Yes inflammable, I am one of the guys who was too excited to test ride a duke when it came out, and I did. I reside in Delhi. Few things that I don't like about Duke (ironically they are its strongest points) -- Duke's a bit too low geared for me. It pulls very strongly in almost all gears, but the need to change to next gear feels almost instant due to the way it's geared. It somehow takes the easiness away from the ride, feels kind of stressed! Secondly, I really didn't enjoy the riding position. I sat more upright on it than on my FZ-S, but at the same time the foot pegs are positioned a bit too far back like an all out sportbike. That didn't really felt comfortable for me, I believe I would have been more comfortable if my back was angled more towards the front or may be the foot pegs were positioned slightly ahead. Lastly, it's a bit too naked for me! I enjoy some kind of wind protection. The Duke is certainly a killer motorcycle to ride in city but as you can see I have my own reasons to probably not go for it irrespective of its very competitive price tag. ... Let's not steal this thread anymore shall we?Originally posted by inflammable View PostDid you get a chance to ride duke.. genuinely?

Mileage does matter.. even at 1.25 lakh.. maybe it doesnt matter at 12.5 lakh..Originally posted by inflammable View Postyawn...
some one who is buying a 1.25 lakh bike... may not be that bothered about FE.
And at this price Duke 200 makes a much better bike and proposition.
CBR 150 = Over Priced, Under Powered, Honda Arrogance
Duke 200 and CBR 150R are priced similarly.. thats where the similarity ends..
I took a test ride on Duke 200 too and its an awesome motorcycle..
Duke is a street machine while baby CBR is sports bike may i say track oriented..
Duke was too aggressive for me it doesnt cruise besides the fact its pillion seat is tad too small
Baby CBR is designed to give the track bike feel although it is not as powerful as the real world track machines..
Both are great bikes... And no offense meant its naive to compare the two..
Its more like saying a spoon is better than the fork.. both does different things..
Given a choice I would have both..Life is an Open Road For me..

+1. It looks horrible IMHO. For quality I would still pick the R15 over this anyday.Originally posted by payeng View PostDoesn't the switchgear seemed to have been borrowed from the Splendor/Shine/CBF Stunner..??

I am more interested in proper track riders doing a head on comparision of stock bikes [R15 & CBR150] on a track.

it looks good, riding position good, mileage good, quality of engine good.. wat more do we want?
This seems to be the gear ratios of CBR 150R.
1st gear 3.038
Somebody please check it and post here the gear ratios including primary and final reduction ratios.

I dont think so its not 12.5lac. People who are concerned about FE only would buy this otherwise a CBR250 at just ~20K is a much better buy. Anyways I don't agree this would give above 35-36kmpl in average city riding.Originally posted by inflammable View Postyawn...

Only the switches i do not like when i view on showroom...otherwise all is well...at this price this should be much better....and hope that it will be sorted out in next upgrade...Originally posted by payeng View PostDoesn't the switchgear seemed to have been borrowed from the Splendor/Shine/CBF Stunner..??
and i think we all should write to Honda for the improvement of switches...

Actually almost every Yamaha product in India reeks of good Quality.. be its the YBR110, SS125, FZ or the R15.
"I enjoy the Quality" should actually be Yamaha India's tag line.

+1! Just like Stunner PGM-Fi and RTR180 are incomparable, even though the prices are very close. Its real competition is R15 which IMO looks 100 times better. But what Honda very smartly did was overprice the CBR150R so that people 'feel' that they are not comparable.Originally posted by catchdebanjan View PostMileage does matter.. even at 1.25 lakh.. maybe it doesnt matter at 12.5 lakh..

17-18k is not a small difference when it comes to OTR prices. Considering under sane riding, the CBR returns 50 and the R15 returns 40, i.e., it will save you Rs. 17.5(Price of 0.25 liter of petrol) for every 50km of riding. OR Rs.17.5k for 50k km of riding (And i didn't even count the interest you will earn on this amount). Fair enough, you break even after 50k, but what you lose in the bargain is the fact that R15 engine makes 25% extra torque(which is something which will help you immensely EACH AND EVERY DAY!) AND it has a less leaned forward riding position than the CBR150R, and the fact that what you are riding is actually from a segment below when you could have had something from a segment above for the same money.

So you mean to say that you couldn't handle the high power of the Duke? Or did you reject it solely for the lack of Fairing?Originally posted by catchdebanjan View PostDuke is a street machine while baby CBR is sports bike may i say track oriented..

Because Don't even think of comparing Duke with CBR150, nobody that dumb! I already gave you the Stunner Fi and RTR180 example. They don't even come in neighboring segments performance wise, Duke is 2 segments up!
CBR250R has a more upright riding position than the 150. 250 has more torque low down and less high up, opposite of the 150. So contrary to what you might feel, it is the CBR150R which is the track machine and the CBR250R which is the sports tourer. And once again, nobody is comparing the 2.Originally posted by catchdebanjan View PostBaby CBR is designed to give the track bike feel although it is not as powerful as the real world track machines..

What we are comparing here is the CBR150R and the R15, and both are track machines.Originally posted by catchdebanjan View PostIts more like saying a spoon is better than the fork.. both does different things..
Given a choice I would have both..Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

You are kidding rightOriginally posted by antz.bin View PostThe advantage that R15 has is that has much better performance across the rev range than the 'Full Faired Dazzler'.

R15 is too small to accommodate larger than average legs comfortably. CBR is much larger and the knee recesses are better in CBR (infact every Honda). So, I expect it to be much more comfortable. Will have to wait for a detailed reports to confirm it though. And please don't even start on the pillion seat.Originally posted by antz.bin View Post...
