Re: KTM 200 Duke
You know what, I am thinking about how good the Metzlers on the 390 are and if I should get a pair and replace the MRFs. They are no way bad, but the Metz supposedly have better wet condition grip. In my case, the brakes locked but as it was raining, it still skid and sort of high sided into that car, I say sort of cause the bike's handle bar caught my rib cageOriginally posted by Xzibit Roll View Post

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I i normally wash it out with normal water and then clean it with a sponge dipped in soap oil...and once again wash it off..Originally posted by wallpapers123 View PostHey guys need a little help....How do u clean your dukes..??
Its impossible to clean it in rainy season...
cant take it to the SVC for the wash every time obviously.....Do u use any special spray or something..??
Once it gets dried, clean the chain with kerosene and apply any gear oil as lubricant..

Re: KTM 200 Duke
it would be better to go for an abs upgrade for the duke. Since it is an upgradable part even 390's abs can be fitted to our bikes (as told by the showroom manager) . SO save that money and go for the abs kit if at all it is made available for our bikes.Originally posted by SatyamDubey View PostYou know what, I am thinking about how good the Metzlers on the 390 are and if I should get a pair and replace the MRFs. But yeah, 1290 SuperDuke looks just stunning. I wonder what power to weight ratio it will have, probably like no other bike ever before...

It would be good if they release Duke 200 with ABS in India as well, best as an option like with CBR.Originally posted by Xzibit Roll View Postit would be better to go for an abs upgrade for the duke. But still, ABS won't replace much better grip in wet that Metzelers have. If Metz are not much more expensive than MRFs in KTM service they could be a really good option to go for when MRFs get worn out!
That being said - MRFs and Metzelers have almost equal grip in dry, according to KTM's head engineer.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I absolutely agree  with going for metz when revz are worn out, if they are not that expensive. But as I have seen our dukes have all the mounting points for the abs and getting it installed if available as an upgradable kit does not sound bad either. Bajaj has not given any info about the duke 200 abs being launched so can't say anything about that. Also I would say that of all bikes I've ridden duke seems to skid the least even if you deliberately make itOriginally posted by splus View PostI definitely prefer the non-patriot edition!

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Same for me, it's the safest bike I've owned. There were several situations where I'm sure I would have taken a fall, but Duke stayed up. Duke has an amazing balance, it'll even correct your mistakes. And Duke's MRFs are really good, people from other bikes are only now finding out that Duke's MRFs are a really good alternative for their (mostly worse) tires.Originally posted by Xzibit Roll View PostI absolutely agree  with going for metz when revz are worn out, if they are not that expensive. Sure, ABS upgrade would be a really good thing if KTM does it! I just hope they make it available for an affordable price, not something crazy. CBR250's difference in price with and without ABS is too much.
There's also the question about electricals - switching the ABS on and off, like in D390. I'm not sure Duke 200's console supports the hidden button to switch ABS off. But even if there's no option to switch it off it would be pretty good because Duke's ABS activates only in extreme situations when it's REALLY needed, unlike CBR's ABS which gets activated much more often. I don't like that soft and slow braking ABS gives (unless you're about to skid), I like the strong brakes Duke has.Last edited by splus; 07-02-2013, 04:33 PM.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
A genuine question from a to-be duker (390).
I had seen some duke 200s with windscreens in Bangalore. I am desperately looking out for one but yet haven't found anything in India .The power-parts are not available much even in KTM store except some. I have searched a lot even in US websites but without much headway.
So would like to know if anyone has any solid info on these.
Thanks in Advance

Then good news for you Bro. During the Launch(Webcast), they spoke abt the Powerparts for D390, in which windscreen is an option in India as well.Originally posted by nelson_sanjoy View PostA genuine question from a to-be duker (390).

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I had a similar crash last august...the estimate they gave said 32K! :O but at the end costed 6K. Got 4K from the insurance company.
The display popping out happend to me last saturday... somebody put my bike down when it was parked and i was not around! The black part which holds the display and bolted at two places costs about 300 bucks ( without incl taxes).
Grip must cost around 100 bucks ( rough prices, memory aint helping, but must be close). Crash gaurd around 170. rear grab rails around the same. RVM, the whole assembly around 350 (?). Fibre bits near the headlight cost around 250.
All prices are approx. and without taxes.

had my first crash and it's looking bad. The left side foot assembly is bent, the crash guards are scratched, right rear indicator gone, odometer assembly broken (the Meter has popped out) the accelerator side grip has gone, the grab rails are scratched, rear view mirror assembly is bent at an amazingly angle which makes it more useful
the plastic parts near the headlight have also popped open and some alignment problems have also come up. This is what I can see and tell so far, the svc Ppl will have a better idea. So is the damage serious? Does anybody have any idea about how much the repairs are going to cost.

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Sorry to hear that mate. I have had my fair share of falls. One of them ended up burning a hole of 11k(rest 20 K was borne by the insurance company). So, yeah I know it hurts.Originally posted by Xzibit Roll View Post

In fact on taking a fall, one of the first things which I do is inspect the bike for scratches and dents and other damages. After that I check myself for injuries
Be careful next time and always remember that you can meet an accident any given damn day, either becuase your own fault or someone else's. Have learnt it the hard way
I thought he asked about the bike in general ? If he did then he should get hold of a decent car wash shampoo, some MF clothes and if possible a decent wax(though I have a wax but have only used it sparingly till now).Originally posted by Calculus View PostI i normally wash it out with normal water and then clean it with a sponge dipped in soap oil...and once again wash it off..

If he did about chain, then buy the Motul chain cleaner(or you can use WD-40 too for cleaning the chain, but Motul is preferable) for cleaning the chain and a good lube(OKS/Motul chain lube).

Not sure about ABS(though I think it'll be money well spent, but I'll surely go for the Metz once I have the cash. My tyres are up for change and I had seriously thought of buying one online few weeks back. The rear Metz was around 11K then. May be prices will be lesser if you get it from the svc, now that the 390 is here.
Does the 1st lot of duke 200 have support for ABS. I think it must have ?
