Sold my CBZ for 19k just today, so from now on fiero will get all my attention.
I need your suggestions on Good mineral or semi synthetic engine oils suited for TVS fiero.
My bike ODO reads 40K
Congratulations on manazing to sell CBZ and move on to Fiero.
I think mineral oil is best suited to Fiero engine ... I have been using Gulf Pride 4T Plus mineral oil ... This mineral oil is quite good and lasts a long time. I had been using Castrol before and faced engine roughness... now no more. Available in black bottle.
------------------------
Well my Fiero has been ok ... small issue now, I find that it takes quite a few kicks to get it started in the morning... Maybe KTM is getting really cold now. Even after ignition and start, the bike initially finds it hard to stay idling. Any suggestions guys? About the carb clean-up, I have not done that as the mech said he would do that in the coming servicing. Maybe that's the problem.

thanks for the heads up cheif, will keep that in Mind, Although my first preference is still Shell Advance 10w40 which is semi syntheitic oil which worked pretty well in my CBZ for 2.5k kms.Originally posted by chief ashman View Post================================================== ===

Coming to your cold start Issue, do you use the choke at all during early morning starts, when it gets cold better use the choke & let it idle for 5 or 10 Mnts until engine gets warm enough to Idle normally without choke.
For me here in bangalore all it requires is just a kick, no choke nothing, It doesnt get too cold here in Bangalore you see.sigpicAll India Permit 1+1

Stick to mineral oil & ALL IZ WELL. If you can get your hands on Elf Motogold pro 20w40, nothing like that.
My daily running is 60-70kms at 60-70-80kmph speeds. I change my oil every 2000kms & it still looks good at that moment.

Good to hear that buddy,i am glad the electrical issue thing is off your mind now.Weather affects the carburettor directly ,so don't worry much about it.Originally posted by chief ashman View Post================================================== ===

Don't worry about fiero man,it hardly needs any fussing over or servicing. The only thing which matters is the oil and its level. If that's ok then you can run the fiero without the need for regular servicing.Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostThanks

Sure thing,no sweat.Do give a thought to MOTUL as well,it probably is the best engine oil maker in the world.I have used shell advance and it's a good oil which makes the engine run silk smooth, but it feels a bit too thick on running.Go for either gulf pride or Motul mineral or SS oil.Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostThanks for the heads up bro..

Kool, I have used the Motul in all three variants ( Mineral, SS & FS) & I can safely bet on any of these any time of the year.Originally posted by gixxer_junkie_m View PostSure thing,no sweat.Do give a thought to MOTUL as well,it probably is the best engine oil maker in the world.I have used shell advance and it's a good oil which makes the engine run silk smooth, but it feels a bit too thick on running.Go for either gulf pride or Motul mineral or SS oil.
I have no exp with Gulf pride, but yes the Shell Advance I have used in my CBZ & it was a very good oil.
I will better use the Shell Advance for now & try others in the next oil change intervals before settling in for one particular oil.sigpicAll India Permit 1+1

Thanks gixxer bro. The weather does play a major role in how we people and animals as well as non-living things like bikes behave (cant call it non-living can we?
). The thing is that the bike initially makes a gasping for breath type of a sound before it's sweet default dhug dhug. It not only makes that out of breath sound but also initially behaves like that. I guess I will have to ride out the cold and see to it when the climate becomes warmer. Other than that, the power, pick-up and everything is good about it.

Another thing bro ,try changing the setting of the carb and see if it improves things.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

Guys,
Is Fiero F2 ( 14t, 40t) Chain sprocket set up a direct fit to Classic fiero ?
Stock fiero is 13/39 = which makes 3.00 Gearing ration
With F2 14/40 - It becomes 2.85
I am feeling instead of going for 14t @ front, this F2 set up will suit better
Your opinion guys ? I do not want to loose too much of Initial

I have used MOTUL 300V FS a couple of times and believe it or not,my engine started drinking oil because of a blown valve oil seal,as i had made the engine lug in higher gears when it was stock by putting the 14teeth gb sprocket. The surprising thing was when i drained the oil there was just about 300ml left and i had found no difference what so ever and engine was running like it was brand new!! The mech was surprised that the engine hadn't seized up or crank bearings blown by running with such a low oil level. That's how good 300V is! I haven't used MOTUL mineral oil but my friends apache was on it and it was way better than any other mineral oil.Currently my bike's on YAMALUBE 15W50 SS,which is supposed to be MOTUL 5100 SS oil and it performs very well in lower revs as well as in higher revs. Were as the Shell and other mineral oils become thin at higher revs.Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostKool, I have used the Motul in all three variants ( Mineral, SS & FS) & I can safely bet on any of these any time of the year.

I have ran both 14 teeth and 15 teeth GB sprockets on my bike when it was stock with stock chain and you really can't make it lug in any gears trust me.On highway speeds its a different thing though.Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostGuys,

The F2 has a longer swing arm so it will have more links. You might have to take off a link or two i think.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!
