Is it true that the Duke comes with semi synthetic 10,000 dtsi oil as prefilled engine oil?

also if this oil was prefilled then how can it be harmful to the engine ? and if i was given wrong info then advice me recommended mineral oil and i will get it changed tomorrow.

ALSO to all fellow Dukers, which Running method you all are adopting and why and for those who have already completed Running In, which method is most successful for Duke i.e. Motoman's, KTM one or a third option ?
I am trying mix of Motoman's but strictly under 7000 RPM's with some of my modifications
Surprisingly! Bajaj Pulsar 10000 dtsi is not ss it is mineral oil as told by the SVC guy!

Kindly give suggestions which has some weight and worthful. everyone know how it is and how does it feels as pillon rider.
I don't see any good solution apart from some heavy seat mod or moving the handles further to the back and slightly up so pillion can hold better, because the actual comfort of the back seat isn't that much of a problem as it is holding onto the bike not to fall over.

Without a seat mod the only and most practical solution is to tell the pillion to hold onto you!
      Simple as that...

yes the best solution is to hold the rider...but it if the pillion is a guy, then its very embarassing for both...as it sends out a bad impression to people around

Well then, no guys at the back of Duke...
Tell the guys to sit at the back at their own risk, and tell the girls to hold tight onto you!

Just look at the Duke! Isn't it OBVIOUS that whoever bought it doesn't consider the back seat comfort to be one of the most important requirements for them?
Come on, you just make yourself sound like a Splendor guy criticizing the back seat comfort of a performance bike again and again...
Nothing positive or negative dude. Just facts . Lack of a good rear seat makes the rider enjoy more freely without a pillion rider. Just dont consider that duke has a pillion seat (read pillion shit).

            • New Biker

              I'm to buy Duke.

There is lot of posts on engine break in. But confusing.

Can any one summarize what a new duker should do in throttling, changing oil to have proper Break in?

And also list the precautions & checks (like coolant level) to keep the machine always perfect?

              Thanks in advance dudes

The problem with the SVC guys is if You complain about acceleration or anything for that matter, they ll take a test ride and will tell You that everything is fine and finally they ll try their best to prove You wrong.
Nothing works without shooting out an email. (at least in my case).

Yea he came all the way from Krishnagiri to Chennai to get the service done.Regarding the font,it was a copy paste from FB and I could not find a way to change it to the normal font after fiddling with the font settings for a few minuits...

                        Buying Experience:

I got my Duke from KTM Lajpat Nagar. A good buying experience in all. Their warehouse is located at Dewan Bajaj, Lajpat Nagar only. Though not a big deal, but one has to walk all the way from KTM showroom to the Bajaj showroom for PDI and delivery.
I had to choose from several packed bikes and I almost unwrapped each bike just to be sure. Most of the bikes had their battery disconnected but it was connected by the mechanic upon request to check the odometer reading. I guess the odo reading of the bike I chose was somewhere around 4-5 km which is pretty much acceptable.
Performed the PDI, the bike was filled with a litre of petrol and I was ready to go. Funny incident happened there, When I was about to hop onto the bike, 4-5 men gathered there and their first question was...you guessed it right.."Kitna Deti hai?" I smiled and replied about 35-45 kmpl. Then he asked for price and I said 1.34 Lakhs OTR. Then he goes like "1.34 Lakhs for 35-45"? And there comes his coworker, a sardarji whose exact words I would like to quote here "Ooo Penchoo bike bhi to dekh, Kyaaa Bike hai!" and I burst into laughter. That dialogue gave me a big wide grin for the whole evening.

There were eyes popping out everywhere I went. Whole staff of the petrol pump where I fueled up was gazing upon the bike. A guy in a 320d even stopped his car to have a good look of the bike. I was feeling like a mini celeb.

                        Now coming to the bike:
                        Here are the pics..

                          • The console seems to be playing tricks. The last time when I went to refuel, after doing a tankful instead of showing full bars it was showing low fuel warning. I turned off the ignition and turned it on and it started working fine. Also at one point of time while riding at 50km, the rpm was showing only 3k or 3.5k and suddenly it bounced back to normal. This morning before I started the fuel gauge was showing only two bars above reserve and in few secs it was displaying four bars.

you guys forgot about fz .. it was my previous bike and its rear seat is smaller than duke's..yamaha have made the rear seat of fz bigger for 2012 models ..

best solution ..the pillion cant just sit casually .. they have to anticipate the rider's reactions and be prepared to be thrown back and front ..

how many of you feel the need for a full tyre hugger ??
currently the bike looks like a dirty pig after a ride in rain ..

Not sure of who Kamlesh or whatever it is, but I am sure he may be taking the forums a little less seriously than some of the other fanatics.

Regarding your console showing erroneous readings, thats quite normal. Digital consoles are full of shit, moreover on the bikes made in India. Dont expect it to be behaving very accurately on your bike.
