A fiero is a rugged and reliable bike and it will last a long time.If it's rebuilt properly then it can keep up with any 160 cc bike and beat some too.Originally posted by rameshmadhavan View PostGuys

Coming to the patrol bike,i am not sure what state they might be in ,as most of the time they are made to lug in gears and not ridden properly.Take a local mech along and let him check the bikes.Maybe then you will have some idea about what needs to be done and whether it's worth it.
The price quoted,8k is a steal, because fieros are selling for 25k plus here in bangalore.Once again as they are patrol bikes, let a mech decide.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

He seems to be a costly mech, because the labor charges are same as charged at showrooms i think.Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostLolz that Shogun sprocket was not exactly shogun's it was TVS XL super's, i think its a mistake from the supplier they have put wrong sticker.

My engine rebuild at the auth service center was 300 Rs including the gaskets.I wonder what he might charge for the same, which is nothing more than a 2 to 3 hour job at most. Most local mechs ask for the bike to be kept with them for 2 days for a engine re-build.So a right knowledgeable mech is needed most of the time to keep the bike in good shape.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

Yeah when i rode your bike,i thought it didn't even need a oil change leave alone so many things. What made you to ask him check the forks?Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostGeez, actually his General service is 200rs but this time he had to take Front forks to Lathe, for truing that's why 50rs extra.

From my experience i've learnt that its a good idea not to complain too much with mechs about minor things unless it's really bad.The mech i trust for most things is a kinda guy who never says something's wrong or never insists on changing things and he's good at diagnosing things too.I keep in touch with a Authorized service center ,a mech who's good at modifications and another mech who i trust .Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

Oil was leaking from the forks, & you remember I showed you the doom which was broken at the side & I told you bike fell, Fork was bent & oil was leaking which is why I decided to open it up & get it rectified, Infact I Insisted on changing the Brake shoes but he said don't waste the money sir, this has just become hard, I will rub them & put it & you can use it for another 500 or 1000kms.Originally posted by gixxer_junkie_m View PostYeah when i rode your bike,i thought it didn't even need a oil change leave alone so many things. Even this mech is not that kinda guy, my cousin lives in Yelahanka & get done things from this guy & this guy himself owns a suzuki fiero 2001 model & he knows in & out of this bike that's why I preferred him for this service.
But now I should look for someone near by, going till Yelahanka for service is very difficult you see.sigpicAll India Permit 1+1

Okay got it,then he seems alright ,it's better to get the bike serviced from the mech who knows its history.Since servicing is done once in a while ,let him handle it.Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostOil was leaking from the forks, & you remember I showed you the doom which was broken at the side & I told you bike fell, Fork was bent & oil was leaking which is why I decided to open it up & get it rectified, Infact I Insisted on changing the Brake shoes but he said don't waste the money sir, this has just become hard, I will rub them & put it & you can use it for another 500 or 1000kms.

how is that possible ????Originally posted by gixxer_junkie_m View PostThe battery is stock kick start model 2.5 amp one. The RTR including the FI one too will start without a battery,it's been tested on RTR/FI thread and i've seen it happen with my friend's apache too.So no issues with regard to starting and i've never faced any till now and nor has my friend.Barring when his apache's plug adapter had water seep into it.
I will let you know about the stator price.
it shouldn't start without the battery as the circuit will remain open...
it needs a battery 100% to close the circuit....
it doesn't have a yellow pole to light the spark plug, and the coil never starts the bike at all....
so its upto the battery to do so.
and what's the cost, did you find out ???Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

Guys
As earlier said my cone set has gone kaput & I need to change them.
Now I need to know how much is cost of Cone set & what will be the labour charges to change it.
I checked with my local mech & he says the original cone set will cost close to 400rs & labour charge for him will be 300rs.
Also I will need Brake shoe replacement for both front & rear, any idea how much will the brake shoe cost ?
PS - In that 300rs he has agreed to change the brake shoes as well as lubricate the Clutch & Front brake cables.sigpicAll India Permit 1+1

Make him grease the coneset before fitting it in, and also adjust the fork nut perfectly. You will definitely feel a great difference in the damping.Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostGuys

If you want to get the entire fork assembly checked/fork oil refilled, you can buy the spares from TVS&take the bike to a fork repair mechanic. That's what I did-they charge very less&do a great job as that is their specialization.
Brake shoes are about Rs.200 for the rear, no idea about front-should be similarly priced.
I think Rs.300 is a steep price, considering lubricating the cables hardly takes a minute or two.
Replacing brake pads is also a 5-10 min.job.
If he doesn't reduce the price, complain of loose chain noise, then ask him to remove chain covers, clean, adjust&lubricate chain also!
It will be like a minor service if you can get him to check all nuts/bolts. Then its worth giving Rs.300!Quench my thirst with gasoline!
