Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
I agree with Krishna. Longetivity of the spares depends on the type and frequency of use. I use CBR for daily commute to office apart from weekend rides and tours. Have covered 20,800 kms in 21 months. I can do so becoz I know maintainance is not expensive. But with N300, I will have to buy an alternate vehicle for commuting to office and other errands, using Ninja for the weekends and tours.Originally posted by krish2778 View Post

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
I got my baby back a week before. But I have to break-in again. They changed a lots of parts. I stressed again and again for the list of parts they changed, but they disclosed none.Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostThere is something more to this than just insufficient quantity of oil being filled in. What you are saying is during second service oil removed was 650 ml whereas the amount of oil should have been 2.2 liters with the oil filter. That's like saying someone put only 1 liter of oil in your bike of which 250 ml was consumed/ evaporated. This is highly unlikely. The most common mistake that I can think of is to fill only 2 litres instead of 2.2 as the oil is available in units of 1 liter. The deficit of 200 ml while not good for the long term health of your bike, is not critically fatal in the immediate terms.
Over here I would also put at least some of the responsibility on the second service centre. Alarm bells should have rung and a deeper investigation should have been carried out the moment it was noticed that only 650 ml of oil was drained out. Instead they just filled the requisite quantity of oil and sent you on your way.
What I am trying to say is that the bearing failure is just a symptom, the cause may not be filling insufficient amount of oil. The cause may still be inside the engine. It needs to be stripped down and every component needs to be examined before moving any further.
The engine feels again like new, too rough. They asked me to follow the same procedure like that of a new engine, and for an oil change after 1K KMS. So far I am not revving it hard. Done 100 KMS, varying RPM, occasional burst to 8K and let it engine break, etc.
Should I change oil before 1K ?? Any suggestions please ??

Wouldn't buying and maintaining another vehicle be more expensive than the routine maintenance cost of Ninja. No offence. I have also booked my Ninja 300 and I will be getting delivery this weekend.
I too had this doubt as to maintenance cost, but then even a decent 150 would cost atleast 65000, plus maintenance cost of around 5-6k a year with additional fuel costs.
If I do the math, its easier to maintain just the Ninja.
Guys, this bearing issue and engine seizures in Ninja has got me worried. My sole reason for getting Ninja was because I wanted premium quality plus bulletproof reliability which Ninja 250 was.
Is the story different for Ninja 300?

What bearing and engine seizures issues? There are no manufacturing or design defects that lead to such issues. If there are any individual cases they are based on their own individual circumstances, it has nothing to do with any product defects.Originally posted by chinmayakar View PostGuys, this bearing issue and engine seizures in Ninja has got me worried. Thanks, thats encouraging. Do you recommend changing the oil and filter as soon as I get the bike, or stick to factory regime of oil change and oil grade making sure they pour the right quantity.

Maintainance of other vehicles, supposedly a commuter will b less cheaper. Its not only the fuel and oil replacement to be done but other consumables as well. I got my CBR's chain and sprockets changed for 2500 bucks including labour. Whereas for Ninja it should cost around 15k( I think). Please correct me if I am wrong. Also, if using N300 for daily commute, the tyres will have to be changed soon enough(a pair of Ninja spec Michelins cost 10k in Delhi) whereas the mrfs of a commuter will easily see 20k mileage on them. Thats the reason I said Ninja can be a second weekend /tour bike.

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
Green Mist is finally here. Got the bike delivered last Thursday after booking on Friday before that. In short got him in 1 week of booking. I am running in the bike now, and its a pain to stay below 4000 rpm. Also, quite unsafe. Straight out of the showroom there was a metallic noise from behind, as suspected it was chain noise. SVC guys adjusted and lubed the chain and the noise has subsided however, faint noise is there. Ownership report to come soon.

LOL!!!! That 390 story is epic. Vashi Showroom Manager Mr. Negi is like a friend. I had asked him to ready a Black colour D390 and I would come in the evening and collect it. He stuck to his words and he kept the bike ready in the evening.
However, fortunately or unfortunately I took a wrong card to make the payment for the D390. He swiped my card and it failed. My friends took me to the side and said this was a sign that I should not buy a 390. I walked out of the showroom in the pretext of getting another card and went back only last Friday to book my Ninja. Rest is history...

Hey!!!!Yes, you are right. But the running in is killing me. I feel Ninja does not like being shifted at 4000 rpm. He wants me to shift late..

Thanks buddy!! 1 week into ownership and I am getting some noise from the chain. Kawasaki svc guys in Seawoods have been helpful with that. However the noise is still there. Other Ninja owners please let me know if the noise from chain is fine.
If not please suggest a good garage svc or garage to get it fixed.
