Seems like the brakes wear out pretty quick on the N300. Any owners who could reach atleast 7500 kms without changing brake pads? Seems weird they wear out so quick. My 5 yr old pulsar 200 has done 34000km and i have not changed the front disc pad ever :P

Eerrr... Do you even use your Pulsar front brake?Originally posted by surajpatil007 View PostSeems like the brakes wear out pretty quick on the N300. I would rather have worn out brake pads that I need to replace frequently than worry about how long they will last and not have optimum braking power. Ninja make far more power than a pulsar and thereby having greater rate of acceleration and speeds, thus requiring more braking force to bring speeds down and achieve a faster rate of deceleration. Which in turn means that there is more friction between brake pads and disc, which in turn means more brake pad wear.
If as you claim your brake pads have lasted 34k kms, then it can be safely said that you are not using much of your front brake. On a bike 75 to 80% of a bike's braking power is in the front brake/s (my riding style puts as much as 90% usage on the front brake). You are not using your bike's full braking potential.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

It will take 2.2 liters of oil at every service with an oil filter change. If the oil filter is not to be changed then it will take 2 liters.Originally posted by GT007 View PostReposting

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
I am not doubting your views here mate, but braking is a combo of front and rear brakes, how a person downshifts - engine braking and understanding when to let go the throttle and understanding the speed one is doing. As quoted earlier, if P200's front brake has gone to 34K kms without replacement and if the rider hasn't met with any accidents owing to bad braking then I must say, they last long.Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostEerrr... For other matter, YES, Ninja 300 makes twice the amount of power as the P200 makes and that does make it a bit more harsh on the brakes. How long it lasts depends on the rider's talent or otherwise if there is some defect(which is highly unlikely at such a huge production number).Regards,

I too use 90% front brakes. im no noob in riding :P . My rear drum brakes are totally ineffective on my P200 anyways.Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostEerrr... Do you even use your Pulsar front brake?

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
Yeah, i do use a lot of engine braking. And yeah, just 1 minor accident which happened around 3 years back. Even i am astonished as to how my front pads are still good. Anyways, my P200's starter motor assembly broke itself apart today(Broken gear teeth and stuff)Originally posted by Akash.Yadav View PostI am not doubting your views here mate, but braking is a combo of front and rear brakes, how a person downshifts - engine braking and understanding when to let go the throttle and understanding the speed one is doing. . Anyways, coming back to the N300, hoping to get good mileage on the pads there too. Cant wait for next saturday to have my bike

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
^^^ since you are talking about so called 'engine braking'; a few fellow N300 riders have commented on how the bike does not have the characteristic back torque effect (so called engine braking). It is not completely gone but its very very subdued. This is due to the slipper clutch. Personally, to me it feels no different than down shifting on a two stroke. That may also be one of the reasons why people are having to a lot more of the brakes. They probably need to reset them selves for less pronounced back torque. According to me the pads should last about 6,000 to 7,000 kms with moderate use.

Yeah, engine braking seems to be less pronounced on this bike looking at a few user reviews and based on a quick ride i took. I too feel 6000 to 7000 kms should be good on the padsOriginally posted by abhimanyu31 View Post^^^ since you are talking about so called 'engine braking'; a few fellow N300 riders have commented on how the bike does not have the characteristic back torque effect (so called engine braking). The SVC uses Motul 7100. It's a good oil and I personally don't see the need right now to use 300VOriginally posted by GT007 View PostThank you. What engine oil are you using? Motul 300v?

Re: 2013 kawasaki ninja 300 - rush is addictive
Aha. So N300 does make a good step to make yourself a better rider and with that slipper clutch, if reduces the back torque characteristics, then it must be a heaven to ride without having any kind of jerky movements while downshifting. Again, this makes one a better judge of speed and brake application. Baby Jesus Ninja always does it different
