    • To calculate the displacement of a cylinder:-

      Volume of a Cylinder = pi *( radius*radius) * height

      Radius=bore/2

      height=stroke

      pi (π)=3.1415926535 ...

      Example:- Karizma's and zmr's bore size = 65.5mm
      and
      FIERO/F2/FX/A150's/RTR180
      stroke=57.8mm

      radius = 65.5/2 = 32.75

      height = 57.8

      So 3.1415926535*(32.75*32.75)*57.8
      = 194760.248390
      To get the cc divide the result by 1000
      So =194760.248390/1000
      cc = 194.760

        I will check the spark plug ... The last time I had the roadside mech check it (several weeks back) the mech said that the plug was smeared in some oil ... I wonder what that means ... he said it means it indicates "Time for a Piston change" ... something I had just done.

        Funny thing is that the engine sometimes feels very smooth and responsive and sometimes it is rough and moody and refuses to respond to the commands.
        Do the same thing as suggested to sarvajit in one of my previous post.

        "How much has the engine done?Anyway to be on the safer side ,check the plug and if its not oily then there's no need for any concern even if its black in color.
        To rule out further issues,try checking the oil level and then there's the simple method of checking the engine state other than the plug way.I am sure you are aware of it too.In neutral ,keep your palm a couple of inches from the exhaust pipe and rev the engine .If there's any oily soot left on your palm then the engine is in trouble.Meaning a valve train issue or bore issue.

        • Thanks guys for your valuable inputs... I'm gonna try them soon.

          • Well the carb issue is sorted out for the moment. I have completed 550 kms... I intend to push it to about 750 kms before going for the services. The bike feels smooth sometimes and rougher sometimes. Gulf Pride seems to be good so far... I checked the oil and the level remains within very safe range. The color too hasn't blackened much... so by the looks it should easily give 4000 kms (10,000 km printed on the bottle - which is a bit too much). I will have the mech sort out the other minor issues.

            Things are pretty quiet here... where is everybody?

              Good to hear that ,though i'd suggest that you should check the silencer to find out whether oil's being drunk.

                nice comment gixxer..

                i am desperately waiting for NEXT WEEKEND to turn my bike into 180cc, so for now i have nothing to share that's new.

                besides i am sick from 4-5 days so didn't even ride my bike from so many days..

                @ chief.

                dude, since you have completed 550 kms, have you got servicing done??
                as you are just out of your run-in get servicing done and replace your oil, no matter how good it is, get it done.
                you can get servicing done now, wait for next 250 kms or so and then push hard, but don't skip servicing now..

                  Yeah i've been feeling a bit under the weather too the last week .So i haven't gotten any things done yet.Yesterday had a chat with Mr Krishnamurthy of ZEN TVS and it looks like i might get a full free flow exhaust installed along with the bigger carb.But the carb hasn't arrived yet ,hopefully it will arrive this week and i am impatient too .So in all likely hood i wont do anything to the stock silencer and instead replace it completely.

                    Thanks for the compliments mate. Had long weekend so had been to Pune to my sister's place. Enjoyed my holidays with my nephew roaming around here & there. Just back & logged on to see whats going on.

                    NANOTech : Dude you can come down next week to covnert your bike to 180cc. Do let me know if you are coming, so that I can plan things accordingly.

                    Had great fun riding. But still need some more power in the lights Yeah I know I know NANOTech I need to install HID for better lighting. Now I am really tempted get them on the bike but will have to wait for couple of months before its done.

                      • Hey guys, this is the condition of my NGK Iridium sparkplug after about 8K kms.of usage. What do you feel about it?
                        The second attachment is the tools I have in my toolkit (totally 5 tools). I got a doubt that something is missing when I found that the sparkplug wrench is missing. Please check&lemme know what is missing so that I can replenish.

                          I hate to say this but when I insert a finger inside the silencer back, I get a sort of sticky black gooey stuff.... I wonder if the piston is to blame or something else, or like gixxer said the bike could be drinking a lot of oil. I need some expert opinions here guys... so that I can drill the mech and get it sorted out. I thought a healthy engine emitted a sort of powdery black exhaust when felt the same way (finger test).

                            Sarvajit. I am not an expert is judging a spark plug ... but even I can see that it looks pretty black... I guess others can give you their expert advice. As for the tool kit, you are lucky to have so many left... I don't even have a single thing left now... I need to purchase the whole kit. It's those damn mech boys who keep on taking things without our knowing... I need to make it a habit of keeping the tool kit at home before servicing.

                              The plug indicates that your engine's in perfect health.Though by the looks of the central electrodes pale complexion ,i'd say its a bit starved.
                              The plug indicates that the engine is running a bit lean.It should be giving good mileage right?
                              The tools you need are spanners of size 8,10,12,13 .Then you'l need a star screw driver,a plug spanner tool and along with it a round rod to fit into the spark plug tool.The flat size 27 tyre removing spanner and its extension is there.

                                The gooey oil in the silencer could be the residue from your previous bore.So ,chief ,please try this out"In neutral ,keep your palm a couple of inches from the exhaust pipe and rev the engine .If there's any oily soot left on your palm then the engine is in trouble.Meaning a valve train issue or bore issue".
                                Powdery black exhaust soot on your palm is a sign indicating a rich mixture ,or a clogged air filter, or the rings are gone and finally it indicates bore issues .
                                Since yours is a new bore kit,try the method i mentioned above ,if you then have black powder (soot)on your palm,then get the carb tuned to a leaner setting and once again try the above method .The best way is to read the plug after every change in any engine related setting.
