Guys, off late I have been facing a lot of cold starting issues. The bike will take in the crank but will not start up. It fires up when I give some throttle input, but dies as soon as I remove it.

Doesn't happen after running the motorcycle for a few mins and incase I turn it off near a traffic stop, it fires up in a single crank.

Try reflashing the ECU firmware. It will mostly solve the issue.

Check the battery charge and life. Ensure that the idle screw is adjusted properly so that the bike idles at around 1400 rpm. Hope this helps

Battery seems good. I took the idle RPM to 1500. Now when it cranks up it barely stays at 1000 and after a min or so, goes upto 1500.

Guess I have to change fuel and get those sparkplugs a check too.

Hi all. So I have got a Suzuki GSX-150/F (Gixxer SF) which I got in October, 2016 and rode it close to 12,000 kms. I have recently decided to upgrade to a twin from the GSX, and have shortlisted the Ninja 300 and R3 in this segment. Initially, the Ninja 300 was my first choice, but I am a bit scared to go with the Ninja for the following reason I posted at https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcy...ml#post1348471 . So I have the following queries from anyone who has sound knowledge with how Kawasaki works in India.

            a) The Ninja 300 has been internationally discontinued in favour of the Ninja 400 in an effort to increase its compliance with Euro IV, so given there are no (and never will be) International Euro VI (BS-6) compliant Ninja 300 models, it is safe to assume the Ninja 300 might get discontinued in India when the mandate of BS-6 transition if due in April, 2020 which raises a bigger concern about spare parts availability, as to some people, the current drop in prices is just an international stock clearance exercise in disguise of "Part Localisation". This shady nature of Kawasaki might make it a risky investment to people like me at this point, as I don't want to get stranded and go through a trauma of parts unavailability once it gets permanently discontinued for being unable to upgrade to BS-6. I am not a person who is ready to go searching through Ebay / Aliexpress and fanatically calling other dealers across the country to procure parts.

            b) How is the spare parts availability for the Ninja 300 in India as compared to the R3?, because Yamaha has a much better presence across the country. In Metro cities like I am from, we just have one Kawasaki outlet / service centre, in contrast to 5-6 Yamaha dealerships and SVC that we have here. Is there a decent chance one might get stranded in Spare Sparts crisis with the Ninja 300 which for me would be a horrific experience as this is a significant investment.

            c) How is the maintenance cost of the Ninja 300 as opposed to the R3?

These concerns are one of the reasons I have decided to pay the premium of almost 60k for the R3 to have a peace of mind over the Ninja 300, even though as a bike the Ninja 300 remains my ultimate choice. Any advice, and support from any one on this matter would be really helpful.

Since I owned a Yamaha for a few years in the same city as you are, I can tell you that parts availability for Yamaha is no big deal. Firstly, Yamaha customer care is pretty good in sorting out issues at the earliest. Secondly, apart from the dealer service centres, we have several standalone spare parts shop in the city to help us out with parts availability. Moreover R3 is an international model which will have a slight makeover in 2019 probably. Hence parts availability wont be an issue at all.

I have been having this issue for quite a while now. Haven't tried reflashing the ecu yet.

Mine got sorted for now post a generous dose of Adon P.

                  - Filled up the tank
                  - Added 30ml of Adon P to it
                  - Raised the idle RPM to 1500

Haven't faced the issue anymore, but kept it still under observation. Have brought down the RPM to 1200 after a week.

I think it's an issue of fuel injectors getting clogged. With the recent rains and mosture coming in, I presume that might be the issue. But don't quote me on it [emoji39].

Will keep the updates posted here.

Also planning to rip off the USB charger for the phone too. Acting like a parasitic resistance for the battery as the cranking is always a tad bit weak for the first start. Sorts itself out once engine is warmed up and running.

Just a suggestion. Avoid using fuel with additives like Power and Speed from the pump. It leaves a gummy residue on the injectors which gets formed over a period of time and then leads to problems like starting and misfiring. Normal fuel is good enough.

Yeah. I noticed that now. I was doing a standard fuel till I gave XtraPremium to the tank.

Would stick to standard fuel and additives like Adon P or System G.

Don't use anything. System G gives the same problem.
