Nope. You will only load the charging circuit without a reason. You only need a 9Ah battery if you have a self starter, else its pointless.
The RTR ignition can easily run with a good 2.5Ah battery. I have done that myself. Check if your battery is in good shape.

Well, since the RTR CDI changeover, the bikes battery discharges over night. And to be frank the battery wasnt in gr8 shape either. Let me talk to Rajesh and see.

Thats coz the live wire to the CDI was not routed via the ignition cut-off switch. So while the engine is off, the battery is still being consumed. Thats no fault of the CDI or coil.

I too was wondering if the above was the actual reason. Now you have confirmed it. So the rerouting thru ignition cut-off switch can be done right ?

Yup. Just pass the live wire through the ignition switch.

Man it was really good to read this thread. I got a 2001 Silver Fiero. It was my first geared bike, had a scooty before that, so the Fiero was a dream come true. She is still a brute. Picked up the bike on Sept 11, 2001.

Just one more point, she has got the smoothest gear shift till date.

I bought My Brand New Suzuki Fiero Bike(Black Colour) at 2002 February.I had the bike till august 2008.around 6.5 years.this bike keeps going on and on even with less maintanence,long oil change intervals etc.I still remember it's owners manual advising to speed the bike at 36kmph at top gear during running-in(weird!). ROFL!

This bike was simply great.It offered power as well as Mileage(40-45kmpl) too.

Hi Folks,
I own a 2001 Fiero bought in July 2001. Now in 2009, after more than Eight Years of riding in all sorts of terrains… hills, plains, mountains, rain, snow & sand… my bike still stands proud and takes to the streets with a true lion heart. The only parts I have changed till date (only this year) is a set of shockers, clutch plates and rear tyres. It still starts with a single kick. What a bike… worth every dime spent. The pick-up is amazing. Power is awesome. Performance is peak. It glides like a Cheetah for hours at top speed on the highway. I have attained a top speed of 115 km/h. People are amazed that I have never opened up the engine even after so many years. This marvel of a bike has never let me down.
Some negative points about this bike:

1. The engine leaks somewhat and the engine is always smeared in oil turned black with dust.
2. Mileage is somewhat less these days with only 35 – 37 km/liter.
3. Headlight is dim these days (can anyone suggest me a better bulb or how to attain brightness)
4. Pick-up is slightly less now … how do I attain peak pick-up?
5. The oil tank cover faces rusting issues and is quite difficult to open.

This bike has more positive points than negative… I guess these little problems are faced by any bike rider and are not such serious issues.
I am very much satisfied with the bike… I am going to get a new paint job done soon to give it a face lift as the black Fiero looks quite dull these days.

What’s the price of an original Carburetor and Ring and Ring Piston these days? Is it possible to install a set of RTR gas shocks? Can anybody recommend me a better brighter bulb for the headlights?

hi guys,
wanted a fiero badly 2 years back and wasnt getting a good one...so ended up with a rtr 160 since it was a company modded fiero :P.but finally i managed to buy a fiero for my girl friend.she has upgraded from a scooty to a fiero last week and did her first 100kms ride the very next day.long live the fiero

One silly question

Since the production of the suzuki fiero had ceased long ago,spare parts hunting has become a headache for fiero owners.My question is-
Can the spares of the rtr(read-engine part such as the cylinder,piston,crank,clutch parts etc etc.......)be successfully used on a fiero.

.
The thing is my cousin brother has a 2001 suzuki fiero(run only 15000km)

at coimbatore kept in good condition,and am half inclined in buying it

my Fiero F2 is more than 6yrs old, and it is nearing its 80k mark!!! Wow wat a bike it is.... have done n no. of long trips. i ride it every day to college and back, a total dist of 60kms each day. milage is pretty good somewhere between 48 - 52. once i remember it had given me a avg of 58kms (city + highway). just recentl i changed the oil seal (black colour seal circular in shape near the head). No other major issues with the bike.

but the only problem is with the chain. it needs regular oiling and servicing. i guess its a common issue with all fieros. changed my rear tyre twice. currently using the apaches rear. done more than 35k with it. front tyres are original ones.

many say theres a need of a fifth gear. but i dont think its really neede. since it does a top whack of 110kms torque is excellent. i really love my bike. dont want to sell it.

since its out of production there is a little worry about the spare parts. but my authorised service center has assured me theres nothin to worry. parts will be available for the next 5 yrs atleast.

Can someone from Mumbai please help me with a GOOD mechanic regarding Fiero engine. My engine is getting heated up quite quickly these days & also when the bike reaches 80kmph it vibrates a lot which was not there before.

Also the engine is drinking oil because after every 1000kms I check the oil level & it is reduced to some 500-600ml only.Can someone please let me know what the issue is?? I have already changed the valves & valves o-rings but it did not solve the problem
