Re: World of Sprockets!
Anyone who has changed the rear sprockets of Pulsar 150 or 180 UG3 for overgearing please help >>
I have a Pulsar 150 UG4.5(25,000 KMS done) stock sprocket setup is 15T/44T
Rear Sprocket has 4 mounting holes, chain pitch -0.428
I feel the bike is very undergeared for both traffic and highways
The first gear is basically useless as it is too short and during traffic I have to shift constantly between 1st-2nd gear(I dont slip the clutch at all and always prefer to shift down)
This one is bothering me the most as I feel the first gear is almost useless(Almost all the guys I know using 150Ug4.5 feel the same )
And during highway rides it feels good at 50 KMPH but as soon as I take it around 60KMPH it feels weird I feel like either taking it at around 75 or drop it around 50
It performs its best at 70 and feels good at those speeds(It does 63-65KMPH @ 5,000RPM )
My chain, sprockets are in good condition and I would like to change the rear sprocket only for overgearing for highway rides
I don't want to change the entire chain sprocket kit
(I want it around 4,000-4,500RPM for 60KMPH)
I am okay with loss in pickup
Please help me out guys
Thanks in advance

Re: World of Sprockets!
Hello People..
I have a different query. Is it possible to change the sprocket hub. actually my bike has a rear sprocket with 4 holes. but i don't find any chain sprocket kit with an o-ring in that spec. but with 6-hole there is an o-ring option. right now i have to buy two chain sprocket kits and use the 4 hole rear sprocket from one kit and the chain & inner sprocket from other one. if i could change the sprocket hub, then i will be able to go with only one sprocket kit.

Re: World of Sprockets!
I used a RX 100's 36T rear and it made a hell lot of difference. 1st now feels like the original 2nd, which is cool, considering that the original 1st is useful only for pulling wheelies. Had to take the RX sprocket to a lathe and do a bit of welding and drilling to match it.Originally posted by V!RU$ View PostAnyone who has changed the rear sprockets of Pulsar 150 or 180 UG3 for overgearing please help >>

I sold the P150 and have a 200NS now.
Edit: I don't remember exactly whether the RX sprocket was 36 or 39, but I remember I got 56kmph at 4000 rpm.Last edited by krixna; 04-07-2016, 02:13 AM.

I was browsing online and saw a few rear sproket shots on indiamart and the rx100 and lml freedom do look like they will fit mine

You mentioned the lathe work ...
what was done, I didn't understand the cutting and welding part ??
Also lml freedom is showing as 4holes I thought it was 6holes ??Last edited by V!RU$; 04-08-2016, 01:06 AM.

Re: World of Sprockets!
Yes, the lathe work. Will have to weld metal at, say 4 places in the big inner hole for hub, and bore it to get exact fit on the hub. Once this is done, close out all 4 holes (for bolts) with welding, mark the places needed for the holes by keeping your old sprocket on top of the new one, drill the exact size using correct drill bit. That's it!Originally posted by V!RU$ View PostThanks dude

Note: make the welding very very slow and allow time to cool between welding two places. Or the sprocket may warp. Use the RX sprocket, trust me. It ran for 10K plus kms before I sold the bike. Looked good for another 10K.Last edited by krixna; 04-08-2016, 02:23 AM.

Re: World of Sprockets!
Brothers, anyone has an idea about the RC390? It has a 15/45 combination. Duke 200 has a 14T front sprocket which I am plannig to put, but i am not sure if it is a direct fit. Any ideas? Current gearing ratio is 3. My aim is to inc acceleration ... Top speed is unusable most of the times anyway, and 6gear is just too tall also ....
So anyone who knows which bikes' sprocket iI can install will be great
.
Im flirting with with either a 14T or a 13T front. Question is which one will fit in RC390...

Re: World of Sprockets!
Hi,
Is any other bike uses 15/45 sprockets ? I"m having naked Gixxer 155cc. Would like to change the entire set. I'm able to feel the tyre wobble even though the air pressure is as recommended. Just 20k kms used...Just follow my shadow.

Re: World of Sprockets!
Wheel wobble is due to worn out wheel bearings, not sprockets.Originally posted by Dynamo View PostHi,

Re: World of Sprockets!
I have pulsar 150 ug4.5. Want to increase both acceleration and top end.
So as per my knowledge if i want to increase both acc and top end then ill have to use both bigger front and rear sprockets.
1. For top end ill be using a 15t sprocket, so which bike's sprocket will be a direct fit?
2. For acceleration ill be using the rear 37t of p220( should i use the stock chain or use the chain of p220 and cut some links from it?)
3. I will also use the cdi unit of p220 so that i can extract a lil more topend from my bike as the stock cdi redlines at 9000rpm and the 220's redline is at 10000.
Is the three mods which i have listed ok? Whats the pros and cons of these as i wnt do anything which will harm my babe [emoji4]

Re: World of Sprockets!
You can't increase both unless you modify the engine. Sprocketing can change only ONE - either top end or accelerationOriginally posted by @wrickomania View PostI have pulsar 150 ug4.5. Want to increase both acceleration and top end.

Re: World of Sprockets!
It's not possible to get both acceleration & top end from the same sprocket set . Either u get acceleration, using a smaller front or bigger rear sprocket set. Or u can get slight top end by using bigger front & smaller rear sprocket. Theoretically u can achieve top speed over gearing , but it's not possible practically dur to the limitations of p180 structure.Originally posted by @wrickomania View PostI have pulsar 150 ug4.5. So it's highly recommended to use stock setup .

Re: World of Sprockets!
By p180 structure you meant the chassis of p180 right? So should i stick to stock or use a bigger rear sprocket?Originally posted by vvk1999 View PostIt's not possible to get both acceleration & top end from the same sprocket set .
