Do you want to undergear or overgear? So that it will be helpful to provide the the correct pointers. You will get improved low end power (torque) the bike will accelerate hard at lower speed which is good enough in traffic and will gain you very slight top-end speed as the bike will accelerate harder.

I like to get rid of this o ring which is making karr karr noice always. God know how much taken care of it by correct cleaning and using only motul chain spray. So am gonna try normal chain this time. Thats why asking about p150s chain. Any other better suitable options? Then let me know.my fz is not making this problem even after ruff use.

Tell you what, O ring is by far the best chain when it comes to both longevity, reliability than those ordinary chains. If O-rings are sealed like other bikes, it'd last even longer than most conventional chains. It's not just Motul you need to clean a O ring chain. You can use kerosene and use a brush to gently clean the chain and pressure wash, it become brand new, lube it and you are set for 500 KMS or more. Open chains do need care because obviously they are open and they are prone to harsh conditions. I understand the care you've given, but it's the care given correctly, not just lubing. Open chains need to be getten rid of the those grit, sand and dirt particles, when the chain will get smooth, and lube it, it's almost as smooth in operation.

If you keep lubing on top of an already grumpy chain, it will just aggravate the wear condition even more. First, clean them, nice and clean, them lube them, you'll feel thd difference.

      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Thanks friend for such a long replay. But i dont like to continue it any more. Hated it like that. You dont know how much caring given. Cleaned it at ever 500 kms using diesel and lubed it. Sometimes even earlier than that. And now became into a state to hat this😁. And as i said earlier am nit facing this issue with my fz which i dont care much like my pulsar.

In my apache there is o-ring chain & personally I never feel any symptoms like u said ... yes it needs more care than closed chain specially in rainy season.. I have to clean & lube it frequently .. on riding it on water logged road its chain lost all the oil & I have to lube it ... if u want to switch to non o-ring chain I would mot recommend u to do it ..

Thanks for your suggestions. But, i was not trying to say like all o rings are just crap.. Please read my post well. Its clearly written there. As i mentioned there is 2 bikes with me with o rings one is fz, and p180. And am getting problems with this pulsar o ring only. Fz is going well. And here in my local area, there is many pulsar 220,200,180 with non o ring chains because if same issue. And i have ridden one 220 with non o ring, and i was amazed seeing how silent it is. Never ever felt this much silence from chain even when my bike was new. I think u might understood what i was saying in my earlier post.

yes it is strange for 1 bike it is gud & for other it is worst... so if you are switching to non o-ring chain do post your experience with that..

I'd love to kindly advice to correct your point before you make such assumptions. O-ring is way better than ordinary chains, and last longer. Of course all chain, be it any ring, needs periodic maintenance.

                Cheers!

Its cleraly written there my exact problem which i am getting only from my pulsar, at the same time fz o ring working well. That means, am not opposed to this o ring concept. I was only mentioning about this pulsar o ring. Do u understand? What i said?
Still if u dont, then i dont know how to express better than this. Thanks..

JASMINE, yes buddy, I get your point. To my experience khat khat noises or any sort of noises comes from the following explanations. First is loose chain, which negatively impacts the performance, as there is chain lash when throttle is opened up, so that's one. Just imagine a rotating a conveyor with a loose belt no matter what power you give, the power gets slipped and causes reduced rear wheel movement plus sounds. Now tighten it up, and you're set.

Second, as I mentioned is worn sprockets both front and rear. Most of the times, chain wear is inversely proportional to the sprocket components, meaning the rear wears faster than the other and vice versa and the chain too. If someone forgets to maintain their chain and then all of a sudden start taking care, significant damage might have already been done to the chain. So lubing, cleaning etc will no have no effect.

Third is the very slackness of the chain, too much tightening will cause the chain to expand upon loads. It may seem well for a single rider, but with added pillion the supsension travels more and that puts added pressure on the chain resulting in premature sprocket wear, chain expansion and all sort of sounds.

So the verdict is simple, try replacing the chain and sprocket as set, get your bike's wheels aligned properly, even uneven alignment can impact handling negatively.

                      Cheers!

                        Loose or tight chain.
And, never changed chain, sprocket separately.the whole kit was changed which will cost close to 1.5 k.
Corrected allignment too. But, i will check it again. Thanks. But these were not the issues.

Please check these once again, and do let us know. Because I've faced issues too, but these are the boxes that needs to ticked in most cases these aren't ticked, but do let us know after adjusting for these terms.

Wanted to know the difference of cost between an O-Ring and X-ring chain. I have read that the x-ring performs slightly better than the O-ring due to reduced friction.

Anyone using an Xring chain here? what is the difference in performance when it comes to riding with it?

any brands that sell X-ring chains ?

The only bike that has Z-ring on offer as a PowerPart is the X-ring. The X ring is comparatively better than O-ring very minimal because it provides a tad good lubrication than the O-ring, it doesn't mean O ring is inferior as such. O-rings is cheap and lasts to an extent, more or less to a sealed chain. But yes, as you've said the contact patch and friction is less due to a bigger contact patch of oil which obviously leads to better lubrication and reduced friction.

O-rings are cheap than a combination of both rings, which are costlier.

But the catch word is LUBRICATION be it any ring.

                              Cheers!

                                Hello all,
I have a 2012 Fazer. The chain is making a lot of noise. The chain setting is at the extreme so i will have to change the sprockets as suggested by the local Yamaha SVC. I need more acceleration. I am not much bothered about the top speed. I have the following queries-
                                1. Apart from the R15 v1.0 rear sprockets which other sprockets should i have a look at for better acceleration?
                                2. Are the V1.0 42T a direct fit on the Fazer. The SVC has told me they cant put the R15 sprockets as they have to make holes. Can anyone please help?
Btw the odo stands at 17k kms.
                                thanks
