Re: World of Sprockets!
I have been using daytona dagrex 13 teeth front sprocket on my fz.It is a used one (by my friend) but on good shape (preety new).
Why do I get khat khat kind of sound from this sprocket .? It seems chain link touches sprocket lock and there is dent on the lock.

Re: World of Sprockets!
Guys....just a clarification.
if i fit Unicorn's sprocket in my Hunk, how much kmph would i gain for every gear...?
whether the stock chain needs to be modified to match unicorn's sprocket..?
thanks in adv.

Re: World of Sprockets!
Have any of you faced chain srocket noise issue after altering sprocket.
I have been changing sprocket on my fz.Front 14/13 and rear 40/42.Default is 14/40 for front and rear respectively.
Beacause of noise issue (only from front sprocket like khat khat) I finally went back to default (14/40) but still I am having the problem (though less than while using other).
Noise is really bad when when using clutch and on neutral.I can feel left foot peg vibrating due to drag of chain.
This chain sprocket set is around 6 k kms old and appears healthy on visual inspection.
I am about to go for a ride of 500 kms so am afraid of this noise.

Noise was actually beacuse of tight chain setting.I rode my bike for almost 6k kms on tight chain.
I totally depended on mechanic for all the setting but later when I checked the chain slack it was about 20 mm which manual states 30-40 mm.Maintained the slackness and problem is gone.
Now gear shift is smooth and engine feels relaxed and roar when ripped .
Before engine used to sound stressed .

Re: World of Sprockets!
Hi guys,
a question came into my mind. Can we do some kind of sprockketing mods on N250 to bbring its ower band down to 5k - 6k RPMs. specifically for cruising while touring. If yes, what are those mods and what effect would have on the bike like topspeed, accelaration,, fe and most importantbikes engine.Siddhartha

Re: World of Sprockets!
To all fz/fazer owners, I would like to share my experience. I changed my front sprocket to 15T of unicorn. And its really better now. I have driven about 3k kms with it and its great. Initial pickup is almost the same, but top has got a lot better. I suggest all of you to change to 15T as according to me fz is a bit under geared, and i bet you wont regret.

Re: World of Sprockets!
Assuming you are talking about front sprocket, people says that they got top some where between 115-125 kmph max depending upon other factors also, 15T (Unicorn's front sprocket) our is 14T, will make the acceleration poor you may struggle in traffic, benefit is for highway only.Originally posted by dineshaugustin View PostGuys....just a clarification.

The same chain can be used with Unicorn's front sprocket, only some slackness of chain will be required at the time of sprocket installation.KTM RC390 - Current

Re: World of Sprockets!
Thanks. If it is going to reduce much of acceleration, then better to use stock... :thumbup:Originally posted by itsmevini123 View PostAssuming you are talking about front sprocket, people says that they got top some where between 115-125 kmph max depending upon other factors also, 15T (Unicorn's front sprocket) our is 14T, will make the acceleration poor you may struggle in traffic, benefit is for highway only.

Re: World of Sprockets!
You don't always need a Daytona, for broke people like me we have rtr160 and v2.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post
Yamaha YZF R15 Version 1.0: Stock Setup: 14/42
To overgear it, use rear sprocket, 40 teeth from Yamaha FZ 16. (Thanks anirudh_fz1)
Daytona Kits for R15 (may be expensive):
To undergear it, get the Daytona Kit's 13 teeth front,
To undergear it, get the Daytona Kit's 44 teeth rear,
To overgear it, get the Daytona Kit's 40 teeth rear.
To undergear use 13 teeth rtr160 front sprocket(get it with locking ring and those 2 bolts) costs around 70 for sprocket and 12 for ring.
To overgear use 15 teeth front one from v2. But beware, you need to loosen the chain to accommodate this one, if yours is dialled at first setting then chances are this one isn't for you. costs about 120 for ring and sprocket.
These are all three I have, am using them regularly. 14T stock is most used, currently using 13T for acceleration. 15T only when I am sure that I would be riding in city all time.

Tanmay26 : Thank you so much for this practical info. I've added this in the first post, along with proper credits to you for the contribution.
This is the power of unity. In the starting, we didn't have much knowledge about all the sprockets fitting, but now we have accumulated so much that other sites copy from this thread.

Guys, do continue experimenting, and contributing to this list of direct sprocket fits, on page#1. This practice helps everyone.---

Re: World of Sprockets!
Successfully fitted both sprockets from KTM Duke 200 to my P180 UG4. Loving the extra acceleration.
Duke 200 specs: Front: 14T Rear: 43T Chain Links: 110 Chain Pitch: .520 (i think)
Had to remove 6 links from the new duke chain. Got it done from a KTM service guy from Wakadewadi service center.------------------------------

Re: World of Sprockets!
Do you know removing links from an O-Ring chain is not recommended. These are sealed chains and have no open link. It would compromise the purpose of having such a chain.Originally posted by chinmay_7d View PostHad to remove 6 links from the new duke chain. Re: World of Sprockets!
Yea the KTM guy told me that its not easy to remove links from the duke chain. But then there was no other way and this guy is well experienced with modding of bikes so i just trusted him with it. He also explained me how he removed links and sealed the chain again but that was too mechanical for me to understand. :POriginally posted by nadz11.ns View PostDo you know removing links from an O-Ring chain is not recommended.
