My bike tipped over whilst badly parked on last weekend's ride to Panchgini. Suffered a bent frame slider and some minor scratches on the exhaust heat guard. I strongly recommend owners to install the frame sliders without which this incident could have turned out to be expensive. I got the frame slider straightened at the SVC for Rs.285/-.

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive but the wait is killing
Hey guys, need an urgent help.!
I am taking the delivery tomorrow from Mumbai KTM. The dealer wants me to pay 3000 as RTO charges. As per him, since my passport has an address outside of Mumbai and not same as my rental address, I will have to pay these charges. Basically the agent will bribe the RTO with these 3000 for my registration. I am not sure if this is a usual practice in Mumbai. Only alternate as per the dealer is to visit the RTO directly myself and get my registration done myself!. This is not possible due to weekday problems! Any advice?
Thanks

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive but the wait is killing
[QUOTE=k2181;1076220]I use the Ninja 300 for daily commute. I ride about 40 kms to and fro. It's not bad driving in traffic. In fact, I think it was much better than my R15. One pain point with the bike is the seat. for the distance I drive, I end up with a niggling pain in the tail bone pretty much all the time. It has not yet bothered me enough to stop using the bike for commute daily. But the pain isn't fun man! I know you can fix the seat but I have not found the time to do this yet.Originally posted by shehbaaz View PostThanks a ton bro. I went through the video. They do say that it is comfortable for the passenger rider so it is a plus point. But suggest it is a pain to drive in the traffic, which is a bit bothersome considering Bangalore traffic. Do any of the current owners ride it as daily commute? please advise

5500 for those pair is quite expensive. Last week inquired about stock tires for my D200 which are 110/70 front and 150/60 rear. I was quoted 4500 with fitting. Did not ask about the warranty though.Originally posted by akshay View PostFinally I decided on the MRF REV Z soft compound tyres. I am impressed with the build quality of these tyres and the price which cost me Rs.5500/- for a pair. The sizes I installed are Front - 110/70-17, Rear - 140/60-17. Warranty is 2 years.
So in comparison yours should be even cheaper, right??
BTW from where did you buy them in Pune.

Only if your rent agreement is registered(stamp duty and registration fees paid with the department of stamps ) and you have a PVR(police verification report). If not then you'd have to grease some palms. This is pathetic I know, but this how it is.Originally posted by rohit.dhawan View PostSave yourself the hassle, get a copy of current residence proof and save 3000. What remains is the quantum of bribe. When I had to do it, was 2.5 K. May be they have adjusted it for inflation now
To be honest, if you have a PVR done at the time of agreement , and the agreement is not registered, then you can have the agreement registered now. The registration fees plus stamp duty would cost you around 15k for a 10 k rental(approx). You'll have to approach the ofc to know the exact duty and fees.
The PVR is important, because if it was not done, then if you approach the area police station after say 3-4 months then the Police would site the fact that it's too late: meaning more palm greasing. Not that they'd have done it without anything even if you had gone in time, just that the amount increases as time passes. It's like some kind of compounding concept they use. Who knows they have a proper calculating software installed somewhere
Typically the stamp paper used for rental agreements is a mere Rs 100 denomination which is always way less than the actual stamp duty of a rental agreement(at least in Mumbai, given the sky high rents)
You can pay the fees online after creating an account here :
After you pay the fees, you'd have to visit the nearest registration office with your flat owner and 2 witnesses to get it registered.
An FAQ which migfht help you to wrap your head around the entire stuff :
Stamp Duty FAQ , IGR, Pune (RISS / SARITA - II)
Now if your stamp duty and registration fees is almost the same as the bribe, then the decision is yours
PS: typically when the agent quotes some amount for bribing , he has a cut too, meaning the entire 3k won't go in bribing.
So may be you'd want to visit the RTO and haggle with him a bit and may be other agents too.
Though taking time out ,visiting an RTO, speaking to multiple agents etc is really taxing. Since you have bought a Ninja costing 4+ lacs, suggesting you are not the stingy types, I bet you'd end up paying the 3k for avoiding mental and physical harassment

Please avoid the registration of Stamp duty. Go to the post office near your home, get a proof of residence issued from them. Takes Rs 15 and a week max.
For a rent agreement which is of 11 months you do not have to have it registered, as per Indian laws. It just has to be on a Rs 50 stamp paper.
Also, if you go to the court and take you landline bill and get an affidavit for proof of residence Cost Rs 200 (Includes typing signing etc etc). This when attached with you application will go.
I just bought a GT250R in Chennai. My total extra cost was Rs 1200 including all documentation including 2 day rounds to the court and hand it over to the showroom guys to complete the rest of the registration details.
It all comes down to you convenience and principals.Using Tapatalk

I get what you are saying. You are making a distinction between a lease agreement and a leave and license agreement .The 11 month agreement is usually a leave and license agreement which doesn't need registration because there is no transfer of rights/property etc.Originally posted by rohit.dhawan View PostPlease avoid the registration of Stamp duty. May be the practice of granting license was started to avoid stamp duty and registration charges. I get it.
But fact is, the RTO either doesn't accept a leave and license agreement(may be unlawful in itself this!!) or it doesn't know the distinction.
Either way, I am quite sure a proof from post office won't do here in Mumbai.
There are some affidavits certified from a magistarte which are admissible if you don't have a residential proof(acc motor vehicle act), but even in that case the RTO officials would demand a bribe. The leave and license agreement is usually not accepted as is, unless accompanied by a bribe. A lease agreement and a PVR should do without a bribe.
Now I think you can confront the official with the info that leave and license won't require a registration in the first place and hope to make him understand, but such is the rot here that he won't listen unless it comes through an agent and the assorted 'mithai'

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive but the wait is killing
Guys, i have almost zeroed on the N300.. one thing i wanted to check, what was the odometer reading when you guys got yours. The ones in the showroom currently have 35kms as reading..i believe any new bike i get will have the same as they need to transport physically from the warehouse. Apparently Ninjas don't get transported in trucks.. i think 35 is fine but wanted to get thoughts from the seniors. Please advise
