RootedCosmopolitan : HAR HAR HAR! but ofcourse! i cant even wear my riding shoes w/o the consent of 'home minister'
come to think of it, the mumbai > blr for her is just about ~14 hrs
i've done it on my 'captain slow' avenger200 in 19hrs years ago - guess the road condition today will be far better than what it was some 5 yrs back.
the n650 will prolly eat-up that distance for breakfast & wont even burp!
as for the Blr trip... i am just waiting for the rains to get over... god knows where all will i ride her then...

pixantz: oh yeah!

Manna Chowdhury: dunno abt blr but u can order it online over performance racing website - they sell it for 5k - delivered in a weeks time.
the guard keeps out the flying debris from hitting the frail aluminum radiator fins but there is precious lil one can do on the muddy water & slush hitting the radiators thru the guard mesh anyway.
remember to clean the radiators well before u put this one on tho & also keep taking this off & cleaning up say every 500kms of ur ride in rains.
in dry, this may safely stay on for longer.
i've been riding mine in wet n slush & everytime i've come back, i have put my old tooth brush, the wurth / motul de-greaser & a mug-full of mild car-shampoo to good use carrying out a task that i call 'brushing the ninja teeth' a.k.a. cleaning out the radiator!
its painful on my tired old spine & lumbar back muscles -

Hello Friends

I currently own KTM Duke 200 and now looking to take Ninja 300 also since Duke is not comfortable for longer rides.

I have a few doubts. Please clarify these for me to take a decision.

1. Is anyone using unleaded petrol or only premium is to be used. Bajaj recommends premium though the manual recommends unleaded. bajaj itself is unclear in questioned in detail. For longer rides premium fuel availability will be a issue.
2. How is the rideability in city. I may not use much in city coz will be having Duke also and it is the best inside city. Still I would like to know.
3. How about the riding posture. i am 5ft 6inches tall. Will it have much strain on back during longer rides or is it not that straining.

Hope to receive your advise and suggestions.

1. I use BP Speed and its absolutely fine.
2. It superb. Just perfect in size and power.
3. I too am 5ft 6inches. I don't feel any discomfort. In the beginning the seat may seem hard. After a few days it brakes in nicely.

Thx for the immediate reply.

Is it ok to use unleaded in Ninja 300. We have a issue of availability of premium fuel outside Chennai.

In my last long ride in my Duke, I had issue finding speed petrol.

Yes, as long as the fuel is fresh.

@whymail hw u clean the radiator part, means it tough to reach the radiator part to clean and its too much of hard work (any shortcut for it ).
So I've to use tooth brush, motul de-greaser and car shampoo to do the cleaning task?

Good choice mate! These are one of the best frame sliders since the surface area is much more and in case of a minor fall will protect the fairing very well

P.S: I've got the same frame sliders installed on my Ninja

I am using normal fuel and I had not faced any Knocking so far. Ninja 300 is completely different engine from ninja 250r designed with a very low compression ratio, in fact a compression ratio even less than CBR 250r!!(Ninja300 - 10.6, CBR 250R - 10.7, Ninja 250r - 11.6) So Premium fuel in Ninja300 would be just a waste of money, which you can save and invest in some better upgrades for your ninjette

So finally crossed 1,000 kms. Called up Service Station at Navi Mumbai for an appointment for my first service. Tushar, who manages the Service Center was very helpful, wanted me to coming the very next day, however, since it was a working day I requested an appointment for Saturday and he agreed immediately. Saturday turned out to be a relatively dry day luckily and though I had an appointment for 11.00 am I was held up due to some work and reached the SVC only by 1.00 pm.

Tushar took in the bike without any fuss and drama (though I apologised for my laggardness, my bad ). What a refreshing change this SVC is compared to the Yamaha Factory Shop at Malad (though its closed down now) . The bike was washed before being put on to the service station. Again at the point of sounding like a broken record, I would like to say that this is something that I never saw at Yamaha Factory Shop, where bikes were worked on with all the muck and dirt on it. Imaging opening an engine with all the muck on ....

1. Oil and oil filter were changed. The oil looked to be well used and seemed due for a change. Oil was replaced with Motul 7100 that was available with the service center.

2. Coolant was checked and found to be low. Top up took almost 200 ml in the reservoir. Surprisingly Motul Motocool premixed is not used by them. Will be switching over to Engine Ice during my next service.

3. I had pointed out that my front brake was feeling a bit dead and spongy. Muzammil, who assists Tushar, took a test ride before accepting the bike and confirmed my feedback. The front caliper was bled and the brake pads were taken out, examined and the glaze on pads was broken with emery paper.

4. Battery was examined for the state of charge and was found satisfactory.

5. Chain was examined, cleaned and lubricated with Motul cleaner and chain lube. One pointer out here; if you have your own chain lube can, do take the same along for the service.

7.Tyre pressure was checked and found to be ok.

The bike in now well run in and very smooth.

Met couple of interesting gentlemen over there. One who owns a Ninja 250R on which he has clocked over 65,000 kms. It was really nice to sit down exchange notes with a really long term owner of the bike.
