Another two ways to know if you are getting a test drive piece is to check excessive wear on both front and rear discs.

As for anyone who test ride a P200NS, please take note of the VIN on the test drive mules and post it here so people can compare them with the VIN of the bike they are getting and therefore making sure is not a test drive piece.

I apologise for the red colored text, is just so people see it more easily and benefit from the info.

@Rohan : You red lined a "fresh bike from the stock" in dense traffic... kudos and congos!! You just ruined a brand new engine.. and from now own anyone who test rides the bike with that same engine.... would have the same observations that you had. Believe me that's not you fault at all.... in India where we have the "sab chalta hai" mentality, the dealers are giving fresh motorcycles to be test ridden... such things are bound to happen.

Engine Heating up!! Are we speaking any sense here at all!! Ever tried to understand why this might happen to a new engine?? Is that an issue at all?? We all think if there's a new bike, it can be gang raped from day one and the bike like a hooker would be eager waiting for the next dude to come and bang her (Sorry to go way overbord but really this is getting high now). A barnd new engine.. needs time to set in. Forget about the engine.. every nut and bolt, the rubber of the tyre need their time to set in. People take brand new motorcycles to do test reviews and test rides and come with all sorts of observation and here people have been using these bikes for more than 10k km and not having a single such observations, people taking NS to Leh and coming with a cosmic grine on their face... and here were are having RTR defying vibes!! I would say... we should consider ourselves lucky since the pistons didn't shoot out of the blocks!!

The dealers should always give properly runned in motorcycles for Test rides, but in Indian scenario where there is a billion population after an apple, I guess, that would be a very absurd scenario.

Please people give respect to the new engine. Just because of the fact that the NS is a new platform from Bajaj does not been it can be trashed and it won't complain. Do the same thing on a S1000RR or a R1 and see for your self what happens next

Looks like I missed a pure Haldi ghaati (read the yellow P200NS) ki ladayi last night for good

Well Dimpy pal, I simply love your avatar in this forum (Super Commando Dhruv... it was eons since I last saw that pic!!). All the more, you coming from an RE ownership and since this would be your (if you end up buying it ) first Bajaj motorcycle, I personally would be very interested in reading your views. Please do share as such a view gives a different perspective to the product.

It was really sick of you rip a new bike like that. U very well knew that those were not test riding bikes. even if u give the excuse of "SPORTS BIKE", and test riding means thrashing the bike at the fullest, then u should have waited the test bikes to be registered by the dealer, and not do it on the bike which u very well know that will be owned by some1 else.
                  .
I missed out on the thrashing last night i Would jus lik to add that all sport bikes are made almost exclusively and are not made in as large a number as the indian bike market. simply because nt many people own motorcycles abroad. having been in the UK for 2 years i know this for a fact.

And it is also a fact that all sport bikes or harleys or any bike for that matter manufactured in such an exclusive market are properly run in, tested on a dyno and taken out for a spin before the customer gets his/her hands on them. meaning you can thrash the bike from day 1 without much damage.

But in India it has become the sole responsibility of the owner to take care of the bike simply because of the large production unit. so do respect the bikes as any owner including me would lik my bike not even touched by anyone else as she'll be as close to my heart as anyone else in my life. even with all her glitches jus cause she's mine.

                  kindly excuse the elaborate message

                  • After last night's mayhem a post from my side is needed
                    1) Any new bike redlined will get heated and will emit smokes. The burning smell will also come by default. Ideally all the dealers(stands for all manufacturers) should have a test ride vehicle which is properly run-in(500kms) before giving it for test ride.
                    2) None of the reviewers claimed it to be the upgrade of P220, its a much better bike than the previous generation Pulsars and accelerates way faster.
                    3) The top five things about this bike are 1) handling, 2) handling, 3) handling, 4) 0-100 performance 5) overall riding comfort
                    4) I'm not going into the discussion of whether there was vibration or not, can be a result of multitude of reasons. What I can say with conviction is that 9/10 bikes will have zero or negligible vibrations

excelling in everyway apart from the top speed and maybe off road comfort level, from wat i've read, i think this bike wil be an upgrade and a good all rounder. but saying that i would never consider any bike an upgrade to my RE 350 cause i love my bike even wit all the trouble i've had to put up with :P no true biker would wan to disregard his first bike no matter wat its jus a performance upgrade but thats nt wat biking is entirely about

sir , seriously hand on heart i felt all the vibes after 6000rpm .. i even pointed it out to the people around and they accepted it .. another xbhp member was also with me and even he agreed .. the vibes were from foot pegs , handle and side panels .. i was surprised to feel the vibes from side panes and quite a bit of vibes from the perimeter frame ... we later verified it with the other bike too and it was the same .. we then compared it with a karizma as well .. karizma has a little bit of handle vibration at idling but smoothens out when the engine is decently revved ... foot pegs are very weak and they flex very easily with even a slight bit of effort ..

This is important guys, please do post the last 3 digit of Chassis and colour of the bike, when you are test riding it. It's for the good for the whole biking community. It's more so important in cases like the 200NS where there's a huge demand for a newly launched bike.

By the way, the first thing which I thought after seeing the bike in flesh in Bangalore, was the fact that there was a time when Bajaj stickered "OIL COOLED" in bold and promoted it as a USP of the bike (P200). But today when they actually have developed a world class "LIQUID COOLED" bike, there's no mention of it!! Either the Indian market is matured or Bajaj has become too big!

However another small incident bought smile on my face. While checking out the gleaming RED 200NS at Khivraj, i met a guy in his late 20s booking the P220. I asked him why didn't he consider the 200NS? And well he said "Am I mad to buy a 5 costlier bike which is way inferior to the 220!" Well I just had a before I left the showroom.
