  • C'mon guys chill, this is one of the threads, where i have seen a good amount of technical discussions happening.i like to see that continue.

Btw,back to the topic, the fiero has two ign curves, but how does it sense the mapping(the f2 has a eco and power mode, the classic doesnt). The pulsar and unicorn has TPS(throttle position sensor,TRICS in bajaj terminology) at the carb, but the fiero doesnt?

Nano we are having a healthy discussion here...if there was no opposition to my opinion I would never have learnt the things I had....the knowledge I am sharing here is the result of my learning through experience...experience is the result of mistakes we commit and learn from, which later becomes maturity.
I am BA English Literature graduate, had also done automobile engineering, electronics theory and application, and inter, of cost and works(ICWA).....and to day I am a consultant on Digital Audio and Video Software and Hardware..and have two studios to my credit...one of which had already won the President's award for best audiography......and I am still learning from everyone in this and other Forums...so take it easy ,and let us learn from each other.......
On a lighter note...Experience and Maturity ,is the comb we get when we have no( hair)use for it..

I don't own or know much about the Fiero or it's variant. But reading through many of the posts, esp.Nano's and ,Gixxer who educated me, had made me understand the bike better....
My guess on the discussion of the switching of different mapping is that there is a red switch mechanism under the tank which is linked to the throttle cable and is used to switch as required depending on the throttle position.Nano and Gixxer will have the final say on this..
Velociraptor..you are not doing justice to your name..join the fray and throw in more questions and queries.

            • Guys

The TVS fiero Doesn't run or start without battery & I learnt it the hard way.

I was on my way office from home today morning & all of a sudden Horn stopped working & Neutral Indication light went off & I thought battery gone dead & as I near the traffic signal bike went dead & that's it I couldn't start the bike @ all.

@ first I thought may be petrol is empty & tried filling petrol from the next petrol station but all in vain.

Now I have got it checked with mech & Indeed battery is full dead & my bike is not producing spark, given the battery for charging.

Another good reason to switch to MF batteries.

                Chillax guys.

We are here to help and share our knowledge with each other. I was getting educated with the conversations going on here but very little went into my head as always .

Just to inform, I ride a classic Fiero and have a rewinded coil as Nano mentioned. My bike runs on the stock CDI(black box under the tank)(if that is what it is called). One thing I noted is that the bike does not start if the battery is not connected. Now I really dont know why . Maybe this can help you guys and we can come to some answers.

                Happy riding!!

that's what happened to me today just now.. see my previous post, on the contrary I used my CBZ without battery for 2 days & yes the Tacho doesn't work in that case but the bike performed same as it did with battery except for horn & tacho

Feels like dormancy here bro... I have become very busy with office work and Christmas and New Year Events and stuff. So I have barely managed to visit the site regularly... just enough to go through the new posts.

Bike is good... I guess the cold takes it's toll on the bike ... it's about 1 degree celsius here in the mornings and takes more than just one or two simple kicks to wake it up. CDI - no problem with it. Why change something that's working well without giving any problems? I guess I might have to consider TCI when upgrading to 180.

                    all the best

                    • I am too poor with this electrical stuff, so I'm taking my bike to an auto electrician tomorrow (if I can find one) to check out the wet stalling problem.
I also plan to get the seat bolt rethreaded as I'm tired of seeing it move around.
@chief, other F2 owners: Can you tell me what all tools were included in the toolkit? I seem to have lost most of mine.
gixxer told me to get the spanners of size 8,10,12,13,16,17, plug spanner&rod.
Anything else I need? I'll try to get it from the industrial area if possible.

Glad you are busy and keeping a tag on what is going on here.No need to change the CDI if it is ok,and can think of TCI/IDI later....Like you said,

                          • @ALL

I want to settle this once and for all.The classic fiero starts and runs without a battery depending on the health of the capacitor.

The way in which the maps are switched in classic fiero's CDI is based on RPM.

I lost my cool a bit with nanotech and posted two posts and subsequently deleted them as well.Hence the apology. So let's move on.

                              @ Gixxer

I will meet you today or tomorrow, as you can see my bike didn't start when battery went dead today morning & I had to push the bike for 4kms.

They have made the Ignition direct & bike is running now, but their seems to be a problem with the key set, no horns, indicator & no neutral light.

As I said I don't know much in to techincal stuff:
