Well I got a call on friday and am replacing mine right now. Apparently the ninja has cold start issues at minus 15 degrees and hence the change.

My ECU will be replaced this Tuesday...

But, I do not see the point of it... We never go even remotely close to -15 degrees... lol...

^^^ +1, if the information of starting problem is accurate, then this problem is in no way connected to the stalling issues face by the U.S. versions. This is something different. Will ask the SVC, if I can see service bulletin from the company. That should have more information on the reasons for the replacement.

Please let us know what it is all about. I got my bike a week back, but it was manufactured in july, so not sure if i would need a replacement too.

Just got a call from KTM Indiranagar Bangalore that this Sunday they are holding one Ninja 300 event and they would be changing the ECU unit for the owners.
Did anyone else from Bangalore also got the same confirmation or call ?
Was just in time for my second service and my front brake pad got worn out. Gave the bike today for service and also for the brake pad replacement. Rear brake pad can last another 2K KM's.
One note about the IndiraNagar service for KTM and Ninja owners: "Superb".
The kind of attention and importance they give to you and note down the minute issues and fix them is totally heart warming.

I called the Seawoods SVC, Navi Mumbai, for more details on the said recall. I had a good discussion with Tushar. Apparently, the problem is related to cold starts when the ambient temperatures are low in the region of 15 to 16 degrees or less (not -16 degrees). There is nothing wrong with the ECU hardware, it basically a refinement of the fuel maps. However, since the re-flashing and writing of the new maps is critical process, the complete ECU is being replaced with a view of expediency and convenience (there are not more than 300 bikes in which it is to be replaced).

I will still verify the same when I get hold of the service bulletin when I visit the SVC for my bike's replacement.

Hey Abhimanyu. Do let us know about the time it takes to change the unit and hassles if any. Just got another call from bajaj guys now and they are saying that they might push it a week back for here

The process should take around 10 to 15 mins max. They take out the front seat, unplug the old ecu, plug in the new one, attach the seat back and you're set to go.
