Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
riazmomin, I too have a doubt. If the problem is with stuck rear break lever, how did hitting the calipers freed the bite of the disc pads? Just need some clarification here.Originally posted by psr View PostDo you mean that the brake lever was stuck ? on a new bike ?....and it is now adjusted and rear braking is ok ?
Your post is a little confusing since you have said " The brake was not working Perfectly " after the Mech had attended to it....

Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
Brake lever did not had proper play. Once I left from the place where we met. The brakes for jammed again at Jubilee hills area. This time i gently hit caliper only couple of times and after 10mins it rear wheel was free again. May be hitting lead to vibrations that led to jerks to the lever connection.
I am not sure about this theory, but at the end. Loosening the brake lever solved the issue. Did 40kms till now no issues.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme

Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
A brake lever never gets stuck on a new bike...imagine you are doing a tour , there is every chance of the bike to pick up dust and grime, through the terrain leading to rear brake jamming...it is unheard of...a jammed brake lever cannot be freed by tapping on the caliper housing...I feel your bike's floating caliper studs were not lubricated and hence got stuck...did you see the mech correct the problem in front of your eyes...You must learn from the mech, the lube points for rear brake, so that you don't get stranded on the road with a jammed brake in future..Originally posted by riazmomin View PostSorry, that was a typo. I meant NOW instead of NOT.
Brake lever was probably struck because of the wash i have done earlier in the morning and there was quite a lot fine sand near the rear suspension which might have creeped into brake lever joint.
I rode for 15kms after that. No problem now. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Yep, I was with mechanic when he loosened the brake lever a bit. He told me to check and take a test ride.Originally posted by psr View PostA brake lever never gets stuck on a new bike...imagine you are doing a tour , there is every chance of the bike to pick up dust and grime, through the terrain leading to rear brake jamming...it is unheard of...a jammed brake lever cannot be freed by tapping on the caliper housing...I feel your bike's floating caliper studs were not lubricated and hence got stuck...did you see the mech correct the problem in front of your eyes...You must learn from the mech, the lube points for rear brake, so that you don't get stranded on the road with a jammed brake in future..
Even I had doubt of improper lubing of the caliper studs (already had experience of it), but the bikes running perfectly since I bought on Monday and this happened today only that after I rode 18 kms from my home. 390 accumulates lots slush and sand near rear suspension and I washed it in the morning, this was my doubt. And it was lying idle for 3-4 days. Another reason could be it was over-tightened during PDI itself (but I must had the issue since the beginning).
Anyhow it turned out to be a simple thing at the end, I will get it checked during the first service and hope that doesn't arise again.

Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
I guess you are referring to the brake master cylinder link adjuster..if it is set without play, brake will be slightly engaged, like in your case and cause the pads to wear per-maturely...red arrow indicates the adjusterOriginally posted by riazmomin View PostYep, I was with mechanic when he loosened the brake lever a bit. Re: KTM 390 - The original Hooligan - Ownership Thread
Went on a 100+ kms ride with fellow 390 guy today. His tyres were sticky enough to throw the dirt at me if I was following closely behind ..
He was told that his bike had the heating issue corrected but he still complained about the heat
Btw. The power and handling is very tempting

I got mine delivered on 4th Sep from Kharagpur, W.B. I havent received any such call from the dealer yet yet. Can you tell me the manufacturing month for your bike? That I guess will make it clear whether I have to go for the change or notwww.teamrollers.com

Did your bikes came with front mudflap? I came to know that latest deliveries will be coming with mudflap and existing owners will get during their service or when they have in stock as standard fitment.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme
