Re: World of Sprockets!
Nice suggestion infact a p220 is in my wishlist but you might not know the pleasure and enjoyment of modding a bike and getting a lil more than the stock performance [emoji6]Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostHow about getting a new bike? A more powerful one!

Well, if demands are unrealistic then no modification would help!Originally posted by @wrickomania View PostNice suggestion infact a p220 is in my wishlist but you might not know the pleasure and enjoyment of modding a bike and getting a lil more than the stock performance [emoji6]

Re: World of Sprockets!
Hi dude,Originally posted by @wrickomania View PostI have pulsar 150 ug4.5. Want to increase both acceleration and top end.
So as per my knowledge if i want to increase both acc and top end then ill have to use both bigger front and rear sprockets.
1. For top end ill be using a 15t sprocket, so which bike's sprocket will be a direct fit?
2. For acceleration ill be using the rear 37t of p220( should i use the stock chain or use the chain of p220 and cut some links from it?)
3. I will also use the cdi unit of p220 so that i can extract a lil more topend from my bike as the stock cdi redlines at 9000rpm and the 220's redline is at 10000.
Is the three mods which i have listed ok? Whats the pros and cons of these as i wnt do anything which will harm my babe [emoji4]
P220 CDI Firing timing and yours P150 will be totally different(Even models of P150 CDIs are different from one another and if interchanged may cause serious mis-firing issues). P220 CDI is different, both physical and Functional when compared to P150s CDI. Never ever do this mistake. You will lose your money simply by buying P220s CDI.
Extracting more power simply by pushing more than your bikes standards(More Redlining) is not at all suggestible.

P150 is a decent (i may say at its best) all round performer. Its still a good competitor for the other 150s out in market. It has also decent touring capability (Source: myself done many times on my UG2). The bike was tuned to its best by the company. (Both for performance and for FE)
If you want ur bike to last long and trouble free. avoid the following if they are in your mind.
--K&N's, free flow filters and Carburettor Jetting
--Free flow exhaust
--Customized CDI or others
These can be done if your current bike is only an alternative for your daily needs.
AFAIK , either you can get
--more Topend(more Speed at less RPMs) i.e; Over-gearing or
--attaining more acceleration quickly i.e; Under-gearing
Overgearing--
Pros-- Less engine stress and more speed at lower RPMs than before, May be a little more FE while touring or long rides..???(Im not sure about it)
Cons-- Bike feels slugglish, Cant zip zap more often as we used to do earlier. If you are a signal racer or you live in a city where the traffic is horrible you may end beating your engine more.
Undergearing--
Pros--Bike will be quicker. but u cant beat a higher CC bike just by adding it. The Quick effect will fade with time once we get used to it...!!!
Cons--Engine struggles(High RPMs) more to reach speeds, earlier which it used to do normally. Obviously lesser FE. I personally dont like the bike reaching higher RPMs just for little fun sake. Also obviously less engine durability, more clutch wear.
So i recommend you to decide accordingly. But in my opinion, Over-gearing will be better if you are sedate rider
Go through previous pages to decide for the best combination. FYI, O-ring chains are little bit heavier than your bikes chain. Talk with an user prior deciding anything.

Re: World of Sprockets!
No bro ill just stick to stock. all this happend only because of my half knowledge as i knew bout the pros only and not the cons that ill hve to loose out on smthn too while modding my bike. For me my bike's engine condition is more important , will never stress it too much [emoji4]Originally posted by Srinivas sr143sr View PostBuddy,

Go ahead and do the mod. there are a dozen ways to improve the performance. you can use high lift cams, you can make the bore wider, racing cdi, better spark plug, supporting core wires, use an after market air filter and exhaust, shed some weight.. think and do as per your taste. you can definitely improve the performance. but there is a limit for that.
