Brother...even i break my head for the same reason in my CBR150R. No one seem to have any solution. There can be following reasons. Faulty coneset, wheel misallignment, fork bent. Ever thought that front suspension could be a culprit ???. Have you ever noticed changes when carrying heavy pillion ?. See is it improves. If yes then it could be the front suspension which is fault. In my case coneset was replaced in front of my eyes, no fork bent , wheel alignment is perfect but still i can feel a kind of stiffness, unevenly mounted handlebar. ASC have no clue on my issue..finaly we have concluded that once let us the change the front suspension springs and see. But no spares in stock.Originally posted by telescope View PostI somehow cannot take my mind off this one issue with my 3 week old Duke. The right side of the handle bar seems to be slightly lower than the left while riding on a straight road. The posture seems much better/straighter when taking those slight left turns. I noticed this immediately on the first ride home from the showroom, and I've gone to the service station twice already. Karthik (from khivraj blr) somehow thought there was no issue at all and both the times I had to return telling myself its just me.
I probably will get a wheel alignment/balancing check done at the first service.
Is there anything else I should be looking for in order to figure this out? I'm afraid this could result in uneven tyre wear-out or me eventually going crazy
THANKS!

hey bro can you please tell me how much did you pay for the fork seal ..? because i am even i am having similar fork oil leakage.thanksOriginally posted by Doga View PostHad the fork seal replaced. The seawoods svc did not have stock so rode all the way to Ghatkopar, purchased the seal from there rode back to seawoods to get things done faster as the Ghatkopar Svc had so much lined up before they could tend to my bike. When I reached seawoods, I found the only Junior mech present that day repairing two other bikes which were supposed to be ridden to Pune so that the guys could participate in the Pune racing event or whatever.
Agony. Pure Agony.
I could have claimed warranty by getting it fixed at ghatkopar but the whole point was getting it done with fast.But.
Now the lovely part. After doing all this riding and waiting after I finally got my bike back I realized after reaching home that as has been his habit, he has screwed it up.The last time he replaced the handlebar, he used loctite as glue to stick the left bar grips on the handlebar. Yes loctite.Which ten had to be taken off and glued again using superglue.
This time he has most probably got the front wheel alignment wrong. There is this khat sound which accompanies a minor but perceptible shudder from the handlebar. Besides the front disc(obviously because of the slightly misaligned wheel) are constantly engaged given the heat that the disc is generating after a very short ride even If I do not brake. S
So there. I could not ride today just because a mechanic was not adequately trained. Really frustrating.
@Mountain and others discussing fork seals and USD forks : Guys I agree that the forks are rather misfit to the Indian riding conditions atleast in their current form. But I did play my part here. The bike has been ridden in constant rain without getting a single wash
. I am sure no other bike having USDs would be treated with so much disdain. I should have atleast tried to clean the forks once evry week.
and btw can you please paste a link to the page where the seal protectors were discussed ?
Riding with a cool mind always !

The charge is ok for inverted forks. The seal & fork oil will be replaced. It costs a bit more because removing & filling 'up side down' forks needs more labour. Try to get it fixed as soon as possible as riding without fork oil can have serious effects on fork which will turn to be more expensive affair.Originally posted by N E S T O Network View PostHello everybody , I dnt know why but my fork oil is leaking, please can anybody tell me why is that so. I am thinking of buying a ktm duke but i see owners complaining about coolant leak, forkoil leak, bad gaskets on the engine which makes engine leaks, engine fan malfunction, issues on ecu remap and all this mostly with in first service or just after their first service.. Got me wondering is if the build quality of ktm really bad?? (I got the impression that since bajaj is the distributor they might have reduced quality of parts since being an ex pulsar owner I know the build quality of bajaj isnt like yamaha).
and Can we custom set the rev-limiter at say 5500 rpm using the console with out remapping the ecu or making any modification to the bike?

THe fork seal was 370 + and the fork oil was also around that range + labour cost me around 800 IIRC.
Bad gaskets is something I have not seen yet on any bike. Fork seal would give way eventually if you do not completely avoid rain and slush owing to the fact its a USD fork and the bike is ridden on Indian roads. Although in my case I used to ride daily around 50 kms in heavy rains and it was bound to happen probably given the abuse I subjected the bike to.Originally posted by vijay666 View PostI am thinking of buying a ktm duke but i see owners complaining about coolant leak, forkoil leak, bad gaskets on the engine which makes engine leaks, engine fan malfunction, issues on ecu remap and all this mostly with in first service or just after their first service.. My engine fan doesn't really turn off in a hurry after coming on which means it takes a lot of time for it cool the radiator if the bike is stationary. I guess this is more an issue with the radiator/coolant rather than the fan. Coming to the remaps, don't worry, all dukes come with the new maps so there is no question of remapping unless KTM comes with a newer map neutering the Duke further
. My bike was from the early lots which had that crazy pick up lost after the remapping of course.
And why do you want the rev limiter down to 5500?The hero always RIDES into the sunset!

funny but i never went through a fork leakage yet on my duke. Lucky i guess!! but the terrains and weekend rides i go through is pretty much gruesome. I mean ive ridden it through rain, slush, knee deep water and mud. The fork boots usually gets covered in thick slushy mud but i never witnessed that. And 1000rs is too much. I wish i never go through a fork leak.Originally posted by N E S T O Network View Posthey bro can you please tell me how much did you pay for the fork seal ..? because i am even i am having similar fork oil leakage.thanks

Maybe you should take into consideration that people mostly post here when they have some problem (apart from several previous posts where owners "complain" they don't get to ride their Dukes as much as they'd wantOriginally posted by vijay666 View PostI am thinking of buying a ktm duke but i see owners complaining about coolant leak, forkoil leak, bad gaskets on the engine which makes engine leaks, engine fan malfunction, issues on ecu remap and all this mostly with in first service or just after their first service.. ).
There's so many owners out there without any issues.
I've never had any problem with my Duke. And I live in an area which has terrible and bumpy dirt roads, and I go through them fast, really abuse my bike, and redline it whenever I'm on a little better road. But still, after 7 months and 2 services the bike looks AND feels like new.
For me Duke 200 has by far the best quality of all bikes I've owned (Honda Unicorn, Yamaha R15 and FZ, Apache 160 and 180). And not to mention least vibes (actually no vibes at any RPM) and by far, far most fun and pleasure in riding it. It's fastest bike I've owned but in a same time it's the safest bike I've owned.
I could go on and on but what I want to say is that you can read about some issues by some owners and think most Dukes have these issues, but then you'd be plain wrong.
Also, most issues reported in this thread were present in first months after the Duke came out, almost a year ago, and most of these issues have been ironed out. Which is actually quite common pattern for almost any new bike. And don't tell me you consider releasing improved and smoother ECU remap an "issue"???
Spares are actually (and surprisingly) very cheap for such a premium bike, but some things, like fork oil leakage on inverted forks, can be (relatively) costly to fix. Well, a combination of inverted forks and bad roads simply gives a higher chance of fork oil leakage, even if bike quality is better than on other bikes. You gain on some cheap spares, you lose on some other more expensive issues. It's part of an ownership of any vehicle...
So far I'm super satisfied with owning a Duke - bike quality, service quality, ride quality. Everything is just so much better than with any other bike I've ridden or owned...
PS. Set rev limiter at 5500 rpm?? If you get a Duke you'll more likely want to set a bottom end rev limiter to 5500 rpm.
On a serious note - no, you can only set the rpm notification red light to whatever rpm you want. When bike reaches custom set rpm 1 the light starts blinking, and at rpm 2 the light goes fully on. It's used as a light notification when is best to change gears. I set mine to 8500 and 9500 rpm, whereas rev limiter is at (unfortunately low) 10500 rpm.Last edited by splus; 03-07-2013, 05:04 AM.

The build quality is distinctly average. IMO, It is not a factor big enough to affect your decision. It's not as good as R15 but not as bad old Pulsars either.Originally posted by vijay666 View PostI am thinking of buying a ktm duke but i see owners complaining about coolant leak, forkoil leak, bad gaskets on the engine which makes engine leaks, engine fan malfunction, issues on ecu remap and all this mostly with in first service or just after their first service.. splus very accurately answered your rev limiter question.
Additionally, for people looking at the other end of the rev-limiter spectrum. Race dynamics has officially launched their ECU for the Duke 200 today. Claims 11700 rpm rev-limit, top speed 150 kph, 0-100 is dealt 1 second faster. Cost 15k.Last edited by dishayu; 03-07-2013, 06:32 PM.Bajaj Pulsar 150 : 2004-2005
