    hellooo all

I have apache rtr 160 latest model , i have completed 4k on odo. I want to change my front sprocket from13T to 14T . should I go for fiero f2 or r15 's 14T front sprocket which will direct fit on my rtr .Do i have to buy only front sprocket or the whole kit???.. In previous models of apache both f2 & r15 sprocket is direct fit ... why rtr 180 's 14T front sprocket is not a direct fit in 160 but reverse is a direct fit???

    thanks in advance.....

Why there is a difference in the reverse fit is of question, but tell you what, reverse fit can be done without any harm. All you need to take into consideration is the fitment holes and the chain pitch. To overgear RTR 160, use the 14 teeth front sprocket from Yamaha YZF R15/ Fiero F2. Changing the chain and sprockets in pair will help extend your chain set life significantly.

R15s spare are almost always costly. Do keep us posted on the review.

Hero Honda Karizma: Stock Setup: 13/40 on .520 Pitch.

To overgear, use a 38 teeth Rear Sprocket from P200, but P200 chain length is not sufficient. Adjust your Karizma Chain after installing.

hi i too thinking of this mod but instead of overgear i what to undergear it, ie changing rear sprocket to 44T to 46T
so will 46T of rtr180 can be fitted to rtr160 and please share if iam wrong

why do u want to undergear it.... it will affect ur top speed & mileage .... rtr 160 has got enough acceleration .... btw in the 2012 model both the 160 & 180 has 17" wheel base so i think they will fit .... but not sure .....

It's hard to know all the sprocket config all the bikes. Perhaps you can just visit the SVC guys and they will be able to give you an idea. And if you have any questions on how to overgear/undergear, perhaps we can help.

Personally, Apache has one of the best on the spot acceleration, why do you want to undergear it even more, it would make the bike more sluggish to ride on highways if you undergear the bike even more. On the contrary you can overgear if you want to.

                      I have apache 180.
The stock gearing was almost perfect(though a bit short) for my purpose.
Changed rear tyre to r15 v1 which is low profile and made the gears even short.Vibrations increased and cannot cruise comfortably at range of 70-80 comfortably.
                      So planning to overgear.
15 teeth front sprocket from Bajaj Pulsar 150/ 180 UG3 can be used.
But many said with stock set up rtr looses all its fun character.
Stock rtr does..65 at 5000 rpm in top gear
Mine does........62 at 5000 rpm in top gear
Want to know what speed it will do with overgeared set up?
Any other way to make gears taller?

I guess you mean with modified 15T setup it looses its fun character? Then it is partly true. On RTR180 with stock tyre (65kmph at 5000 rpm), if you plonk a 15T at front it changes to 69-70kmph and the reduction in acceleration is quite noticeable, but since you say your bike gearing is shorter than stock (due to r15 tyre) then the reduction in acceleration maynot be as much & the bike might do 66-67kmph at 5k rpm.

There is another option of changing the rear sprocket to that of RTR160's. 180 comes with 46T rear & 160 comes with 44T. In simple terms, one tooth change in front sprocket teeth is equivalent to 3 teeth change in rear sprocket. So clearly, shifting to RTR160's rear sprocket might give you similar performance as stock RTR180.

                        Hope this answers your question.

                          1)Stock apache at 5000 rpm-64
                          2)With r15 v1 rear tyre -62.3
                          3)With r15 v1 rear tyre and 15t(pulsar ug3) -66.8
                          4)With r15 v1 rear tyre and 44 rear sprocket(rtr 160) -65.2
Cheapest one would be 3rd one as only front sprocket needs to be changed...but 4 th one would be closer to stock set up.
4th set up is a direct fit ?How much would rtr 160 rear and pulsar 150 ug3 15t cost?

@albyjose, The 15T front sprocket for P180 costs less than 100 bucks (genuine one) but you also have to find the holder plate and the nuts too. The existing one cannot be used for 15T.

44T rear sprocket should be a direct fit since same rear wheel setup is used in both 160 & 180. I am not sure of exact cost of 44T but the entire chain sprocket set costs a little over 1000, so I am guessing it would cost around 400-500.

Going to 15T is the cheapest and hassle free solution. You can even do the sprocket change yourself if you have time it is pretty simple really. And if you ride more on highways then you will like this setup as you can happily cruise at higher speeds & the bike will feel a little more relaxed.

Holder plate and nuts should be available at Bajaj spares. But I had to run around a few shops to find it.
