Have you done any modifications to your fiero?

      • The rear tire on my Suzuki Fiero desperately needs a change. I've been riding on the factory fitted tires for a lil over 32000 kms (since 2001).

I was suggested the Sirac (michelin IIRC) for the rear tire. Please let me know if this is a good brand. I only ride in the city. My bike has steel rims which came factory fitted and so i think its best to go for tube type tires since i wont be upgrading to alloys.

P.S. Can i upsize the rear tire for more grip without compromising on handling?

The front tire still looks good and should last another couple of 1000 kms so that wont be seeing a change soon.

Replied to your query in the Tyres thread.
I suggest you change the front also-even if the thread looks good, the rubber will hardly have any life left. Changing it will bring a world of difference-I felt it when I changed both recently.

            • @ gixxer & others

I tried buying in 14t of TVS Centra or Yamaha YBX but couldn't get it, the shopkeeper gave me 14t from Suzuki shogun & he told me this should be a direct fit, i checked it & it was same like fiero's without any holes, any how shopkeeper told me if it doesn't suit I can give it back to him

Now if only anybody of you know that this is suitable to Fiero's front ?

hi, i had one fiero 2001 model, sold it off yesterday for 9000 as it gave me problem each and every time i started it. it was a lovely bike, but we have shortage of original parts here in our state.

Yeah it is the semi-synth one-it felt good-took it to the highway etc.also&roamed a couple of hundred kms.in city too, but the bike (or rather both bikes) have been lying idle in my office basement parking since a few days.

@gixxer_junkie_m: At the next service I will get the camchain changed, I guess that would be after a few months only. Before that if possible I have to go to Koti to get the electricals checked&also get the seat bolt rethreaded.

                  • Guys my bike feels totally different when the weather is cool outside, it is very smooth and revvs nicely, but when the outside temprature rises, I dont feel like riding my bike at all, it feels that rough, any idea why so?

@PSR:- where are you man? I dont see any posts from you.\

                    @saravjit :- is the oil 10W30 or 10W40?

Gixxer is doing a great job on all queries...so I have nothing much to add..till now.
Not just the bikes but the cars also feel smooth and powerful when the outside temperature is low..reasons are :
                      1. A cold air is dense, and hence contains more oxygen ..which gives better combustion and power.(more like a tiny nitro).
                      2. When the engine heats up the moving parts expand and tolerances become minimal..ie.,clearance between bore and piston..this is ok till the temperature is 85 C of engine temperature. But under hotter conditions above 85 C the clearance becomes less and the friction between piston rings and bore increases...leading to more heat..This heat actually acts as a deterrent to performance. So under cooler condition the air cooled engine is able to dissipate heat better .
Which is why a LC bike of same cc will outperform an air cooled one consistently, and can maintain top speed continuously without performance deterioration.
                      just my thought.

It is 10w30, called Tru4Premium, red in color.

Bikes and cars with Carburetor see more benefit than Injected vehicles, since the ECM through lambda ( oxygen) sensor compensates.

Jeez.. Not the Fiero's requirement is 20W40 ?

Just fyi - when HH changed their oil grade from W40 to W30, I was left wondering why my bike was generating too much heat & oil was not keeping up for alteast 1k kms but in this case it was mineral oil.
