My observation wrt the unicorn's keihin-better throttle response as it has a more bigger throttle body, moreover the throttle valve(butterfly) actuation is more smoother than the keihin(the spring was more tight).the BS29 would set you back by 2.5k.

    In a nutshell,u get a good performance.

That's because stock has a smaller 26mm venturi and a smaller main jet.Now your bike has a bigger venturi and i am assuming a bigger main jet too.If you have done nothing to the engine, then in all probability your bike's performance/top-end/mid-range/ would have gone down in comparison to stock.

Just putting a bigger carb won't increase the performance ,on contrary if you read ROCKERZ or someone's post his hunk's performance has gone down in comparison to a stock hunk with smaller carb.

Yes Venturi velocity plays an important role in this.

a point well said and mentioned,in fact my top whack and mid range has improved a lot.Throttle response has improved. But one more issue that i would like to raise is the volume of air delivered by the air box,i feel its somewhat lesser for the bs 29,as you had rightly said the venturi dia has increased.Maybe a free flow filter should help out.

I was saying otherwise that is performance wouldn't have gone up because of a bigger carb.

What is needed is better breathing, induction and exhaust along with porting. If you put K&N along with this carb ,you might as well throw the money on some girls Even if breathing is improved then ,cam has to be changed as well to exploit the bigger carb ,ff filter and exhaust. So if you are hell bent on keeping engine etc stock then the 29 mm carb would make no difference other than "psychological " one.As i said probably the 29mm carb has reduced flow velocity and reduced the performance.

Then , without going for bigger bore,it won't make much difference anyway unless you get things done by some expert tuner.

Hope you got what i mean Bigger carb and K&N or FF exhaust will make you feel asthough performance has gone up,but on the contrary it might be slower than stock.

Take RTR 160 for ex,it's a big bore, short stroke screamer!! and it has a smaller 26 mm carb with suffocating exhaust and filter. But it still smokes 200cc bikes and can keep up with 200cc + bikes.

HERO HONDA hunk and CBZ extreme have bigger 28 mm carb ,but still they are slower than HONDA UNICORN which has a 26mm carb.

They have gained initial and mid-range but lost out on top-end in comparison to the smaller carbed unicorn.

thanks for taking me to your mech's place, bike is all okie now ( touchwood) & I am just back from Nandi hills ride, Boy fiero performed brilliantly & I think 14/39 Sprocket did perform well on the Hills that too with a pillion

Now coming to my querie, my headlight is pointing towards sky, how do I adjust it ?

Thier is a noticeable difference in speed picking up time from the stock to 14/39 sprocket set up, but once the speed is achieved it easily cruises & manage to hit a top whack of 100kmph on speedo.

I also felt slight vibration in Foot pegs ( both rider & pillion ) also in Handle bars in speeds above 60-70kmph

In stock gearing itself fiero can hit speedo indicated 120 kmph.So you will be able to cruise at 100 on your current gearing.

Don't worry about the vibes, engine mountings might be loose, ext time when you're here we'll check the plug and see if its running lean.

Good to hear that you are able to climb the nandi hill with a pillion on this gearing.Keep it man and enjoy your fiero.

Yes I felt their was still some more juice left & I will be happy if it does 85, 90kmph cruising.

Will come over @ your place when I am free in the evening in this week.

Can you also advise about how to adjust the light focus in Fiero ?

So if you decide to buy a used carb make sure you put it on the bike and see if it runs well before sealing the deal.
                      Very true gixxer!!!!!

but my mech said lets find a carb and only when i'm satisfied with it i can pay up. so just waiting for that day. Man its so irritating trying to ride a bike which coughs all the time. i wonder if its healthy for the engine or not!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah let me know.I replaced the stock fairing/headlight within 6 months of purchasing the bike so i have no idea about it.It's a 5 min job at mechs.

Yeah man let the mech get you the carb ,then it will be his responsibility.

If you have any engine modification in mind like converting to a 180 etc in future ,then you can ask your mech to go for the 29mm pulsar 180/200/now 150 too carb as velociraptor said.

My advise is ,don't go for fiero carb because it's a bit more complicated than that of the pulsar carbs and pulsar carbs are available easily too.

Maybe because the cbz and the Hunk have a slightly different cam profile W.R.T the Unicorn,The former has a slightly higher lift than the latter.

Yeah it does . A guy here on xbhp had tried it on his uni as well and i believe he then went on to machine cams for his bike too.But i think they wore out very rapidly because of poor quality metal.A better option would be to go for uni dazzler's cam.
