    hey guys,
my handlebar has become very hard, and one of the mechanics at babloo motors told me that the coneset needs to be replaced.
does anybody have any experience with this problem? and if so the cost of this piece?
    thanks..

If your bike is in warranty. Take it to svc and tell them to sort it out. If they do it , its good. If atall you spending from your pocket dont replacr with the stock coneset. Search for ALL BALLS TAPERED ROLLER BEARINGS. It is being used by many Ninja 300 owners worldwide and improves handling by a good margin

If you are replacing the cone set then go for tapered bearings from All Balls

Awesome bike. Had it been priced like the RC at 2.5 lacs, I'd hv gladly taken the Ninja instead of the Duke. Looks so damn good. [emoji7]

Can anybody tell me what's the FE in normal running conditions btw?

                        • Re: Kawasaki Ninja 300 Ownership Experience

Hi Guys I am Abhishek, new to this forum. First of all I would like to thank all of you who created a thread like this which really help new guys like me in getting their queries answered and get suggestions from senior member.

I recently became a proud owner of Ninja 300 – white colour. I was very confused whether I should go for such a costly bike or not (nobody in my family supported my decision to buy Ninja 300 but sometimes all you need to do is to follow your heart) then I started following this thread and read almost all the 174 pages to get an idea of long term ownership and after reading so many positive feedbacks I was so sure that this is the Bike that I want to own now. So this thread definitely helped me in making my decision.

I have a Royal Enfield Thunderbird as well for last 6 year which I wanted to upgrade to a 500 CC classic as I was always a fan of Bullet but not sure how this sports bike bug bit me and I started leaning towards bikes like Duke, R3 and Ninja300 though I wanted to own either N300 or R3 but these were never my choice because I did not want to exceed my budget for bike beyond 2.5 lakhs. I started following Duke 390 threads but one day I landed on this thread and after reading ownership stories and lot of positive feedbacks I couldn’t stop thinking of this bike. I started searching for sparingly used 2nd hand Ninja and kept my budget around 2.8 lakhs(2.5 for bike and 30k for Insurance and Safety gears). I couldn’t find many 2nd hand Ninja in Pune so after negotiating with couple of sellers I finalised a one year old Ninja, got the bike and service history thoroughly checked at Bajaj KTM/Ninja service centre, after that I finalised the deal and brought my White Ninja home
This was like a dream come true for me as I was thinking of getting such a bike for last 2-3 years and spent a lot of sleepless nights surfing details about N300, watched almost every YouTube review of N300 multiple times.

Now coming to my ownership experience, currently it’s rainy season in Pune so I did not get a chance to take the mean machine for long ride but did a couple of early morning short ride to Lonavala to feel the power and acceleration. Most of you already know what this machine is capable of with just a little twist of throttle at right RPM, I was thrilled by the Speed it can attain in a very short stretch and also very impressed by the breaking power although I have read lot of negative reviews for breaking but till now I am happy with the breaks.I wanted to write this review after a couple of long rides but then review was getting delayed because of that so I thought of putting it with whatever limited experience I have till now with this bike as it may help someone like me to make his/her decision and will update it later.

Summary of my limited experience till now –
                          1. Really happy with this bike, it moves my soul whenever I ride it.
                          2. Top notch quality of plastic and paint, almost perfect finishing. You will definitely get what you are paying for.
                          3. White color is not an attention catcher when riding but when parked it will turn all eyes towards it.
                          4. Not a very eager to jump machine on low RPM, very easy to ride in city as well because of super light slipper clutch. Below 7k RPM it rides like a normal city bike but one you crosses that 7k RPM mark then it’s a different bike all together - Super fast .
                          5. Millage of Ninja 300 that I am getting in city is around 25km/l, tested it on both normal and premium shell petrol and got almost same average. I used my trusted 'full tank' method to check the average. Cannot comment on highway average, as I have not taken it to highway for long ride till now.
                          6. Designed in a way that heat dissipated from engine is routed to the bottom, I did not feel the heat even after riding the bike in traffic for an hour (I took it to nana peth, you can understand the traffic condition: P)
                          7. Riding seat is comfortable but my friends complained about pillion seat (I don’t have much experience of pillion seat as I do not allow anyone to ride my bike for long distance ) , got the rider seat and pillion seat modified to add some extra foam and increased the width of pillion seat.
                          8. I would say normal maintenance is not very costly as it costs around 4.5k km and done every 6k kms. Oil change is done every 12k kms. (These days generally servicing of any normal 150cc bike also costs around 12-1500 and it’s done every 2000 kms) however parts are very costly.

Now the most important point – Safety Gears and Insurance.

I did not use my bike much till I got Zero Depreciation insurance and all my Riding gears. For riding gears I followed the general rule, spend at-least around 10% of Bike's cost . I had some decent riding gears earlier as well but now as I have upgraded to a more powerful machine so safety gears upgrade was also due.
                          1. Insurance – Zero Dep. from Bajaj Allianz, it has additional clause of Engine protection as well, always go for Zero depreciation insurance if it is available in your area because it costs Rs. 2-3k more than the comprehensive insurance but trust me even a small part of Ninja 300 can set you back by way more than Rs.3000.
                          2. Helmet: LS2 Modular helmet, cost Rs. 5500.
                          3. Gloves: Aspida Ares Full Gauntlet Leather Gloves, cost 3825.
                          4. Jacket: Aspida Nemesis - comes with Sas-tec protection, cost 7000.
                          5. Knee Guard: Aspida Bionic External Knee guard with CE Level 1 protection – 3500.

Please note that I did a lot of research before buying all these stuffs, for that I followed Xbhp riding gears thread so please do your research before buying any riding gear and buy as per your budget and requirements. I would suggest going to shop and try all the short-listed gears and buy the one which fits you perfectly because even the best protection will not protect you if it’s a loose fit.

Edit : Link to my review of gloves and knee guard, check page 1453 for review of jacket.

Things to look after if you are buying a 2nd hand bike like Ninja –

                          1. If you are buying such an expansive bike then try to get a bike which is not very old, under 2-3 years old bike is your best bet until and unless you are buying it from someone known and you are very much sure that bike was kept in good condition.
                          2. Always calculate the cost of ownership as well, it is very easy to buy an expansive bike in excitement but difficult part is the maintenance. I learned this the hard way when I bought 2nd hand Optra magnum 4 years back (I had just 2 years of job experience at that time so the package was not at par to maintain an Optra magnum) and used to spend almost 1/3 of my annual package on it’s maintenance yearly.
                          3. Check the service history for any major damage, a minor fall should not be a problem because these Japanese bikes are very robust machine and don’t get ruined very easily.
                          4. Check for the condition of consumables like Clutch, Chain-sprocket, Disk, tires etc. These are easily replaceable parts but you would not like to spend 10-15k right after purchasing such a costly bike. Try to look for a bike which does not need replacement of these parts for at-least next 7-8k km or 1year.

One last thing, I would like to join any Pune based riding group for weekend rides so please let me know the name of such groups and how can I join them.

That’s it for this part, do let me if you have any suggestion or want me to make any correction and feel free to contact me for any query, ride safe

thumbs up !!!! that was a neat and detailed write up. Appreciate your efforts to share. I am recent owner of N300 and would like to know how did you carry out your run in. Mine is 450 kms on ODO right now, but, i am so restless and cant wait the moment i can take north of 7k RPM. Waiting like a doggie, infact, which is waiting for her Owner to a give a 'GO', to grab the bone that's in front for her.

I completed the first service last week. Actually during breakin, i didnt follow the procedure as per manual. I maintained 4k rpm till 500 kms. Then till 1000 kms i maintained till 6k rpm. The first service cost me 3700 rs. Oil filter and oil was replaced. The service center made use of Motul 10w40. I also did teflon wash for 600 rs.

Till first service i never crossed 6k rpm and was very eager to cross this limit to get the feel of the bike. After first i am mintaining 8k now.

Just got bak from 300 km trip thru ecr. Its a single lane road. Onward journey was good. But the sheer acceleration after 6k, which i wanted to feel was really good. But, it sends a shiver thru my bones. This is manic, my heart is racing. Now iam really scared to at such speeds. Iam constantly thinking, what if a mistake happens, like a dog crosses the road or cow starts intercepting? I do have all the gears, the bike is just doing 115 kmph. But the acceleratiob is insane. While returning, fears got much more. The sunlight faded, i was scared to accelerate.

Is this fear due to first experience with accelaration? Will it go away once i get used to it? Cant beleive i have 5k more rpms left in odo. Now i do see what a twin cylinder can do. The helmet gets pushed and tightens the cheeks, the jacket gets thrust to the chest, whoa !!!!. Msssive respect to the guys who do racing. Motogp, WSBK, etc.., have you guys this scary felling? How did deal with it?

You'll get used to it buddy! Give your mind and body time to adjusts itself to the higher power and dynamics bar of the bike.
