 2-3 bars. I told the service guys about this but they wer like this is normal as duke 200 heats up quite a lot and my chain also rubs n bangs a lot on the upper rubber chain slider n i told the service guy to change the chain-slider as it may have worn out but even for this he was like this is normal as chain of all dukes face the same problem. Plzzz help me guys as the solution for all my problems according to the service guys is NO PROBLEM

I've faced the same issue. I think the smoke is more of a steam which forms when water reaches the got engine and exhaust parts(that black one in front of rear monoshock). Can't say anything about the chain slapping, just make sure you have the correct tension in the chain. A loose chain might be the cause.
Also the duke creates a hell lot of mess and get itself plus the rider dirty

so I avoid using it much these days.

Relax! Its just the rain water that is steamed up when it comes in contact with the exhaust manifold. The bike runs hot too :P . Your chain is loose, please tighten it.

My bike is seeing the 2nd monsoon and believe me it gets super dirty. For preventing water getting into the seat compartment you can get a full cover done or i made a cover from an old raincoat which does its job. Check this pic.

Anantrocks, it won't be legal for you to ride any motorcycle when you are 16. So do keep that in mind and i would also advise against it.
Coming to your question, Duke is a crazy hooliganish bike and in my opinion, good for somebody experienced who understands the machine, its limitations and the external factors on the road. At your age, it would be good to start with something with much lower cc and first learn how the crazy traffic and road sense in India works. Read up on the various topics like Art of Riding and other safety specific threads on xbhp and other forums. Develop the good habits like wearing a proper helmet and riding gear.
