Could you please explain when the chain links are required to be removed.

Experts,
I feel the second gear of my SS125 is tall and it's a pain to drive the vehicle in traffic; I need 13T sprocket for front or any other combination for both, which is a direct fit for the vehicle.
Any suggestions for the same? I am looking for acceleration here.Thanks,
