    1. Apart from the R15 v1.0 rear sprockets which other sprockets should i have a look at for better acceleration?
    2. Are the V1.0 42T a direct fit on the Fazer. The SVC has told me they cant put the R15 sprockets as they have to make holes. Can anyone please help?
Btw the odo stands at 17k kms.
    thanks
To overgear it, use front sprocket, 15 teeth from Honda Unicorn or Bajaj Pulsar 150/180 UG3. To undergear it, use rear sprocket, 42 teeth from Yamaha YZF R15, and yes I think they must be swappable.

    Cheers!

Fitted 15t set up on apache.
I could not find the plates and pin of pulsar for ...so mech did it with ct 100 plate. The plate is not a direct fit.
We had to break it in half and use it with one pin.
I was concerned that whether it is safe but he showed me set ups in older bikes was way weaker and he is sure that this will stay without any issues.
      So,
For apache 180 if you are using 100/80/17 tyre you would find it more short geared.Vibes would be greater, the free revving nature will vanish and 1st gear almost becomes useless.
In that case you can use 15t from pulsar with stock plates or ct 100 plates cut in half.
Bike does 66.x at 5000 rpm in top gear.It is slightly taller than stock.
Did not feel any loss in pick up..vibes reduced and hopefully an increase in mileage.
Now I can peacefully cruise which was not possible earlier and the low end torque is better felt in this set up.
      Bike now ran >1.5k.
Happy to say that this set up works flawless.
      Also other points noted-
The perfect region where you leave clutch and accelerate is reduced.Stalled bike a few times in traffic during the first rides but now fine .
The engine at top gear seems to be relaxed and calmer.
For normal commuting earlier I could easily putter in 5th gear for a speed of 45kmph.Now at such low speeds the 5th gear lacks punch.
But it makes up in top end performance.I did not measure the top speed in both cases but at speeds like closer to 100kmph bike feels like it wont die like felt with earlier set up.
Also engine breaking reduced.More gear shifts required too.
      Mileage-slightly better.

It's obvious that the bike lacks punch in low end to the performance, but once you're in the rev sweet spot you'll definitely get the punch. Since it's overgeared, the bliss of that is different, than the menacing low end power these Apache's used to have. BTW, which plate did you use, the CT 100 or the Pulsar's?

        Cheers!

Ct 100(not a direct fit)..had to tamper with it to use!

Yeah you're right, the CT 100 does need some tampering to affix the plate. But why didn't you use the Pulsar's plate, just curious.

Its not available at Ass of bajaj or at local shops.
Even the 15t sprocket was not available to purchase individually.Had to search a lot and found one rusty piece with manufacturing year 2009!
The ct 100 holder plate also sourced from thrown away parts in a local workshop.
OT:Now Bajaj ass won't even sell dtsi10000 oil, they will change it and give if we take the bike to them and charge for oil change!
Whats up with not selling spares? Is it only in kerela?

Nah! They do sell spares if you know what you want. I tried it twice, I bought me the accelerator cable and clutch cable from ASS.

                  Hi !

Want a little information on how sprocket ratios work?
I have a RX100, stock bore and stock chain sprocket set. But this setup is good for mad acceleration but doesn't give a smooth top end. When above 90 and closing on 100kmph it feels like the bike desperately needs a 5th gear.

I am looking for a sprocket setup which can give me a decent top end. Not looking for achieving any top-speed record, but the bike does 100kmph with ease but you cannot hold that speed for long because the bike feels more stressed, I am looking for more relaxed top-end...

Go for a bigger front sprocket or a smaller rear sprocket. Generally in the range of two tooth max.

Hai... Friends..recently changed my pulsar 180 ug4s chain sprocket sets to karizmas chain sprocket set as stock chain was giving problems for me. Now bike is running fine. But, it became tooo much short geared. Top end and mileage considerably dropped. Pulsar 180 ug4s stock set up is 14/39.karizmas set up is 13/40. Thinking to over gear it by changing front sprocket to 14 teath. Which front sprocket is suitable for this? Already tried using pulsars 14t front sprocket. But, it wasnt suiting with karizmas chain. What other front sprocket can i use?

Of course it would, with the setup it's a little confusing for the bike. I'd suggest, keep the front sprocket as the stock or get a smaller front sprocket with a maximum change of one teeth front and three to two teeth in the rear.

You can use the P220 DTSI 36 sprocket and see how it fares.

                        Cheers!

IDK if its right thread to ask my question but being releted to chain and sprocket, i would go with this.

I am using Yamaha Fazer for almost 2 years now and ODO reads hardly 11k!
But this time when I went to service center(after almost 5 months after last servicing) they asked me to replace chain sprocket as it cant be adjusted further. I didnt changed it yet and wanted to do some research before fitting new set which costs 1500 INR.

I used Motul chain cleaner and Chain lube for almost every 500 to 700 kms after 7 8k on ODO... before that it was free servicing where my chain was getting lubed as my running between two services was hardly 800 to 1000 kms.

Now the bolt which holds rear wheel has reached to rear end of adjustment area and cannot be tightened any further. So the SVC person asked me to replace it. My question is why the chain loosened so early? and is there any other option or to just replace chain sprocket?

PS. the svc person was like.. "aap ghar pe lubricate karte ho isliye itna toh chala.." seriously? i spent 900 bucks for that cleaner and lube! :O nd now replace the chain for 1.5k!

Sprocket usage is always a game of hide and seek, for some it lasts real long, but for most it hardly reaches 20k and for some it goes with 15k itself. The chain slack adjuster to the end means it can't be adjusted anymore, which means either your sprocket or your chain is worn. But when replacing, it's a good idea to replace them both as a set. If you replace either of the one, the one you've replaced will wear faster than usual.

Replace the chain sprocket set, get it adjusted properly right in front of them. Just lubing won't do, chains need periodic adjustment. A loose chain if lubed or not lubed will wear pretty fast irrespective of periodic lubrication.

                            Cheers!
